Wouldnt mind seeing Apple take a shot at it, they have got major brand recognition these days and I HIGHLY doubt it would result in the apocalypse of gaming as some are claiming..

[QUOTE="The_Brodeo"]Don't bother those without will never understand. I myself am steeped in apple products and desire more. I await your message Mr. Jobs. I have an iTouch. So yes I understand.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]
Macs and iPhones are great devices. To each his own, I guess.

But those are made by Pasen, not Apple. :P
It seems Apple has a thing for rectangles with rounded corners, so I'm guessing it'd look like a giant Apple TV. The controller, I dunno. I can't really imagine Apple doing this. I'm used to them selling stuff that they outdate every year which is a terrible strategy for selling a game system.
apple introducing a gaming apple tv could be awesome. games, music movies all available for download from one store. Just needs to pack some serious power unlike most apple products. I could see ms turning the xbox into a pc that runs windows media centre and make some changes to the media center so it includes games support. Don't be surprised when ms doesn't release another xbox but instead migrates all xbox games over to a windows media centre pc with full xbox controller support and all the features of xbl put into gfwl. Nintendo will stay with the causals but sony will have to do something big to stay in. Consoles are moving away from plug and play and into media centre pcs. imprezawrx500Pretty much what I was thinking. I would be very surprised if Apple released a console in a traditional sense, as it is much more likely that apple would keep expanding on what they did with itunes, just with games. A console/box (one that you wont have to rebuy consistently) that sits next to your tv and downloads your favorite movies, games, songs which are then watched/listened to on the tv could very well happen. If they further expand on that, make a browser for the internet, add several amusing gimmick features and curve all physically visible corners there you have your Apple Console
So it'll just be a really expensive device that can't do anything. Looking forward to it. Course I'll be getting one just because it'll look nice.siLVURcross
... what, a PS3?
J/k :P
I think everyone here are greatly underestimating the power of the almighty apple army. A force so strong that over priced gadgets and hardware upgrades at a ridiculous pace will not stop them! We will all rue the day when Apple officially takes over the whole world.
Apple is a money machine, if they introduce anything new, especially if you can touch it, squeeze it, or talk to it, IT WILL SELL! period. Remember the casual gamers we have all come to loath? Yes they will lead the gaming industry down the pathway to destruction once again, and possibly to the point of no return. These companies are already trying to copy each other, just wait until apple comes onto the scene and they all try to do what apple does. I see a dark future ahead, very, very dark.
A 4th console? I find having 3 consoles is to much let alone 4.Star650Thank you. Only if Sony or MS drop out would I care to see Apple come in. Then again, I wouldn't....
i dont understand people sometimes... so in order for Sony to continue in the gaming industry it has to sell 100 million units for every console they make, otherwise they are doomed?????
Come on, do you seriously believe that if apple enters the gaming industry that will make Sony run out of business ??? People got short memory aparently, i didnt see Nintendo nor MS abandon the gaming industry when they got trashed in terms of sales by Sony, (dont forget Nintendo got also trashed in terms of sales back in the N64 days).. So because PS3 is struggling in terms of sales but not in the same bad way N64, Gamecube and Xbox did compared to PS1 & PS2, that should imply Sony has to get out from the console gaming business ??
And dont even compare Sony with SEGA, as much as i had fun on Sega consoles back in the day, it was always being outsold by its main competition since the Master System days, let alone the flops they made with SEGA-CD, NOMAD, 32X etc etc so thats a complete different story..
If Apple plan to enter the gaming industry, good luck to them, more choice for gamers & more competition for manufacturers... Long live all console manufacturers cause of them (& devs)millions of gamers enjoy themselves playing amazing games....

It will kind of be something like this.
Everyone talk as if sony is the weakest competitor here just because they made one mistake this generation doasnt make them the weakest and if you look at it the other way Nintendo is the one who will be hurt the most if apple entered this market cuz apple target casuals like Nintendo.

[QUOTE="Delsage"]Bring on the IBox. It's just a box.Delsage
sounds to much like the Xbox.
I-game?
I-play?
I-Wii?
I-u and me?
ha ha ha
No, no iBox is deffinately what it will be called. ;)
lol. however the idea with no wire at all would be something else.
maybe with the blu tooth or upgrade in wireless technology where you can stream pictures to a "reciever" on the T.V. would be awesome at accepatable performances.
coupled with a motion camera along the lines of what Microsoft are doing could be some simple alternative to playing with out a controller.
Imagine games in the future where you no longer play with a controller and move and use hand gestures for weapons like the movie "Minority report"
http://youtub.com/watch?v=NwVBzx0lmnq
The camera would scan your hands- you make the gun gesture with you hands and the camera is so acurate it watches your trigger finger and arm movement for firing and aiming.
a quick keyboard gesture and you can use this to interface with virtual keyboards or G.U.I's like in Minority report.
That would be killer of an idea along with the advent of 3d images and we would have a next level of interaction and revolution since motion control and "3 dimensional" graphics.

I reckon Apple and Nintendo can co-incide well together.
Nintendo always has a huge following and fans when it comes to Nintendo games.
It could be possible that the next Nintendo console could be the main gaming achine and the Apple as a support entertainment device or maybe the other way round when it comes to the casual market.
Though both companies have a huge software histroy and library.
Apple can still build on the success of Iphones, Ipod touch and Imacs to spill over into the gaming industry somehow.
Nintendo will always be popular because of their high quality first party games.
Microsoft have a very strong vision in what hey wanted to do from the get go with online markets, digital distribution and dlc as well as try to be a happy middle for the hardcore and casual market. Many Skus, optional perripherals and multiplat games performing quite well in sales and on the machine.
It's win - win!
