*facepalm*

I could swallow the complete joke that "teh cloudz" could affect anything in real time 20+ years from now, but as of now 'Murica sits at 30th in the world in terms of average internet speed.

Maybe it could have uses in turn based strategy games.  Get a quality TBS that actually uses the cloud like XCOM as an exclusive and I'll jump in line to buy a pathetic excuse for a cable box that is the X1.

If this was on PS4 or PC it would be the next best thing since sliced bread. 10 cars racing on a track on a specific course. Traditionally the other 9 cars where solely based on computer programming. Now they are based on information collected by other human drivers reporting to the cloud. This adds the human element to other racing cars in a single player game. The cloud collects the data computes how each car should drive based on your skill level and how others have driven the same track. It's is a pretty cool feature utilising the cloud. Makes for a better overall experience. If you don't have Internet at the time of playing it will simply used what it has already learned from the cloud or just go back normal programmed drivers. Its innovative and unique to Xbox One and its very real, so deal with it.

Much to your chagrin, Microsoft has already admitted that it's not.

And then when you crash in to them the AI will automatically take over to readjust the positioning and keep them in the race until they are realigned right? Thus removing any major benefit of not needing to process AI. Does anyone REALLY expect this to have a notable difference in actual practice? The problem is when there are 6 AI drivers which will be potentially bumping around each other on the track if they just follow a line, the AI will have to take over and you will never see a major difference except maybe more crashes. Better AI patterns which adapt to you and DONT try to hit you would be much better.

Since Cloud Computing was going to be used to spy on every move you make while "always online, DRM, no used games, MS now trying to justify its purpose.

what a joke.

Oh yeah, a thought.

Skynet is basically an AI in the cloud, right?

So Microsoft is actually building Skynet. Forza will become self-aware.

We're all dead.

whatever capabilities the cloud offers won't be supported in a meaningful way. If there were a game that required the cloud to work, that only limits the potential consumer base. We're just not ready for a cloud-based experience yet. Not for mainstream success anyway.

Exactly. I mean is all this cloud development a way to sneak "Always Online" back into the console? Ok guys. 24 hour check in has been scrapped but in order to get any real benefit from our games, you must be online.

6 core jaguar is that bad? espcially with things like SHAPE and onboard dedicated audio hardware and the ARM chip to handle certain background tasks on PS4 to take audio load and other loads of CPU? in a console environment?

My goodness.

"Another known possibility for cloud computing is AI, not for direct interactions such as determining if an NPC should duck or shoot, but for background AI in living worlds like Grand Theft Auto and Elder Scrolls. The complexity of these games has always been limited to the console's resources, and AI has often been very limited to simple behaviour routines. Cloud computing could run world simulation and just update the player's local world over time, allowing the world to live and respond to player actions. Such complex game worlds could be a significant advance, but they are also constrained to a limited set of game types. Games like Xbox 360's flagships Gears of War and Forza Motorsport have little need for smart NPC AI of this kind."

AMD Jaguar is good for it's chip size i.e. delivers better performance over similar chip size as ARM Cortex A15, but it's no Intel Sandybridge/Ivybridge/Haswell.

Both console vendors wants max GPU for the price they are willing to pay.

http://www.develop-online.net/news/44302/FMOD-Studio-optimised-for-Xbox-One

FMOD audio middleware runs on X1's SHAPE hardware and this middlware doesn't tax my Intel Sandybridge/Ivybridge CPUs.

Yes, but there a world of difference between 'significantly faster' in a 1 to 1 situation, and 600% when you're sharing said processor. Oh, it's definitely faster, but nothing like what the numbers being tossed around imply.

On servers (highest speed math calculators), you have AMD FirePro S10000 (7990 class SKU), NVIDIA Tesla K20 (Titan class SKU) and Intel Xeon Phi.

For PS4, it has 6 extra CUs over X1.

It doesn't matter who it is, but they'll be matched to you and you'll be racing against more human behaviour in single player mode. I think that's the point.

What is it that people do not understand about cloud compute. Off loads non per frame processing to cloud hence leaving more local processing power for other things. I don't get what is so hard to understand? I think the question people need to ask themselves is, how can this not improve performance on XBO.

And again, you dodge the point. This isn't a 1:1 scenario. You don't get a server all to yourself. In fact, you'll probably be lucking if you're sharing it with less than 100 people.
