people take fanboyism to the highlest levels and actually got offended by a simply and obvious statament by ubisoft. They're right, there's no wininng, just a fact.

if developers like rockstar, bethesda, etc. arent complaining then i think ubi has no right to complain

Or maybe Ubisoft likes pushing development forward and cares a little about technology. But hey, as long as people continue to buy their games they're gonna make them on these consoles.
Ubi has yet to release anything spectacular this whole generation so I don't take Ubisofts opinion seriously. Sure they may be correct, but seing as how they have yet to even push the limited hardware they are complaining about, there's really nothing for them to complain about.
Maybe if Ubisoft developed some games with quality that at least matched games like UC2, I'd actually care for their complaints. Naughty Dog doesn't publicly whine about hardware limitations (maybe because they're a first party studio though :P) but they sure make some better games.scar-hawkBecause ND think they're graphics gods for publishing such an ugly game like UC2. Face it, Ubisoft is right. Games like AC are open world and struggle to run without a ton of compromises on crappy current gen consoles.
Ubisoft might be alone on this one... for now.
Ken Levine has said he doesn't want new consoles right now and THQ has expressed a lack of desire for new consoles.
Though, with reports of a PS4 coming next year, we'll have to see what happens. Though, Sony could easily take the same route as Nintendo with the Wii U, making it not much of a hassle to develop for those platforms.
Which reports? Didn't they said they had no plans for its release soon?Ubisoft might be alone on this one... for now.

in other words they don't trust PC :PJohn_Read
"PC has a lot of potential"
-Requires a BS DRM put on all their games.
"Yo PC gamers, we got a big surprise for you"
-Removes DRM but doesn't fix the games.
"We are being held back big time by consoles."
-Doesn't develop for PC.

But they had no DRM on their games for a year. They tried and it failed, unsurprisinglyThis. Seriously, WTF happened to Ubisoft? I used to be a huge fan of their Tom Clancy games, and nowdays they seem to be getting underwhelming (I still enjoy the games, but a far cry from what they used to be...Conviction hurt me the most, being a huge Splinter Cell fanatic :?).i'll wait till i hear complaints from better developers

[QUOTE="-The-G-Man-"]pretty much this. ubi have really gone downhill the last few years. Denial much? what he says is no doubt accurate.i'll wait till i hear complaints from better developers

I love Ubisoft, but I personally think the people saying they are 'extremely limited' by the PS3 & XBOX 360 are insane. We don't need new consoles until at the very least holiday 2014. They need to stop & learn new ways of developing their games if they are having problems developing games. Graphics can look fantastic & have great AI without needing a new console to develop for. Creativity doesn't come from new consoles, it comes from developers that can look at any console & come up with a new game concept to play on any console. I hated it when they said that last generation & I hate it now that they say it this generation.

Just confirms that SW is just a graphic whore's forum. and people who are in denial because they dont want to pay to upgrade. Why are people getting so defensive over this? It's not like they more powerful consoles just for graphics.. they just want to make better A.I. Also why are people trying to pass off ubisoft as some no-name developer/publisher? Where's your triple A game?

Thanks Ubisoft for trying to push technology forward. Let's see what they've got in store for Wii-U. Maybe they'll let us light a match for a cigarette, using the tablet as a cigarette cart and our finger as the match, and interact with the characters onscreen.

Ubi AI not close to top tier console AI, and yet they complain about being too limited.
Makes them seem very limited as devs
Well lets just ignore the idea that FPS on "Elite, Veteran ect" are incredibly easy to make compared to other genres intelligent A.I. would you describe what makes Elite so smart? because all I saw was the typical "aim-bot" like accuracy, coupled with more help, coupled with explosive spam and run and cover. Using a shooter as an example of "prime console A.I" isnt saying much at all. It would be much harder to make smart A.I in a sandbox "civilization imitation" like Assassins Creed for example. Its more than fair to claim there isnt enough computation power to make incredible complex worlds based on hardware that is only as good as a high end pentium D ... things we stopped using 6-7 years ago.Sounds like they just want to upgrade their games the easy way, with better hardware. I remember when developers would tout what they could get out of a machine, not whine when they hit a wall somewhere along the line and were too lazy to try and hurdle it.JynxzorITs been ... 5-6 years, for gods sake its more than fair to say it.

Ubisoft is limited by poor development studios.
ChubbyGuy40
GTFO! Their Montreal studio that makes Tom Clancy games are awesome.
Surely you jest. They are the ones who have been creating the R6 series of games since Rainbow Six: Black Thorn. RSE employees went to the Montreal studio to show them how to use the RSE engine that was in use at the time for R6. They were specifically shown how to optimize the code, yet they blew it and it showed when trying to play the game. Starting out on the ship level and moving to the ramp, everything was fine, step on the ramp and walk up it, everything slowed down.
Move on to Raven Shield. They had to patch the demo for it even. There were sound problems which still continue to this day with R6: Vegas 2, that Ubi has not been able to fix and it is 3 releases down the road from the RvS demo. RvS was patched 6 times, with each patch breaking something new as it fixed something.
R6 is no longer the awesome franchise it was born as, it is now a cookie cutter game as is the SC franchise. The first 2 showed premise, but as gamers wanted more action (I blame a lot of this on gamers too), the franchise went downhill and now features 20' tall hints everywhere you look (though may be turned off but you can't prove it by me) and now said hints will be in more games (I believe I last saw it mentioned in GR: Future Soldier ).
Ubi as a whole has corrupted the TC name and should be shot.
As far as Ubi wanting a new console, I said this in a thread we had back in April about this very subject:
This pales into comparison with Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot who believes there is a dearth of original IPs for the current generation of consoles (sorry man, your company took original IPs and bastardized them and made them into run and gun games compared to what they originally started from and is the reason why I can't agree with your assumptions on a dearth of original IPs). There is nothing stopping you from creating an original IP for the current generation of consoles except for lack of desire or lack of wanting to try something new that will not become a cash cow that can topple CoD.Me
I can understand them being limited by xbox but not PS3, I'm sure they'll still make PS3 games but MS will have to make a whole new system to compete with it.
It's outdated.

Unlike most games higher difficulty does not just = higher enemy health and better aim, but higher AI intelligence. (easy and medium AI is dumb in comparison)
GG went the extra yard on AI, and elite AI has all mental restrictions removed and play better then most online players.
They use flanking tactics, teamwork, will throw a grenade as a distraction to get you out of cover for a second hidden enemy to blast you away.
Hell, botzone AI picks and setups that benefit the mission at the moment better than most real players
FEAR and Killzone2/3 are recognised as the two best AI games, Ubi has never made anything remarkable this gen in terms of smart enemies.
If they develop on PC, they'll be forced to package some bullcrap DRM that proves counterproductive and leads to more piracy than retail sales (hint hint AC2). So either Ubisoft get their act together and start making decent PC games that don't restrict and punish players for playing their game on a superior platform, or they stick to consoles and water down their games.
I think Ubisoft should try explaing these "limits" to developers like Rockstar, Bethesda, Bungie, Naughty Dog, and Epic. I think the only limits that they have are their imagination, the first Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia were pretty repetitive.
There are very real limitations that you have to function within when developing for consoles. Having more overhead with available resources is a good thing. New technology and development techniques will happen. I'd much rather start down that path now than delay it so I can play the 5th iteration of a game I already played 5 years ago.I think Ubisoft should try explaing these "limits" to developers like Rockstar, Bethesda, Bungie, Naughty Dog, and Epic. I don't really care for how downgraded they've been. I've been playing co-op with all of them and they're a ton of fun. It even managed to turn Conviction from meh to AWESOME, even though it was short.
And for problems/bugs you've listed, I've only had problems with RS3 where I can't play it at all. Can't move or do anything. Also sometimes have that sound bug in Vegas 2 where the LMG sound plays over and over.

So it appears you agree with me on most aspects then. How is it then that Ubi Montreal is such a great developer? Sure, you can enjoy aspects of the games, but if they have been downgraded and have bugs, especially a game stopping bug where you can't move causing to be unable to play, surely the statement that Ubi is a good studio is false?
