EDIT: 360 on left, PS3 on right.

The game looks mediocre overall having played the PSN demo so this isn't a 360 power thread. Rather, I'm curious as to what the deal is with Unreal Engine ports on the PS3? Whats the problem? UT3 looks pretty good, why can't anybody but Epic get the engine to work right?

As I said converting real textures from 360 to ps3 is a major pain in the rear. Ps3 is only good for floats not texture based graphics.

prety big downgrade its not the usual shadow comparisons its actual objects on screen ( i no i point out the obvious ) yh so no rgb cables and combinations can fix that. but devs may have been lazy. xbox 360 gets another better multi plat none the less :)

those 360 sreens lookhorrible too.. is the sharpness way up in those screens?? butiplayed both demos, and the 360 version looks way better

Yeah I played the PS3 demo and it looked horrible. At least one version looks... kind of good.

At this point and time, nobody should be suprised. I mean it is another multiplat game, you know what that means. 360 > PS3 for whatever reason. Kinda sad but hilarious to most.

edit: don't blame the developer, blame the PS3 hardware, simple as that really. I mean if you start blaming one developer, you might as well blame all of them, because there's a hand full of multiplats inferior on the PS3. So you're going to blame all of them? I don't think so, its the PS3 hardware's fault.

I'd forgotten about Bioshock, that one used it well. But Mass Effect suffered awful texture loading, the game was too large for its engine.

The texture loading is the only thing I hated about Mass Effect...

the problem was the devs didn't use any of the cell for rendering like games such as RnC, warhawk and unhcarted do. Turok devs just jused the rsx, which was a horrible idea....The 360's gpu for actually pushing pixels doubles the rsx and in some cases triples it....but thats why sony uses the cell to do graphical work.....tsk these devs didn't know how to program, optimize, and contact sony for help lol!

We can only hope can't we...I didn't mention Gears 2 because we have seen no screens and frankly I expect it to look exactly the same. If Epic wants to save their engine they'd better come up with some awesome new tricks though...Gears 2 will be just the game to show off those tricks.

it was both, devs didn't know how to use the ps3s hard ware, thats why its smart to always start on the ps3 when doing multi-platforms, ala cod4, AC and burn out paradise. Plus they had help from sony....turok devs were to lazy to contact and learn how to use the cell for rendering, Which is where for the most part the ps3 gets some of its visuals. the rsx by itself is crap, its like a old computer gpu....by itself worse then the 7800 on the pc's because the ps3verison does have the 512 vram it ahs 256....oh well.

nah itl look better why wouldnt it gears was out in the first year of xbox 360 life cycle now in the 3rd year on i think wed see a significant upgrade seeing as epic work so well on 360 architecture

Yeah, I dunno what his problem was but for months he'd been screaming the praises of his game, saying we wouldn't be able to believe it...

Like I said, the game looks and plays pretty garbage on both machines, this is more of an Unreal Engine by 3rd parties thread lol.

they didn't want too...excuses me, i shouldn't say lazy, more of short handed, they didn't spend enough time with great programmers on the ps3 verison, and they didn't work with the ps3 verison enough. Simply they ran out of money and time so they worked with what they could to reach the release date...remember turok was suppose to be released laster year but nope, had to be delayed to make it playanle on the ps3...it was much worse before...the devs limited money made them have to port every thing from 360 to ps3.,...which simply doesn't work...its does from ps3 to 360 tho, thats why devs should always use the ps3 as the lead sku if they wants equal games.

When there are games that look way better on the PS3 then this, It's the devs fault. Plain and simple. The Turok team decided to bring the game to the PS3, it's there buisness to do a good job.

i know....its not sonys fault tho...they weren't even involed in th whole game....but they could have been if the devs would asked for help.

When you see games like Devil May Cry 4, Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament 3, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, etc. etc. it becomes pretty evident.

As for the stuff in red; that's just stupid. Were your theory true, it would only screw them out of more money. It's just laziness on the dev's part; simple as that.

lol no lazyness....they didn't have the money and time...plus the didn't use sonys help.....u see the cell does alot of the ps3 rendering and these devs didn't use the cell for that...the rsx is crap by itseself....trrue

edit: devs need to use the ps3 as the lead sku if they want the sp3 verison to be good, thats a fact, or unless they have a year to prot it...ala rainbow xis vegas 1 on ps3. it will be good just not as good as the 360 verison. They need to use the ps3 as the lead because everything on the ps3 can easily be translated to the 360.

lol look at the pictures again, its not that they are washed out and grainy. Thats not the big deal...hint look at the foilage on the right compared to the 360 on the left...lol did u look at them even?

When the hell is it going to sink it to your heads cows, that the PS3 was NEVER more powerful than the 360?! what the hell man? i mean cmon! and maybe, just maybe, it will also sink in that NOT EVERY SINGLE DAMN DEV ON THIS PLANET IS LAZY!

lol look at the pictures again, its not that they are washed out and grainy. Thats not the big deal...hint look at the foilage on the right compared to the 360 on the left...lol did u look at them even?

Did you look at them? Overall to my eyes the ps3 verion just isn't anywhere near as sharp or as detailed as the 360 version.This is pretty embarrasing for sony.

that's bs man prolly didn't use HDMI cable when comparing 360 is horrible its a piece of crap system just a goddamn hype when FF comes out and MGS 4 say good bye to xbox nothing can beat those 2 titles if they decide not to go exclusive which would be gay it would still have better graphics in the end then on the xbox

Think of it this way:

Say the 360 and PS3 were in a race making a multiplatform game. Development of a game = a racing track. Both 360 and PS3 have the same racing track length plus both 360 and PS3 have the same time to complete the race. The PS3 just have more obsticles on the racing track than the 360. Devs just have to work longer, harder, spend more money, and spend more effort in making a multiplat for the PS3. This is why sometimes if not most of the time, PS3 versions of games feels unfinished, with no online capability, etc. because the game had to come out and there were just so many obsticles with the PS3 hardware. Hope that made sense to people.
