Trying to get girlfriend into gaming (Nintendo DS or Sony PSP?)

I am trying to get my girlfriend into gaming by first buying her a handheld, with the ultimate goal of getting her into console gaming... (which might be a exercise in futility :P)

I actually DO NOT own either handheld device, but I am willing to wager a guess that a female would prefer the games out on the DS over games for the PSP? Also, just FYI, my girlfriend is 29 years old, so perhaps she might actually like the PSP more?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

PSP. She can use it for music and videos too.

it has some coolest puzzle games, and some sweet RPGs

If possible, could people also make some suggestions on games to buy for each respective system?

Games with a very low learning curve (easy to pick up), fun to play, and something a girl would enjoy!

A lot of games on the DS are easy to pick up and start playing. I'd recommend Elite Beat Agents (if she likes music), Brain Age (if she likes short problem solving stuff, or Sudoko), The New Mario Bros (It has a lot of multiplayer mini games tacked in with the main game that are fun), Warioware (the mini games are fun if twisted), Nintendogs (if she likes cute small fuzzy animals and doesn't actually have a real one) RahnAetas

Haha. My sister and her friends are too busy looking pretty to have any interest in videogames. So they say. I was staying over at my sister's place. Normally I bring my PSP or DS along with me. This time I brought my Nintendo DS, and her roommate was home. I introduced her to Animal Crossing, but I didn't think she would like it. She wouldn't let me have my DS back for a good hour. It was about 2 weeks later; she had a DS lite with New Super Mario Bros, and Animal Crossing. Every once in awhile she'll visit my town through wi-fi.

Pretty much everyone has played Mario, get your girlfriend something that's familiar.

But anyway, another thing you could do is just get your girlfriend a decent phone. Casual gaming on phones is massive, and it doesn't matter what gender you are, you'll probably play them coz it's so simple.

My sis is little Miss Popular (much to my distaste, because there are the guys you have to look out for), but she's all for Nintendo and of course the Sims on computer. She started a chain reaction where all her girlfriends have started that "lite" gaming.

It's whack. But I think only she has the guts to play Halo. On easy.

Man, if you can succesfully get your girl into gaming you mist accept me as your aprentice and teach me the ways. I wish my girlfriend was into gaming like me. But yeah, definatly go with the DS. The PSP may have more options but they would just confuse her.. plus you gotta buy memory sticks and all that nonsense. dude buy your girlfriend a DS because this thread alone had inspired me to get my girlfriend one. Trust me having a girl thats into gaming is good coz then they can appreciate when you want some game time. Maybe not cool when they're into the same games as you so go for the DS and kick it on the console while she pets puppies with her stylus. my girls absolutely addicted to WoW and frankly its a turn on so kudos for gettin her into gaming u most likely wont regret it.Danny2712

Personally, I don't care if any of my girlfriends are into games or not. Man, I don't even mind if they don't like any movie period (but they'd just be really boring anyway).

My girlfriend is not a gamer. She has played my DS many times. She has no interest in my PSP. She just likes the games I have for the DS, I guess. Actually she played Resistance quite a bit and is getting really good at Guitar Hero II.

well what system do you like, I mean if your gonna get her to play games with you, you both have to like about the same stuff. most people are gonna say DS and for most its a good start but not everyone is the same. A couple of friends of mine and I got my girlfriend a DS for her birthday, but I found her play with my brothers PSP with me(it dosent help that shes been playing console games just as much as I have and like me we have sony systems :P). Your girlfriend new to the scene so I guess a DS is nice unless you have a diffrent preference in console gameing if you like Nintendo buy a DS but if you like Xbox or PS buy a PSP that way you guys can play reletivlythe same genra of games.

Try the DS, it's more or less made for situations like this. Nintendogs, Animal Crossing and maybe some of it's puzzle games are good for people starting out on videogames. You can move up to New Super Mario Bros. or other hardcore but still accessible games, then move on to MP: H and FF3, for the hardcore. Voila, a hardcore gamer.

I have no remote guarantees that any of that will work in the slightest :P, but I can dream it'll be that easy one day..

I ironically got my girlfriend a DS a couple of months ago as a gift.

It was a risky purchase at first, since the most fun she's ever gotten out of gaming has been Tumblebugs / Diner Dash (y'know, that sorta thing). Then she told me she "tried something called a DS, and thought it was cute". So at least I knew she was open to it.

She was quite surprised when I finally gave it to her. So much in fact, I thought I had made the wrong move. But man, months later she brings it everywhere she goes. She's fallen in love with Nintendogs and Elite Beat Agents, Yoshi's Island and Warioware. I'm a hermit, so I've never owned a console or handheld before (not since the NES), but I must say, the DS is surprisingly easy to get into.

My girlfriend works in advertising, so when there's downtime, she just pops it open and feeds her pups, plays a round of EBA or WW. I think it really helps that the games don't require you to invest a lot of time in them. "Fast food gaming" as I'd like to call it.

I must say, I'm happier than anyone that she's happy with it. So much in fact, that she's pushing me to get one too :O. (Multiplayer EBA rocks, or so she says).

Depends what she's into. If she wants to watch movies, view photos or listen to music then PSP would be your best bet. Being that she has never played console games, the controls wouldn't bother her.

On the other hand, DS has alot of games for someone like her. So I don't think you could go wrong with that either.
