Top 10 best looking last-gen games (56k no)

Before I continue please be aware I am not only judging based on shiny polygons... but also art-work, style, design etc...

10. Final Fantasy X

9. Devil May Cry 3

8. Jak and Daxter 3

7. Ratchet and Clank

6. God of War II

Not as good looking as Ninja Gaiden but still very good for PS2 hardware.

5. Gran Turismo 4

Gran Turismo always have shiny graphics what is there to say :P

4. Metal Gear Solid 3

In my personal opinion its the best looking PS2 game.

3. Star Wars Rogue Squadron III

Looks almost ultra realistic... no?

2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Beautifull style and cell shaded graphics. The graphics are very unique. If you have played this game you would know what I mean. It looks better then Twilight Princess.

1. Ninja Gaiden

Maybe this one is biased but I'm a big Ninja Gaiden fan... so couldn't help it :P

Chronicals of Riddick No.1 followed by Panzer Dragoon Orta No.2 and probably Doom No.3freshfighter83

RE4 looked good, but I still don't think it looks as good as Riddick or Orta. Riddick is still impressive and looks better overall than some of my 360 games.

best looking? well ninja gaiden would not be on that list. it has certain scenes that look great, and ninja gaiden fans always go posting them around on the boards, but overall, the game is not that impressive graphically. you can especially see it in more open enviroments. lots of jaggies, not very good textures, etc etc. but most of the closet spaces look good and characters look great. its certainly a good looking game, but by no means is it top 10.

The best looking game this gen to me is Resident Evil 4 gamecube hands down. i have a hard time deciding what comes after. Riddick looks great. Starfox Adventures and Conker could be passed of as next gen games graphically in most instances. not very good ones, but next gen nontheless. the latest splinter cell for xbox.. same with farcry, thats just tech masterpiece. one of the zeldas should be there also. TWW looks better artistically, but technically Twilight Princess is an accomplishment on last gen hardware. God of War 2 of course is ps2s contribution to this list.. a R&C game would not be to far off either.. 

No Shadow of the Collosus? No Metroid Prime (or Echoes)? No RE4?

This thread is incomplete, or just wrong.

Metroid Prime and RE4 own the first four entries on your list.  Riddick owns at least the first 7 (and arguably the rest).

Even Fable looks better than your first 3.

I think too many people can't tell the difference between hype and good graphics.  It's like, the second a game gets mega-hype and people like it when it comes out, then suddenly every single thing about that game is considered the best ever.  OMG!  Best sound and music and graphics and story and plot and character development and animation and SFX and controls and camera and textures EVAR!!!

Those are some good games...but top ten?  RE4 is easily the best looking game on the GC.  FF12 is better looking than 12 by far.  As much as I love Wind Waker, the graphics were weak and saved only by the animation.  I would have been more inclined to put Twilight Princess on that list since it is technically a last-gen game that was simply delayed until the current gen.  And if artistic merit is valued then Ico and Shadow of the Colossus should be higher than those GC games at the very least.

So it is his personal choice, probably a selection of the games he owns... so please give him a break and state what you like(d) best.

BTW.. I would have to think a little longer about my top 10, but if it was consoles only I would at least include the two Rogue Leader games, Remake/Re0/Re4 and Star Fox Adventures, Gran Turismo 4 maybe... but I guess I'm forgetting quite some (of my own) games now..

hmm not easy to rate but I think this is how I would rate them other great looking games are also Twilight Princess (GC), FFX (PS2), Shadow of the Colussus (PS2), Unreal Championship 2 (Xbox), Jak 3 (PS2), Tekken 5 (PS2), Metroid Prime 2 (GC) Rouge Squadron 3 (GC), Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, (Xbox), Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox), Prince of Persia: WW (Xbox), GT4 (PS2)...yeah I think I've got most of them covered now :P

If these aren't your top three in this order, you're lying to yourself.  I can't believe people forget how good Splinter Cell 3 looked on Xbox.
