Lol whaaa?

If you have a decent enough pc to actually pirate and run their game, then why in the world would you even buy the consol version in the first place (pirating or not)

Personal preference? My PC could probably run this just fine, but I prefer to buy (not pirate; my games are paid for) my multiplats on 360 or PS3.

As much as they focus on PC, I have to wonder what measures consoles will take in the future? Because don't fool yourself, there are things about existing consoles that companies would like to restrict.

For example I have no doubt that consoles will have mandatory online activation of games that tie to your user account some day. Why? Console gamers can lend their games to friends, who may not go on to buy the game later. They can sell games to second hand shops where someone can acquire them without a penny going to the developers. Worse yet, rental shops can lend the same game over and over again to people who may not go out and buy it later, again with no money going to the developers.

With all the options being explored to squeeze more money out of games today; whether it be episodic, cross platform, microtransactions etc. Have no doubt that they will exploit the control they have over console users one day to limit lost sales. They are already attempting this on PC by sneaking measures into anti piracy software like Securom, measures that just so happen to make it impossible to lend or sell your game.

Cause PC users will be more likely buying the game if its released alot later..

Seriously, after the hype dies down for the game (When its already old) Hardly anyone will care for the game.. And even less will buy it..

My take is: Yes.

If a company simultaneously releases a game that one wants to play. And One has a PC that is semi decent enough to play said game, One would likely pirate it, because hey, its free, and One is cheap.

If a company releases a Console only game (maybe with PC at a much later date), and One wants to play said game. One would be alot more likely to purchase the console version than wait for the PC version.

One has seen this happen with many games, and even many upcoming games, that will have a simultaneous release ont he PC, 360 and PS3. If One wants to play these games, even though One might not be that interested in them, One will pirate the game instead of paying for it.

Of course, the main way to stop piracy of games, is to include an online component that One really wants to play. Most games, when One pirates a game, One cannot play the online portion. So if One wants to play the online content, with One's friends, One would need to purchase the game, instead of pirating it.

This is crap. I mean if someone pirates games on PC they are not going to pay $60 for a game on a console instead of waiting for a few more months and pirating it. Lets face it if a pirate really wants to play the full game (online multiplayer) he would buy the game even if the PC and console were release together.

Endwar is primarily set up as the game to finally crack RTS on consoles so it is not surprising that they want people to get the game on a console instead of PC. This is a more plausible reason for the game being released on consoles first rather than the absurd piracy excuse. If they really felt that PC piracy effect console sales, why release the game on PCs at all?
