MGSV so far. Fallout 4 has a chance too.

Witcher 3 and Splatoon.
And there you were, hyping it a 6 before release :(
As for GOTY, my realistic candidates are
Ori might surprise us, but in all honesty I don't see it competing with the other 4.
Being the hardcore gamer I am, I bought Undertale today. I hope to get to it by the end of the year. Gaming this time of year is tough because I intend on playing so much, yet all I play is shooters.......... I probably won't touch TW3 anymore, I plan on digging into MGS V a little more and I want to finish Bloodborne. All with a 1 year old running around and a Wife that is a huge Yoshi Woolly World fan. P.S. Yoshi Woolly World will be in my top 10 as well. Believe it or not, Nintendo brought it again this year!

Yay! :D You won't regret it!
Yoshi's Woolly World is another one of those games that very few have given any notice to but probably should. It's no 6 by any means. Maybe if you ran through the levels without collecting a thing, but who the hell plays Yoshi games that way...
Games that belong in my tp 10 so far,
Rocket League
Splatoon
Bloodborne
MGS V
TW3
Halo 5
Yoshi Woolly World
OlliOlli 2
Destiny TTK
Until Dawn
And there are atleast 10 more games I need to play/finish before writing this in stone. 2015 has been a gen so far!
The bias little notes you left after each game is cute and quite hilarious.... opinions lives matter.
@GoldenElementXL:
The most creative game of the year and probably the most fun game of the year. I've played it far more than any of the other games on the list.
@mems_1224: siiigghhhh... This game feels very long. Not in a bad way.... I mean, I literally can't wait to thump my next outpost and cause more mischief, but I play it on the weekends from 6am to around 9am. I should be finished sometime in 2016. :/
Personally, I haven't played every game you listed, but I would choose Ori and The Blind Forest. It has beautiful visuals, fantastic audio, a solid tear jerking story, and fun/intense game play.
As for Gamespot, we all know they will play it safe and give the award to either TW3, MGSV, or FO4. For one, I'm burned out on open world games. I'm not excited for Fallout 4 at all.
Personally, out of the games I played from this year I would rank them like:
1 - Bloodborne
2 - The Witcher 3
3 - Metal Gear Solid V
4 - The Order: 1886
5 - Hotline Miami 2
@GoldenElementXL: I know what you mean. Some indies do tend to get overrated, and this one might be in ways at least compared to its Metacritic score (personally it's a 9/10 game for me). Still though... the game is really good. Much better than what I thought it was going to be. It has flaws, but the quirkiness and surprisingly memorable story/characters beat out the likes of even TLOU and other more story oriented games imo. I'm not even one for stories or characters in games too, but for some reason this one hooked me pretty hard. The soundtrack is also awesome which adds even more to the game. Definitely top 3 or so this year.
The game is 10 bucks. Go and get it!
Really, other than The Witcher 3....AAA games have been very disappointing this year (if I count Bloodborne as one tier less than AAA).
hum... Bloodborne got a 9 here and has a 92 on meta. It IS AAA and thats not a matter of opinion, Its a fact if we use the term AAA correctly i.e. great scores + big budget + commercial success

However, its also a title for a niche audience, not a mainstream one. I can say it is not a AAA game.
You don't have to be AAA to be good.
For me it's TW3, but I expect one of the later releases to win it (gamers and their short attention span and all.) So I would guess Fallout 4, unless Bethesda really messes it up (which is of course quite possible).
Honestly, for me, my GOTY is LISA The Painful. I bought it on a whim, thinking it looked mildly interesting and it turned out to be one of the best RPGs I've ever played.
Lems believe that Halo 5 is a GOTY material? Really?
Have you played it?
The point is that 8/10 won't even get a nomination.
Same reason I didn't put up Pillars of Eternity, even though it's one of my favourite games of the year.
Last year's Game Of The Year was an 8/10 title.
1. MGS5:
2. The Witcher 3
3. Bloodborne
4. Mario Maker
5. Rocket League
Life is Strange honourable mention.
Witcher 3 for me. The game is truly amazing.
Bloodborne is second, but it is not really close.
I didn't get a chance to play MGSV yet, so I reserve my judgement in this regard.

Niche? It is a commercial success, come again...?
@AznbkdX: You absolutely should. It's one of my favorite games ever. The storytelling is excellent, as is the atmosphere and sountrack. Gameplay is also surprisingly well done- there are a lot of options regarding customization of your party.
Personaly, from what I played...
1 - Bloodborne - Like Dark Souls, but better (at least when it comes to gameplay and artstyle). I just prefer the fastest, more hack'n'slashy gameplay over DS more methodical and defensive combat. Those who say Bloodborne is just like Dark Souls with a new coat of paint dont know wtf they're talkin about
2 - The Witcher 3 - Fantastic production values, characters, writing and world design but gets stale after 30 plus hours of gameplay. Not much mission variety either when the vast majority of them over-used the witcher senses. Fantastic game still and I wouldnt mind if it does win GOTY
3 - MGS V - Disappointing. Definitely not a bad game as I loved its gameplay to pieces but bad at everything else. Its a superb game by itself but a mediocre MGS game. I was expecting more plot wise and it suffers from the same problem as TW3 i.e. repetitive missions. It also has an empty and kinda boring open world and the boss fights... just horrible. Good game but in mind mind it does not deserve GOTY
The only other two 2015 games I played were The Order 1886 and Hotline Miami 2. The Order was a fun ride while it lasted and definitely does not deserve half the hate it gets and HM2 was probably my biggest disappointment of the year. Loved HM1 but this 2nd game just felt uninspired. A crap story and cheap level design when half the way you're getting shot at from offscreen enemies didnt help. The 1st was hard but fair, the second was just cheap
edit: shit, I forgot I had already posted in this thread...
