MGS4? I never saw that on TV or so... Halo 3? That game only had TV commercials, but there were no Xbox 360 owners that were really looking forward to it, so it was not much-discussed before its release. GTA IV? I agree, but then again, just thanks to the reviws, everybody though it was best game evarR!11
Uncharted 2 has been getting perfect reviews from a lot of publications, and got a 9.5 review score from IGN, which is one of the highest scoring games on that website this entire generation. For reference they gave Halo 3 a 9.5.

Do you have a link to back up that claim. I'm sure more of the casual gamer knew about Halo 3 before it's release then they do about U2 before its. Unfortunately.
GTA 4 and Spore had much bigger hype to the point of insanity. Fortunately, GTA4 was able to live up to it. (IMO of course, and I first played it long after the hype died down.)
The thing is ppl halo 3,GTAIV,Spore and gears of war 2 were all let downs ...I have no doubt in my mind U2 will live to the hype and then some..Almost all the 360 big games were in one way a let down.
I think GTA4 was the most hyped this gen. Before they released the first trailer of the game,they puta countdown timer (that's it a timer) on a channel (forget which station, but it was a popular one) that was counting down the release of the trailer....not the game...just for the trailer.
I'd have to disagree. I personally believe GTAIV, MGSIV and Halo 3 received a lot more hype. I reckon Uncharted 2 is slightly below Killzone 2 level of hype. And as for your comment about RL and it's hype? Non existent in the UK. But then, as far as I've seen, there's only 2 game series that get any sort of RL hype here, and that's Mario and Halo. Everything else is just sort of... there.

GTA4 was a letdown? I agree, a 98 on Metacritic is horrible.
