Um... Is It Too Late To Change Sides? (Xbox 360 Owner)

Being a big fan of halo, gears, and forza, I was always very content with my xbox 360. And I mean, i still am, too. I still have fun playing forza 4 and halo reach and gears 3

......but then I played uncharted 3 and realized how miserable i am!

The thing is i dont want to sell my xbox, but ps3 is at a pretty decent price now and has a huge selection of exclusive games. I actually own uncharted 3, infamous 2, mgs4, and lbp2, but I have to ask my roommate for permission to use his ps3 in order to play them. So i hardly play them at all

Is it too late to buy a ps3, now with this generation of consoles coming to an end? And do games like resistance, killzone, god of war, and upcoming last gaurdian justify buying a ps3 even tho i already have an xbox??

Buy your PS3, then a year later PS4 is announced, then you rage.

The PS3 sucks dude. I have had mine for three years. Every now and then I get that itch like you did and actually want to play it and very quickly I realize why I hate that machine to begin with. You essentially played the best offering on that system. And trust me on this, the further you look into the library you will learn that "teh exclusizzzveesazzz!!!1111!" are mostly overhyped, generic, garbage.

And don't get me started if you play online with your 360. Going to the PS3 is like going back to last gen online. Trust me, you aren't missing anything.

Reisitance seemed to go down hill for me as did the god of war series. Don't get me wrong I love those games but especially God of War it is getting to the point I wonder, "now what is he fighting for?" Infamous I can't truely comment on since when 2 came out I didn't remember 1. This topic is exactly why I never can or will be a fanboy of any console since I follow the mantra of...will so many great games why restrict yourself to only one system (if you can afford multiples). wolfbm

I own both and my wife and I do about 85% of our gaming on the PS3. We do almost all digital purchases on PS3. We have had just too many problems over the last 4 years with the Xbox consoles and Xbox Live service. We hardly ever use it anymore.

The PS3 is more versatile as a multimedia device, has tons of great exclusives and the multiplats, and is reliable, easy to use, and the online is free. It's a great system.

In all of my years here, and that has been quite a few, I've never understood the idea of taking sides with any game console.

Buy the games that you want to play. Why would you possibly waste your time picking a side? If gaming is important to you, spend the extra money and buy the consoles so you can play the damn games. It's not freaken rocket science.

If you pick a side you're only preventing yourself from enjoying gaming.

Not really, its the reason why i bought one myself today.

Also to have more choice in the future when it comes to multiplatform, example when a certain platform get an extra incentive over the other console, etc, etc.

If possible, go for it. You could always wait for PS4 but if you're like me you won't buy a next gen console the year it come out.

That's really the only explanation I can come up with too.

Once I was able to start buying all of my own stuff, I just didn't care anymore. If I saw a game I liked, I bought it. If it was on something I didn't own, I would look into seeing if the whole console was worth my money yet. If it wasn't, I moved on.

I'm still holding out on the Wii. Though I'm about to pick up a used one for like $99.

No real gamer should be on any side other than the side of having fun playing games. If you want to play some PS3 titles that badly, and have the money for a PS3, then by all means. Broaden your horizons. You will have the best of both worlds.

I just bought a wii very recently. Even as a ps3/360 owner, I recognized that imo the very best games this gen were on the wii. I bought mine for $135 w/Mario Kart. I recommend buying one sooner rather than later--hopefully snagging the old model with GC BC. That was what forced me to buy one. I looked at the prices of Gamecube component cables and said, "ah heck might as well get the wii."

xbox 360 is the best choice. unless you just play exclusives. the best all around console to own is the 360. In these times its easy to switch because of the kinect focus. MS is just a business and you will come back once xbox 720 comes out. you know your gonna be rooting for it. just ride it out until then with witcher 2 n halo 4 n knowing most of your 3rd party games look better n play better.

When I was growing up I frequently traded the **** out of my consoles and games with friends in order to play all the games I wanted, or if not trade I'd at least go their houses to play games.

When I played Uncharted 3 I realised how miserable I was too...the game fell way short....shooting mechanics are miserable, platforming was miserable, character models were miserable.....the animations that everyone hypes are not that special either looks unrealistic

Your not really changing sides unless you are talking about selling your Xbox to get a PS3 and that would be stupid.

If you already have a few games, and there are a few more that you might want to own for the PS3 it's a no brainer. So I will assume you are just talking about broadening your horizons and owning both consoles. That's what us enlightened gamers do. ;)

You can easily find a used PS3 Slim on Craigslist for around $170 just grab one when you get a chance. Either that or keep an eye out for package deals as Christmas approaches. Retailers are throwing in games, or adding gift cards to the PS3 every so often.

You are 100% right. But, I don't like how people around here assume you are a fanboy when you are vocal about disliking something THAT YOU OWN. I own a PS3 and I hate it for gaming. I am pissed I spent $400 on it. I am pissed that it is worthless on the used market and I could at best get $100 for it. So I will take every opportunity to express my unhappiness with the product that I bought when someone gives the opportunity too.

One of the biggest hermits here bought one...me. I'm really enjoying i so far. I have about 15 or so games I wanted that weren't on PC and that was enough for me. I got tired of acting like owning a piece of hardware was bad just because I think PC is superior (still do). There were just too many great games I was missing out on. For some reason, I hated UC2 when I played it, now I'm loving it and 3......idk my whole perspective has change and I'm glad my judgement is clouded by fanboyism anymore. I'm too old for that ****

Buying games for the console you don't have :P? I would say go for it.

Get a PS3, if you can still find a Black Friday deal. But I wouldn't pay a cent over $200. I recommend even buying used if the price is right.

I still go to friends houses to play games.

Just this last week I spent a good portion of my free time at my friends' house playing Ghostbusters with him on his Wii (which was actually pretty good). The major downside of that game was that the god damn Ghostbusters theme didn't play at ALL except when you were selecting to play a mission solo or multiplayer, which is a screen you're on for a good 3 seconds. It was the biggest tease I think I've ever seen in video gaming history.

Now we're looking for more Wii games to play in the future.

This gen isn't coming to an end no matter how much hermits wish it would. The Wii U is just gonna share multiplats with PS3 and 360 it's more of an extention of this gen then a new one.

ps3 dudes here can rail on about yakuza and heavy rain and all the rest of the crud j-dev, lolli fetish jrpgs or "experimental cinematic experiences" all they want but that does not make me think they are the important exclusives they want me to think they are.

tbo i didn't even think that much of mgs4, buncha melodramatic convoluted crap with poopy jokes and bald smoking monkies? does that dude even know what kind of game he wants to make or does he just throw mud against a wall to see what sticks?

anyway. if you get one you will use it for years since it is still an awesome bluray player and i use it for netflix, store home vids and pics and stuff like that all the time.

I would suggest keeping your 360 but saving up and buying a PS3, that way you have the best of both worlds. For me personally I had way more fun with the PS3 exclusives than I ever did with the 360 exclusives, IMO they are just of a much higher quality. All the games you mentioned are worth buying a PS3 for, they are all great games and you'll have a blast with them, but Uncharted is my favorite PS3 exclusive.

Also you get all the great multiplats aswell so if you want to expand you library to include games for both systems then you can do that, but don't sell your xbox because it has games like Halo and Gears that you like and you probably already have alot of multiplats on it aswell.

save up and buy a ps3. even though i favor the 360, the ps3 has been great for me too. its worth the 249 just to play wipeout HD. fantastic game.

I like my 360 but the platform has very little of interest to me.

I don't care for Halo/Gears, the only exclusive I liked was Alan Wake.

Had fun using it to play multiplats this gen like GTA and Fallout, it did a pretty good job.

As a platform I would say 360 is perfect in every way.

I don't know how to describe...it just feels soulless. Generic. Canned.

My PS3 does alot of things poorly.

Downloads take too long, I hate waiting for installs and updates.

But I love the exclusives, and to me PSN is better than XBL because some of the games have dedicated servers.

Heck I don't even like UC.

I'm talking bout games like MAG and Warhawk, Heavy Rain, Infamous, MGS4, Motor Storm, Dead Nation, etc. Forget the reviews, these games are just plain fun.

Heck I even have fun putzing around in PS Home, just chillin, chatting, etc.

I just love the PS3 "total package."

I really enjoy the community, I've never been harassed or verbally abused on PSN, I've met some of the nicest down to earth people.

Mean look.

I readily admit that PS3 is weaker than most of the other systems.

But as a total package for purely entertainment reasons, for me it's #1. I just like it and I enjoy spending time.

So yeah, I do recommend going ahead and getting a PS3.

No reason to sell your 360, keep that too, for Halo and whatnot.

But definitely get MAG first thing. It's cheap now, like $20.
