Uncharted 2 = System seller... Killer App

I watched the new Uncharted 2 gameplay footage over at gametrailers.com and got a little bored so I decided to look at the user comments. The video has over 300, 000 views in just a couple days so there's quite a few comments on it. I saw a re-occuring trend in the comments...

That's it, I'm not waiting any longer to buy a PS3. It'll be a nice complement to my X360 anyway. This year is obviously the year for badass PS3 exclusives. I'm not going to be left out on all the fun.

I am a Xbox 360 owner & I must say that I'm very much jealous of this amazing looking game..

At least I will be able to buy it & play on my brother's ps3, Can't miss this!

ps3 is not about sales, its about quality.

same with everything else that costs alot of money, cars, etc.

just cuz u see more honda's and toyota's on the street dont mean they are better than audi's, bmw's, etc.

im not really sure if this is a system seller but killer app.. oh yes. I pretty much want this more than any other game this year, as of now, this might change with e3

Unless the PS3's price is lower when it comes out, and the Uncharted 2 actually gets a real good ad campaign, don't expect it to push loads of PS3s off the shelves.

I may be somewhat of an Xbox fan boy, but I'm not gonna lie....some ps3 exclusives are the **** this game looks outright amazing. good going naughty dog. makes me secretly want a ps3. lol =)

This game is unbealivable. I do not own a ps3, i am mainly a pc player, but up and coming titles like this, Gran Turismo 5, White Knight Chronicles, God of War 3, Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and already released titles like Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Resitance (both), the first Uncharted and maybe Motorstorm, will convince me to buy a PS3 immediately.
I'm completely sold!

I really wish you people would stop saying the PS3 is a BMW, Mercedes...ect and everytihg else is like a Honda or Toyota. The price difference is ONLY $100 unlike a Honda compared to a BMW or Mercedes.

ok so a video has been seen say by you assumtions 600,000 times, right how many people are already PS3 owers? hope many are those are repeat viewings? from the amount u are going on bout uncharted i hazard a guess that you've seen it 300,000 times. So that point is outta the window, thats like us saying millions of people have seen the new "insert band name" video so they are gonna go and and buy it or are interested in it, sorry it doesnt work that way.

Ad campaign sorry but i dont think sony knows what one of them are, where was the ad capaign for the the 2 biggest ps3 games (killzone 2 and MGS4) because i forsore didnt see any.

Uncharted 2 a system seller? you are very much mistaken as again the 2 biggest ps3 games werent system seller, the general public didnt rush out and buy them only us geeks who have nothing better to do with our time then spend to much of it on a online forum rushed out and got them.

popular franchises are system sellers. Games that trancsend more than the video game community but go into pop culture (ie, Mario, Zelda, Halo, FF, GT, etc). As much as i loved Uncharted, in fact it's my fav game this gen, it doesn't have the mass appeal to be a system seller. It's not even in the same breath in terms of popularity as MGS, which has more of a niche fan base and doesn't have the crossover appeal as the beforementioned games. I hope your right it would be nice, but i doubt it. One thing i don't doubt is that the game will be great whether or not it's a system seller. Naughty Dog, IMO, is the most consistant developing team out there. They haven't put out anything short of great for 15 yrs.
