So my brand new Playstation 3 just decided to spaz out on me and overheat. Just freezes after about 20 seconds of it being on. The guy on tech support said it happens a lot. Once I told him it starts blinking red after it freezes, he knew what it was :O. Anyone else have this problem?

my brand new xbox exploded on me, burned my house down. the guy on tech support said it happens a lot and they have to buy new houses for many people that's why they're losing billions of dollars this year.

No hardware is perfect - but I haven't actually heard of any problems with the PS3 since the demo-units overheating in their demo boxes - still odds are tech support has probably heard a few hundred, maybe even thousands of breaking down...
I plan on getting a new one, just hope the retailer I got it at will exchange it, otherwise I'm gonna have to go through the warranty :/. It seemed to have problems at the start too, like it wouldn't run on my brother's HDTV correctly - it would have lines going from bottom to the top of the screen, much like a refresh rate line that you'd see when you record a monitor/tv with a camera. Italso had weird sound crackling from it.
Edit: I thought it was because I was using the basic composite cables, but later I got the component cables and it was slightly better because the sound crackling was gone.

Thats attributed to the cable you are using. Example - the Monster HDMI cable I have, works a lot better than the Sony component cables I got - go to like... a random factory outlet store in your city and get their cheap monster cables if you can - or go online and look at reviews to see whats the best.

Yeah it was weird, it was messing up on my older brother's TV (like I said above), but the HDTV in my house works fine. 360 component cables worked fine on my older brother's TV too.

Actually I did say that because he said it's a common problem. Just gotta replace it. It's probably not a huge problem, but I'm sure they see it a lot in tech support.

It was a joking bluff, get over it. I already posted my PSN. There's no way I can prove it when I don't have access to a scanner/ digital camera / camera phone

Actually, people are. I know PS3 have minor problems that can be fix. Screen tearing, No sound, Bluetooth undected, etc. I have problems with the PS3, but so minute that it's not even complaing about. All it takes is a quick restart and it works.
