also, is this realtime or pre-rendered?

nope i played grn turismo hd on a sonybravia there was a bunch of jaggies.benjaminbuckner
gt5 isnt gt hd and apart from some bugs the gameplay videos ive seen look just like the trailers
I take a 3D background over a static picture every day.-wii60-
Why? I fail to see what benefit there is to that, it may look slightly better if it is 3d but what is the point? It's a waste of resources you could be putting into making the cars and the immediate track area look better.
That shot is real-time. They achieve graphics like that by combining HD photography with simple geometry. The Swiss Alps in Gran Turismo HD and the Grand Canyon track in Gran Turismo 4 are super examples of this technique in action. Even distant trees use similar 2D trickery. As a result they can save polygons, and the added power can then be put to good use on the main attraction: the cars.

Graphics like this combined with damage models, improved physics and AI, online and fully detailed car interiors make it the most realistic game i've ever seen.

big deal. you cows may have better graphics on your racing sim but we have the better game. i'm almost positive gt5 won't be as good of an overall gaming experience as fm2.
LOL @ those forza pictures
GT5 looks photorealistic in that shot and makes forza 2 look last gen
still gameplay wise GT games have bumper car physics and no damage which kills the whole relaism aspect
so gameplay forza 2 >>>> GT5
graphics GT5 >>>>>> forza 2
tidus222
exactly.

when in fact, forza has always been the game that has to catch up in terms of gameplay.

Man, I don't care about fanboys. GT 5 is GT 4 in HD. That's all.
nothing wrong with that ;)
What we have seen of GT5 indeed PWNS all console games graphically even Gears
AgentA-Mi6
must agree. do we still expect this game to weigh in at 60fps?

That and Kz2 too
must agree. do we still expect this game to weigh in at 60fps?
I bet it will and also Kz2
True: yet another thread in an infinite line of threads hyping a PS3 game that is a year or two away from hitting the market.
True: PS3 developers have a history of posting amazing screenshots of upcoming games followed by the in game graphics not stacking up once the product is finished. This isn't specific to PS3 games, but we've seen a great deal of it on the PS3 side so far.

you talking about frames? KZ2 is a confirmed 30fps title.
Be smart.
You should really wait until this game is out before making "betta than all other console game graphicssxx" claims.

It's a slow day. there's no "war" in system wars if someone isn't saying something controversial.

Swiss Alps background is not a skybox, it's a 3D model. If you have a PS3, run GT HD, pick "time trial", select a car, press start race and you'll get to the level preview screen (don't press the flag icon) where you get to see the camera passes by the mountains which are clearly 3D models (i.e. not just a skybox 2D picture).
it's best to wait for the actual game before hyping it.
i remember cows posting pics of gt4 pre-launch that the final verison didn't come close to matching.
i'm thinking GT5 is the same....

when you can move the camera OVER the mountain, that's when you have proof...;)
