Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 both have superior animation and artstyle than Crysis

Before the Hermies come in here and post a billion and one screenshots of Crysis, let it be known that I think Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2, despite being not as good a Crysis technically, look better in motion due to having superior artstyle, animation, particle effects, and generally higher production values. In motion, I didn't find Crysis to be anything special due to it's stiff animations, bland character models,and generic artstyle.

bet you have never played through the entire campaign in crysis.

I agree with what you said to some extent... Like Farcry was a nice game to look at... But Crysis got old really fast.

The aliens in Crysis is some of the best animation I've seen.

while i do agree with TC that KZ2 & U2 (from vids shown & the mp beta i'm currently playing) look great and have great animation / artstyle, I dont think they are superior to Crysis..

Dont have a gaming PC but played Crysis lots of times at my friends house and the game is not just about graphics, its got everything, from realistic / huge environments, good AI, great animation & solid gameplay..

Lets just all agree that the games mentioned in this thread are all great, well U2 is not out yet but if the beta / previewsare an indication it has a great chance of being another AAAe titlefor PS3..

And uncharted 2 is a stale game with no new gameplay, or game concepts it much like killzone 2 simply does what is available elsewhere and doesn't do it on any remarkable level though its different from killzone 2 in one regard they don't sacrafice control and fluid gameplay for animation which killzone 2 does.

Killzone 2 as i've said is a stale and arcahic game presenting nothing new to the FPS genre and nothing it does is well done its half way done from the cover system which is forgetable *didn't even know it had one till about lvl 3 when i found i could cover and then decided that had no worthwhile application* the animation takes presidence over control and speed with the controls being so bad and still not being up to par after its what 3 control updates? much like i said with uncharted one you can make a great looking game if every thing else in your game is mediocre which uncharted 1 was level design was inane, AI was inane and fights were just plain silly from the simple fact the game used more explosive barrels then any other before it.
Killzone 2 was much the same way and its shoehorned force motion sensing use was a total deal breaker even if the rest of teh game was perfect.

why did you get a PS3 again?? cause you're always first in criticising everything about the console & its exclusives... cause while Crysis is an amazinggame i dont think it revolutionised the FPS genre..

Thats a negative there chief. Crysis can not be touched by anything on a console in regards to anything graphics related. The only thing I hated about Crysis was the part in the Alien ship. That was so annoying.

i disagree plain and simple. The only think i agree after watching some uncharted 2 videos is i like the art style a bit more than crysis but i also like crysis artstyle more than the grey killzone 2 theme

Animation is better in KZ2 and UC, but that has to do with how good the animators are.

Crysis is still a game with far superior technology.

Crysis is known for its graphics overall, and the ability to produce them with such huge levels. But KZ2, U2 and mgs4 kills it with their animations. Also KZ2's AI is light years ahead of crysis aswell as particle effects and better looking motion blur. I hate seeing someone shoot something in crysis to only see it clip out, or see someone walking to only see some non detailed particle raise up and clip out. But Crysis does win at just being photorealistic, but sometimes its characters in motion are a let down.

But overall a great game and experience.

So I guess the official answer to this thread is

"NO. Go away!"

Crysis doesn't impress me. I like the idea of creativity around limitation. With a console, you have set specs so its an even playing field. When a developer rises above the rest and creates a stunning game its really impressive to me. With PC I just don't get that.

Although the gameplay in Crysis is nothing revolutionary, it blows everything away visually. Even running ona less than spectacular PC Crysis visuals are astonishing.

As far as animations and artstylego, I don't think there's any facts to be had. Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to that.

It's a amazing we have multiple threads like this every week, but then at some point a console user gets mad at PC gamers for apparently talking about Crysis too much. :roll:

Art style? You really wanna go there? With games like Rez, Okami, Braid etc. having been out for quite some time, Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 has nothing to brag about in that department.

Uncharted has a downright ugly artstyle.

Killzone has a few cool designs, but it's nothing compared to the nanosuit.

Why debate over which is less generic? When it comes to art direction, all of these games are stale.

in some instances with the human animations maybe...but everything else is a big nope.

"light years ahead" lol come on now. Anyway U2 certinaly begs the case that it's up there and in certian instances KZ2 comes close but at best even in thoseINSTANCES they can only be considered on par with what Crysis dose CONSTANTLY.

I've only seen HD vids of U2, but I own KZ2 and Crysis Warhead...there is no comparison. KZ2 is impressive for a console game, just leave it at that. We'll see how U2 compaires when it releases.
