When MGS4 released there were a bunch of polls like this. Except now its uncharted

Hows it stupid?I really hope the sticky goes back up so these stupid threads will all get locked.

Its funny how after all these years eveybody knows what OOT is no matter what faction your in right now. That will not happen after 10 years with UC2.
Howd you get 5th for uncharted? Is that by metacritic?Lets see. The widely considered best game of all time (OoT) Vs the 5th best game of all time (U2).....
I have yet to beat U2 but 1st beats 5th.
-Oath
Honestly this is Cows vs Everyone else pollwise, but I think Uncharted 2 has the potential to be a classic game, but it is too early for a poll like this. Did not vote.

[QUOTE="Vaasman"]Hows it stupid?I've only played a little Uncharted 2 and it's awesome so far, but seriously, there is no reason it deserves to compare to the best game of all time. Why is it that just because a game is released and it's good suddenly system wars has to make 5 million pointless threads comparing it to every other game known to man. A poll comparing Uncharted 2 to battletoads is just as legitimate as this.I really hope the sticky goes back up so these stupid threads will all get locked.
Manticore7
I like Uncharted 2 better. I mean its newer and its awesome. OOT is a good game but look at metacritic. It only got over 30 reviews and it got a high score. Then look at Uncharted 2 which has 67 reviews and it still managed to have a very high score.:D
uncharted 2 is top 5 GR. oh it will....Its funny how after all these years eveybody knows what OOT is no matter what faction your in right now. That will not happen after 10 years with UC2.

Uncharted 2 hype is ridiculous.
On a side note I'm getting annoyed about how the top 10 is literally going to be orcarina of time and all current gen games. I'm sorry but especially Super Mario Galaxy, The Orange Box (its a friggin compilation)and especially GTA4 along with Uncharted 2are not the top games of all time. More proof that reviewers standards are dropping every gen and the media is not to be trusted.
[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]That's not proof at all. How many of those top 10 games have you actually played yourself? Games are technically much better than ever and they will always continue to get better. Nostalgia is failUncharted 2 hype is ridiculous.

I have played all of them besides orange box and Uncharted 2 (has to wait until December. Well Technically I never diid finish OoT but I did play it). And yeah it is absoluetly proof. When I go back and read throught the reviews ofthe old games the scale is much more harsh. There is literally none of that now. The whole games are getting better argument does not work with me either because its fallacy that newer technology breeds better games. Technology is not the only facto games are based. Nostalgia is not what's blinding me, I'm perfectly able to see which games deserve their scores and praise and which don't.
That's like saying The Dark Knight is better than Cassblanca because it's newer, has more modern production values, and has more reviews up on rottentomatoes.com. Seriously no, just no.I like Uncharted 2 better. I mean its newer and its awesome. OOT is a good game but look at metacritic. It only got over 30 reviews and it got a high score. The fact that OoT is winning in this poll gives me hopefor System Wars yet :)

Really, I actually find it pathetic that people base which game is better on their nostalgia rather than the actual quality and work put into making an extremely fun game with a great entertaining story and amazing mix of 3rd person shooter, puzzles, and platforming.:|

I could say the same about Ocarina of Time.
I wasn't at SW when Oot came out. Were you?
Well I figured you meant it is overrated because UC2 is already out. They are both overrated.

That's fine if it doesn't fly with you, but it's true. If games weren't getting better the industry would be stagnant and probably dead by now. It's not about technology, but technology allows for more potential. Programmers are more talented than ever. And some developers are able to be more creative than ever. And yes, it's either Nostalgia or System Wars that's blinding you. Both of which are fail. Just because a game gets hyped to the moon on a message board, doesn't mean it's the greatest thing of all time. But if a game is getting high praise from the media and GAMERS a like, it's probably deserving.
Not at all. The first being I don't listen to reviews because they are not written with any sort of competancy or integrity by neutral people. The imaturity of the gaming media has taught me that they have nothing worth listening to. Disagree if you like but its not like its difficult to find examples of this piss poor attitude and journalism (or lack of) they display.
Also no, there is no reason for me to believe games are getting better than the best of old. None at all. Technology increasing and creativity is fine, it still doesn't make the games themselves better. It makes them better technical pieces but that really isn't all of a big selling point. I'm not saying games have gotten worse either. I'm saying that they are no where near the point on which we should put them on such a high pedistal. Developer performance is nice, its not a factor when I compare the elemnets of the games however. I'm not nostalgic when I say Yoshi's Island is a better platfromer than anything released. I'm also not nostalgc when I say SM64 isn't a great game and Galaxy blows it out of the water.
Gamers also are hardly worth listening to. We all have way too much of an emotional attachment to what we hype. I trust this message board about as much as I trust the media. That is virtually zero. There are a few people here who give good incite but gamer praise from people who take part is "System Wars" is not worth my time.

My God, have you ever played a good platformer or puzzle game? I reallly need to play Uncharted 2 so I can be disappointed by the aspects people are praising. I'm sure it will be a damn amazing expierence but I'm also sure I will not find any competent puzzles or platforming either.

Uhhmm... I am not sure if you are describing OoT of Uncharted 2. Seeing as OoT's gameplay, story and soundtrack can withstand the test of time and to this day people still think of it as the greatest game of all time means something. Uncharted 2 is amazing, true, but it is not revolutionary[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]

Don't go into any game trying to compare it to another and i'll think you'll enjoy it more. These versus threads are stupid. But i admit, atm it looks like uncharted 2 is my favourite single player experience.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="RadecSupreme"]

Same way if I watch a movie and hear "great action" I'm expectingsolid action in comparison to what I consider great action. The idea that I will go into a game with no preconceived notions is silly. If that were the case I might as well wipe the thought of every game and mechanic I liked out of my head when I play a new game.

Imo, that's a really negative way of looking at things. I prefer gaming now than ever before. But that's just me.So your goal in here is to basically undermine anyone and anything? Sorry to burst your bubble guy but you are nobody to undermine anything. At least try to provide an argument as to why a game is better than another. Can you give me one concrete reason why OOT is better than Uncharted? Even if it were, you wouldn't be able to because you have never beaten OOT, or played Uncharted. At least some of the fan boys on here would be able to.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]Not at all. This is a discussion board about video games, where people discuss video games. Not the integrity of who is talking about them. Sounds like you are on here for the wrong reasons.
Well duh, as to why I haven't commented on that (silly) debate. And no, my goal isn't to undermine anyone or anything. Where did you get that idea? But no, why am I going to argue something as subjective as this? If I thought it was worth discussing I'd finish Oot, play Uncharted 2 and bump the thread. I don't see it as worthwhile hence why I'm not going to.
And no, if you are going to tell me that "I'm nobody to undermine anything" you had best figure out what can and cannot be discussed in SW. SW is not just about game discussion. SW is about discussing the game industry as a whole and all the factors in it. That includes the reviewers the board holds up so highly. I know why I am here. If you think there is a right or wrong reason to be on SW and you decide it, you'd best get that hint superiority you have checked out.

I see what you mean, but as long as you don't compare it directly (like you said) and see the game for what it is, I think you'll have a better experience. Just don't even try to compare two different games like ocarina of time and uncharted 2.Well yeah. I'm not going to bother comparing. What is there to even compare? Graphics? Nope. Sound? Incredibly subjective. Gameplay? Subjective and not even similar at all. If you grade on pure design components you would probably have OoT win simply due to the fact that people generally say it holds up well after 11 years but its not really a fair comparison since Uncharted 2 is still being rviewed.
have both, played both, beat both (oot multiple times) and I must say that Oot is a better game, its longer and has a more engaging story with many more gamplay elements. That being said, Uncharted 2 is probably the best game of the year so far and I really enjoyed the story and characters. Its kind of like playing an awesome action movie and the last chapter was just epic.
