Uncharted 3's AAA score was completely unjustified

1. It's actually worse than it's predessor - just about everyone can admit UC2 is better. Gamespot didn't even used to give games that were slightly better than than their predessors AAA. They made a big deal about sequels having to revolutionize the franchise in order for it to merit an AAA score. Not only did Uncharted 3 fail to innovate, but it was actually worse.

2. It's a shooter and the aiming doesn't even work properly. Nuff said.

All three movies are hallways with mediocre storytelling. That is, if you can call shooting "bad guys" in your way while searching for treasure a story.

Whoops. Just spoiled all three games for anyone that hasn't played them. :roll:

They're nice games to look at though.

I thought the fact that it didn't have any forced stealth segments made it instantaneously better than Uncharted 2. I hated the forced stealth in UC2, let alone any game.

I like how in U3, ND gave the characters a bit more of a serious tone, kind of like they were trying to make it so they didn't get tiresome. They weren't just spitting off 1 liners and sarcasm like the first 2 games. Better graphics, story, animations, platforming, U3 is a better game than U1 and U2. I know that U2 is better than U1 technically, but U2 is my least favorite in the series.

Well that has been patched. You just have to choose atl shooting in the options menu.

its funny that people say it has bad aiming, even though they cant explain why. when they do its usually

"you dont have 360 degree aiming"

which can be refuted if you play either SP or MP for 5 seconds.

I enjoy the series quite a bit, but I kind of have to agree. Its a fun ride, but I've never really thought the games deserve the scores they get. And for the haters, yes, I am playing Uncharted 3 right now.

I tend to ignore words such as "innovate" and "revolutionize" when used by reviewers. Those are too big a word to be used in most games.

I rather have someone who specializes in a particular genre review a game in that genre than some generic schmoe. For example, I would prefer a flight sim enthusiast review the upcoming MS Flight rather than someone from say, here at Gamespot. I saw right away Gamespot have no real simmers anymore when a space combat sim got dinged in the review for requiring a joystick. Say what? I just shook my head on that one.

IGN would still be okay though. I think they still have a reviewer who spend a lot of time with the genre.

As for UC3, I think the score it received is deserved for fans of the genre.

Having finally played it, I can say it takes away too much control from me as a player for me to truly like it. I loved the perfect balance between the blockbuster movie feel with epic cutscenes and edge of the seat gameplay that Uncharted 2 struck, but Uncharted 3 goes overboard in trying to be a movie, and forgets that it is supposed to be a game. It's still a great game, and I wouldn't have it scored less than 9 by anyone. Personally for me though? As far as I am concerned, Uncharted 3, while a great game, is a step back from Uncharted 2.charizard1605

I agree. It's a cool game but while playing you do feel like something is missing. I also thought that enemy encounters were pretty ridiculous at times, even with the shooting fix. All video games request a certain suspension of belief, but for me there are lots of times where Uncharted 3 goes way over the line.

Did this dude just stumble in from the goddamn desert and get into a firefight with over a dozen mercs? Wait- How is he climbing anything? He almost died from dehydration. And this is pretty much every encounter. As much as I liked the ship and chateu sequences, Nate's ability to get through that is absurd.He is not supposed to be superhuman. It completely takes me out of things for a minute.

I think it's a little over-rated but still a great game.
