I loved UC3's campaign, but while the differences between an 8.5 and a 9.0 are trivial, it's still an 8.5 from me. I actually liked it better than it's predecessor (the first time through), but upon replaying it, I realized the lack of diverse ways that battles can be approached. One of GameSpot's pros was the plethora of means by which the player could win an encounter but, while partially true, this was only representative of a few gunfights out of the already relatively few gunfights throughout the game. The rest of the experience is gorgeous vista after gorgeous set piece -- still an excellent ride the first time through, but it just doesn't hold up as a game well enough the second time around.

1. It's actually worse than it's predessor - just about everyone can admit UC2 is better. Gamespot didn't even used to give games that were slightly better than than their predessors AAA. They made a big deal about sequels having to revolutionize the franchise in order for it to merit an AAA score. Not only did Uncharted 3 fail to innovate, but it was actually worse.
2. It's a shooter and the aiming doesn't even work properly. Nuff said.

I agree with this, beat the game and never wanted to play it again, I hated the shooting, it worked but wasnt fun, I just knocked everyone out. Story was weak and I didnt care about it halfway tru. Worst in series IMO. I liked uncharted 1.

Alot of games this year had a patch out at the start....
aiming wasn't patched at launch and a 10 hour game shouldn't have a aiming fix weeks after launch I don't think any reviewer until later on realized the actual aiming was broken before it was to late.

All three movies are hallways with mediocre storytelling. That is, if you can call shooting "bad guys" in your way while searching for treasure a story.
Whoops. Just spoiled all three games for anyone that hasn't played them. :roll:
They're nice games to look at though.

people praise the writing all the time, and like you I just don't get it. If this was a movie it would be a very bad movie. The cheeziness and cliches of the characters, plot and dialogue are the stuff of B movies.
I mostly didnt like the repeditive action sequences. It seemed every 2 minutes something bad happened against Drake. It makes me wonder if the man can go out and get his paper from the mailbox without a huge rip in the fabric of time tearing a gaping chasm in his front lawn that he meraculously holds onto a twig and climbs 100 metres to only just barely make it out alive, opens up his mailbox and a snake wrestles him to the ground.
After a while I was like "UGhhh" but I played it through to the end and still think its a good game, I will never touch it again though and am over the Uncharted franchise.
Uncharted 2 is clearly the best in the series. Even today, if I played both in 2011, I would say Uncharted 2 is better, which disappoints me. Therefore, its an 8.5 in my book. The game took a lot of control from the player, way more than Uncharted 2, the story wasn't as strong (I was OK with it being more serious), and the gameplay wasn't as tight. The pacing was no where near as good as Uncharted 2.
