Magazine article:
- No more sneaking around in the shadows. Apparently you're going to be more like James Bond and infiltrate buildings in plain daylight. You won't have to use force or sneak around as long as you don't act suspiciously.
- According to the article, every single object that is rendered on screen has physical properties and most of them can be used by Sam. For example, Sam can pick up furniture and use it as a weapon, or throw printers at enemies or papers in the face of enemies to gain the upperhand in fights.
- Melee fights are much more than "press this button to hit" this time around. There's different context sensitive attack buttons and as mentioned before lots of environmental interaction.
- Some pretty negative comments about the ps3 made by the devs. They state the fact that they are exclusive to the 360 allows them to do much more than if they were multiplatform (duh) but they also state they doubt they would be able to achieve what they're doing with the game on the 360 on the ps3 even if it was ps3 exclusive.
The lead programmer told the magazine he doubts they would have been able to pull of the lightning effects they have right now on the ps3. That's the only thing they say straight out, but they do state they believe they're much better off on the 360.

If it is the same studio that handled the port of SC:DA then they should have no credibility. Only a moron would believe they are proficient enough with PS3 to make claims about what it can and can't do.Â
Everybody hear that? Its time for COW LOGIC.
"Teh 360 is limitin Gta 4 becuz of da core. Ps3 for da win"
"ubisoft is unrelible of curse splinter cell would be betta on the ps3 there just paid by micosoft to say that"
Cows you make me smile every time
I really don't care. 360 could keep all Tom Clancy games exclusive and I wouldn't care. But it's Ubisoft, I'm sure they'll find a way to get it to the PS3, as much as it will likely suck.Not-A-Stalker
Â
LazyDevs, I don't think so. UBIsoft made some fantastic game for both Xbox and PC, they where not lazy with those systems.
Fear, great on PC and XBOX. Its just that the PS3 is a very hard system to master AND, the PS3 is real bad at lighting affects and shadows.Take a look at that tech demo for the ducks, no shadow what so eva.

Â
Uh, no. They are bad devs. They may be good for the 360 or PC, but once they start making all these shoddy ports, their crediblility goes down, down, down. Ports are game, too. These guys obviously don't understand that.
PS3 is bad at lighting and shadows? Tell me, what games have you made or are working on for the PS3 right now?Â

then why was ghost recon so much better on the 360 than on the PC as well? Theyre Xbox cheerleaders clearly.Â
I don't think the PS3 could handle the lighting effects, either. Just look at screens or videos of PS3 games, the system is struggling to have more than 2 lighting sources affecting a model at any giving time.Luigi_Vincetana
Lair has really nice lighting effects imo :DÂ
XBOX and Ubisoft work well together. When Ubi puts a game on XBOX it sells well and they are thankful for that and also the XBOX provides good hardware for Ubi to work on.
With the Nintendo systems and Playstations, the Tom Clancy games dont sell well on these platforms.
I am looking foward to Conviction, it sounds marvelous.

No, they are lazy. They're just making half assed ports.Â

I dont like where they are taking the series. The XBOX Splinter Cells were the best...Anyway, the game seems a little exciting...but no sneaking...i`ll miss that.jfkunrendered
It didn't say no sneaking. It just means you will have a suspicion system similar to the Hitman series. If you aren't being suspicious people will leave you alone, but if you try and break into a military compound wearing civilian clothes it won't go well for you.Â
They sure are lazy, I played Double Agent on pc and it was horrible! It's a bug-filled, horribly designed, piece of sh*t game.
And they never, never finish anything on time.
Realtop
Not to mention Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter was AWFUL on the PC compared to the 360 as wellÂ

Sure Lair has some nice HDR lighting but that's only one light source and from what I can tell, there are absolutely no other light sources present in the game (not even the fire).has ubisoft ever ported any good game to PC or PS3? NO
rainbow six lockdown to PC? NO
GRAW to PC? NO
Vegas to PC? NO
splintercell DA? NO
if ubisofts game devs wernt amatures, they could bust out a Oblivion and make any port look and run better on PS3.
and ill bet the same cheap port of assasins creed will happen tooÂ

No, they're gona write them off because apperently Ubisoft doesnt give a !@#$ about making games for the PS3. Splinter Cell: DA s look nothing like they should on the PS3 if Oblivion looks just as good as the 360 version.

No, unless they can prove that it is true nothing is a fact. I take anything from a dev or marketing rep with a grain of salt depending on who they work for. Tech specs can show power, what some marketing guy who has probably never seen code says doesn't.Â
ubi didnt make nor port FEAR to the ps3.
Â
the news of them doing a diff type of concept towards the next SC installment doesnt sound appealing to me. If i wanted to play a hitman type of game i would play hitman games. I guess i have to wait and see on how the game turns out.Â
Didnt ubisoft say long time ago that splinter cell couldnt be run on the ps2, but couple of years later it was out on the ps2 along with the sequals.
Lol, well Didn't the dev for Lair say it wasn't possible on the 360?
and didn't the devs for Alan Wake say that it wasn't possible on the PS3?
and didn't the Kojima say MGS4 wasn't possible on 360?
and now Ubi soft are saying SC5 isn't going to be possible on the PS3 (due to minor differences here and there in the consoles)Â
Â
Quite frankly, I don't believe any of that crap....
I'm more than sure that if devs want to port a game they can do it either by hook or by crook....heck...I'm pretty sure Kojima could port MGS4 to the Wii if he wanted to... :|
They're either Lazy, or just initiating a perfectly thought out strategic move....but I will never believe that there's a game that can't be ported to either of the three current gen systems (also the PC too)..it's probably just a matter of tweaking until you pretty much have the best you can do for a certain system.
meh, either way.....you live with the choises you made when purchasing the consoles....XD
Â
Any game on 360 could be done on PS3 and vice-versa.
kage_53
Â
Not nessecsarily. Some games are built from the ground up completely based on a systems... everything, and simply would be impossible to port to another system. (MGS4, Gears of War)Â
