the only thing that can top this is metal gear solid 5 announcement out of nowhere for early 2012. that would be beyond epic. uncharted 3 goty favorite for 2011 for sure.

Nathan and Sully looking for the lost of of the "Atlantis of Sand" aka Iram aka City of a thousand Pillars in the Rub Al' Khali Desert in the Arabian Peninsula. Iram is basically Sodom or Gomorrah of the Quran.

So excited for this, Uncharted 2 is my favorite PS3 game. Although, I am a little worried they won't be able repeat what made UC2 awesome and improve upon it aka MW2 it. Universally acclaimed sequels followed by higher Universal acclaim are kinda rare.

So Uncharted 2 had the awesome train sequence. What will Uncharted 3 have?

maybe last gaurdian but its not mainstream enough to win goty (day one buy though), portal 2? really, for what? the first was a 3 hour game, it was pretty cool for a game included in a compilation. it will really have to do alot more to warrant a 60 dollar price. Uncharted 3 will surely be the "complete" package it takes to take a game of the year. story, campaign, presentation, multiplayer. also portal was a "gimmick" game. the portals were the only thing in the game, theres only so much you can 1 game mechanic like that. Uncharted on the other hand has platforming, puzzles, action, shooting, with alot of environment to work with. Portal 2 will surely be a nice game that would be better as a download on psn or xbox live for 29.99.

Oh were we talking about Uncharted 3 here? Yeah that'll be console graphics king if KZ3 can't surpass GoW3. GOTY 2011? I think Zelda: Skyward Sword would be more fitting.

interesting, will definetly keep my eye on that, if valve can produce a "full fledge" portal game that doesn't all take place in a testing facility, then i might consider paying full price, but if its basically test area after test area like the first then i will wait for a price drop.

I felt that 'test area after test area' gameplay you described ended after Glados tried to kill the player, after that it felt much more varied and 'behind the scenes'. Regardless, in interviews Valve has been adamant that Portal 2 will be very fleshed out, plus the new gameplay additions look awesome.

So what on earth did they do to Nathan's face...

Haha I hope not, but whatever. I would think a good idea would be some invisible force instead. Maybe you are deep within a pyramid or whatnot and all of a suddent the area starts shifting and things closing and whatnot. Some intense escape scene. THAT would be cool :).
