God are there a lot of morons in this thread.
1. In engine =/= in-game, real-time
2. Naughty Dog is not composed of ancient wise men with freakishly amazing coding talent that no one else in the industry has access to. They couldn't keep their last game at a fucking stable 30fps. Some gods!! Not to mention, the Last of Us looked like garbage. Terrible image quality, low res textures everywhere, jaggies, piss filters, just ugh...ugly as hell. Maybe it was enough to impress the idiots at IGN, but for people that are actually used to good looking games, it looked atrocious.
3. If you seriously think they're gonna pull off that level of IQ with that level of AA at a stable 60fps...you're a fucking idiot. Now, remove the high quality AA, tone down the ambient occlusion and other minor yet costly visual effects, make the environments confined enough ala the Order, and yeah, I can see it pulling off close to 60fps. The fact that the Order needs to run with black bars at 30fps while utilizing 4XMSAA (the kind of AA you would need for that level of image quality) should tell you something.
Who pissed in your cornflakes?
In engine only means the PS4 is rendering what you see in real time using the GPU, of course things are going to be scripted and hand optimised to make it work unless you think drake is going to fall down like that a lot in the game and get extreme close ups of his face every single time, although it could also be rendering without hand optimisation... but in the end what does it matter, show us an in engine cut scene on consoles that looks better. I Don't think the game play part will look that much worse, if they have made it properly is will load stuff in when needed to do extreme close ups and not render with as much detail when viewed further away and not be able to tell the difference.
Also with the way Naughty Dogs works with their games their stuff is stupidly optimised to the point where they chose not to use operating system / CPU features such as memory allocation because hard coding it in arrays and partitioning the ram is faster, that is dedication. The normal PC game has **** all optimisation like that because they can't be arsed to bug test that shit because of all the hardware variation.
