I have the game so im not mindlessly bashing here.
1. where is the life in TP? nearly 90% of everyone in castle town ignores you, and the rest have no personality or a fake personality.
2. where is the music? the little songs you play here and there are useless.
3. challenging puzzles? Not in TP, the game was easy for anyone the first time through.
4. bosses were unimaginative, boring, and very meh.
5. Story... umm yeah it was just bad, not to mention they got some plotholes in it.
6. Mini dungeons that nintendo promised... where are they? I see the cave of ordeals and thats it.
7. kakariko village is a ghost town, what happened to the humble kakariko?
8.whats up with getting rid of hitting switches with arrows? or how about getting rid of the great faries besides for one? Or what about getting rid of the mirror shield? The magic bar?
9. what boring background music, nice snooze fest nintendo.
10. you delay the game a year for what? to push your new console and make the game even more outdated? at least update the graphics for the wii version, because the controls arent so great.
seriously, nintendo was just cleaning their nails when they made this disappointment. I really dont like to say such things like this, but if you think TP is in any way a "phenomenal" game, than you are just to busy reading the title instead of playing the game. It is horrible that the name "Zelda" can guarantee its love and blind fanboyism, I find it shameful to even call TP a zelda game. IMO If TP wasnt named zelda, it wouldve been slammed for mediocricity

Yay somebody agrees
I'm sorry you feel this way about such an entertaining game. Here's to hoping that you didn't buy it and aren't stuck with something that makes you so unhappy.
You might have heard of that little purple box called the gamecube...pundogok, so take the wii controls out, you still got yourself a huge slab of disappointment
... did we play the same game? I found the game to be incredible. In fact it's my favorite Zelda. I found the combat excellent, the puzzles challenging but not to the point of being impossible (except for the Master Sword pattern puzzle, that was a pain), the story deep and engrosing on a level Zelda has never reached, the side quests plentiful, the items fun to use (dual clawshots FTW!), and the music, though not of the highest quality, to be excellent and always fit the occasion perfectly. Also, as for Castle Town... do you honestly expect people going about the hustle and bustle of their busy lives to stop and take some time to talk to a stranger who trys to stop them in the town square? If anything I found it much more lively and, in this regard, realistic than Hyrule Castle Town in Ocarina.Hoffgod
what puzzles?? This game I swear was made for casuals to be able to get into it.

... are you asking for specifics? I beat the game in November. I don't remember specific puzzles. "Oh, and in the water temple you face this puzzle which requires this solution..." If that's what you want, sorry, but I can't offer that. But there were puzzles. If you think there weren't, you're kidding yourself.[QUOTE="akatsuki0wn3d"][QUOTE="pundog"]You might have heard of that little purple box called the gamecube...pundogok, so take the wii controls out, you still got yourself a huge slab of disappointment I meant the gamecube was Nintendo's biggest dissapointment. no, that would be the virtual boy

I rather liked the smaller puzzles of finding pieces and then porting them to other locations. They wern't hard, but a few had you kind of thinking about what they'd be for, or going back through what you've seen.
It wasn't as good as OOT or even WW, but it had a lot of good things going for it. Personally, I really liked Midna too. Shes one of the greatest additions to the series in a while.
And if an 8.8 is the low point of Nintendo first party titles, then they're doing something right.

For the record, though, I can recall several puzzles from both Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. Know why? Because I've beaten Wind Waker 3 times and OoT at least 6. I've only beaten Twilight Princess once.Hoffgod
Thus proves TP sucks. you only played it once. I playecd OoT again right after I beat it. the Spirit Temple was so awesome I had to do it again.
I just think there was too much hype for some people to enjoy it. Even Nintendo hyped it. Reggie Fils-Aime and Miyamoto said it was the greatest Zelda game.
Now, this could have been marketing hype to help sell Wiis...who knows.
Although I agree with a lot of what the initial topic stated, I still feel it was the 2nd best Zelda behind Ocarina of Time. The dungeons themselves were amazing. They weren't difficult, but they were tougher than Wind Waker by a mile. They were also much more planned out than Wind Waker.
Speaking of Zelda music, I must be one of the few people who enjoyed the Sky Temple music in TP. It was nearly as eerie to me as the Forest Temple music in Ocarina of Time.
TP presentation is by far the best of any Zelda. It is much more cinematic. Hyrule field is huge. Midna was a great addition. I even liked the glorified Wolf Link fetch quests. Tornado boomerang is very fun to use. Mixing arrows with bombs was cool. Fighting on horseback was a good addition. Learning new sword techniques was interesting (even though most of those techniques weren't needed because of the easy enemies).
I disagree about the bosses. They were very easy, but really fun to fight. I liked the fact that every temple had a mid-boss fight as well.
My one big complaint about TP was that items retrieved from temples were hardly ever used in subsequent temples.
The biggest disappointment in Nintendo history has to be Super Mario Sunshine. SMS was too hard for some people and I remember reading on the forums in 2002 all the complaints about the difficulty and camera issues. Many people began to agree with Jeff's review score of 8.0. Many people hated the water pack on Mario and called it "gimmicky".

You know every zelda game had a mini boss fight. Also Gantz was the worst boss fight in the history of boss fights. He only had one attack how pathetic is that.

...? And I assume you have a thorough understanding of my gaming habits to make that presumption? Do you know how long it was between my first playthrough of Ocarina and my second one? Two years. Between my first playthrough of Wind Waker and my second one? Three years. I already started another playthrough of Twilight Princess, but with so many new games and a 17 credit hour course load I just don't have time to invest 40+ hours into a game I've already beaten. So what does it prove? Two things. 1. I'm a busy person. 2. You're way to presumptuous for your own good.[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="Hoffgod"]For the record, though, I can recall several puzzles from both Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. Know why? Most people play a great game right away again because it was so awesome. TP didn't deserve the initial playthrough. So i definately will not be playing this game again. Your right I don't know your gaming habits though. I just figured you are like most gamers who just finish a game that gave them one of the best experiences ever.

Are you saying you never did it?too_much_eslimDid what? Make baseless statements or play through a good game right away after beating it the first time? I can quite easily say I have not ever immediately started playing through a game I liked that was any decent length. I think the only time I've done it at all was maybe with MGS1, which I could beat in like an hour and a half.

ok, but in all seriousness I don't see how anyone can love this game. Its battle system is awesome and should be standard for next zelda installments, but the game really lack the quality I expect from a zelda game.

To each their own. I really liked the combat, the sense of exploration, and the stronger narrative. I though those were areas in need of improvement and Twilight Princess delivered.[QUOTE="Hoffgod"][QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="Hoffgod"]For the record, though, I can recall several puzzles from both Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. It may not be the best zelda game, but it is still incredible. And besides do you really think a game that got a perfet 10 at EGM and GI doesnt deserve an initial playthrough? It was the only Zelda game that I've ever just stopped playing and had no real motivation to continue playing.... (right after the Lakebed Temple IIRC)Benihana7Water Temples always suck but it was still a cool game.
TP is an awesome game, I just wish I had more time to play it. Seems there's just no time for single-player games anymore.
It was i think, considering nintendo promised that it would be the best zelda game they've ever made, even better than the legendary OoT. It didn't even come close. There were no real memorable music, The boss fights were a joke. I was so hyped from the E3 trailers. Judging by those videos, this game was set to be the most epic game of last gen, not to mention the GoTG. Nintendo failed on every level.
Give the directing role back to Shigsy Please. Aunoma has had one chance to many. MM was excellent, but Wind waker, and now TP weren't so great.
