If you actually believe this horse shit then I don't know what to tell you.

You earn the title of PC gamer through experience, longevity, knowledge and history with the platform. It's no different than the logic that follows being a Journeyman in a trade, you get there by experience and thousands of hours invested in the trade to earn your title.

Some things in life just are, and others are earned.

You don't earn shit. What sort of loser bullshit you are spurning out of your ass? There is factually no other criteria for being a PC gamer than simply playing games on a PC. You can create your own bullshit criteria but that doesn't make it a reality for the rest of the normal world which the regular folks happen to live in.

Earn PC gamer through experience. ROFLMAO. That is some prime bullshit. GhostHawk is a shit poster but he is a PC gamer whether you like it or not.

So you honestly believe that because any asshole off the street gets a PC and starts playing games on it that he is suddenly a PC gamer? You really believe that nonsense?

A person that:

  • Doesn't know how to install an OS
  • Doesn't know how to install hardware
  • Doesn't know what hardware to buy or how it applies
  • Doesn't know how to diagnose hardware problems
  • Doesn't know how to diagnose software problems
  • Doesn't know how to modify files
  • Doesn't know how to modify hardware
  • Doesn't know how to clean his file system
  • Doesn't know how to wipe drivers
  • Doesn't know how to configure drivers
  • Doesn't have any history with the platform
  • Doesn't have any longevity with the platform
  • Doesn't have any experience with the plaform
  • Doesn't have any knowledge of the platform
  • Doesn't have many hours logged playing games
  • Doesn't know how to modify games
  • Doesn't know PC terminology or what anything actually entails

and so on and so forth....

You find that to be a PC gamer? Fucking please... You earn the status by conforming to a set of standards for fundamental understanding, technical knowledge, and continued usage, it's not simply a given because you decide to jump on the bandwagon.

I'm a Journeyman insulator and I understand how the same logic applies to this, I wouldn't ask a guy who just happened to buy a bag of R-30 at Home Depot how to insulate a knee wall, wrap a crossover or how to air seal an attic.

Just because you do something doesn't mean you are something, you need to be ingrained, and fundamentally understand every aspect of it.

The logic has direct transference, it's a perfectly logical rationalization and analogy, and it makes sense. If you don't properly understand something you're not a credible or reliable person to discuss something with or bother asking about. It's in the same vein that I wouldn't ask a soccer mom who can change a tire on how to change a timing belt, she's not a mechanic even though she's worked on a car.

PC gaming isn't like a console, it's not plug and play, it doesn't just work, there's a lot involved with it that fundamentally needs to be understood from top to bottom before you are for lack of better words, on your own or able to handle the system as a whole, it greatly supersedes gaming itself.

Stop with this alternate reality. You do not need to know how a PC works in order to be a PC gamer. PC gaming; to a very large degree because of DirectX, is plug an play. Windows would typically update everything relating to gaming with video drivers being the main update. When you load a game on the PC is typically autodetects the best settings. When you connect a controller (Xbox is is preferred) it simply works. If you can operate a computer you can FACTUALLY play a game. It doesn't require any additional knowledge.

I cannot believe you trying to argue that PC gaming is not plug and play. That is really really absurd. But if your need to this false sense of superiority to sleep at night good for you. But don't speak your fallacy as if its is grounded in sound reasoning or logic.

It's not an alternate reality, it is simply reality as it stands.

You don't seem to know what plug and play means, it literally translates to plugging something in, turning it on and then you're set, does a PC just assemble itself? Does it install Windows on its own? Does it fix boot sector failures on its own? Does it diagnose blue screen issues? Does it diagnose hardware failures? Does it counter the other countless problematic situations you'll run into for continued usage on its own?

The answer is a flat out fucking no, and if you don't have longevity on the platform you don't know what in the hell you're doing and you're just a visitor who hasn't earned your keep yet.

Wow. Wow. Are you trying to purposely sound like an idiot? Because that was a really good demonstration of stupidity. This may come as a surprise to you but you can actually buy a computer already assembled and with Windows already installed. I know, its crazy but this has been the case for decades. I know that sounds crazier. So, are you done making an ass of yourself? Because I know you are not stupid but what I don't understand is why you are playing the stupid game. You can stop pretending now.

As a pc gamer, graphics is very important. It justifies spending $1000 every time Nvidia releases a new gtx x80 card (granted the games are worthy enough)... My raid 0 failed today so I ended up playing uncharted 4 again. I thought it was going to be a shit experience cause I've gotten too used to 1440p 60fps but man am I wrong. On a less than 2TF machine Naughty Dog somehow managed to make such a beautiful game, one which not many pc games can beat from a technical perspective... Granted the textures are not as sharp as Witcher 3 or Crysis, The sheer amount of detail in every single section of Uncharted 4 is beyond impressive, combine that with Naughty Dogs ability to use colour so well but not over doing it. Of course all of it is to compliment that very fun gameplay, lovable characters and interesting plot... The point is, just how the **** is Naughty Dog able to produce such a technical masterpiece using 2TF machine?!?

Only folks with aging PC's say things like "I care about your credentials." The tension among the PC userbase is probably more toxic than the console war. There just aren't that many here so it's not as exposed. But come on with this credential b.s. Do Cows that replaced their own HDD look down on those with the stock ones? What exactly does AMD or Nvidia have to do with what I said?

Also the irony being my "aging PC" still outpaces yours, so your comment was worthless. It should be toxic, I don't respect bandwagoners or people following trends and I don't respect individuals who have not earned their keep.

They devalue the platform by simply coming to it, it becomes less special and more mainstream filled with ignorance and idiots. People like me have been here for decades, we don't represent a trend, we don't represent a fad, we've been here long before it was the in thing to do and we'll be in it long after these people leave.

PC gaming has become a cesspool of morons who don't respect it, don't give a shit where it came from or where it's headed, they just want to fit in and ride the wave, I fucking hate it...

You have a 5960X, your extra 4 cores don't help for dick in games, also my 290X's are faster than a 1080 so your 1070 doesn't stand a chance.

You have a 5960X, your extra 4 cores don't help for dick in games, also my 290X's are faster than a 1080 so your 1070 doesn't stand a chance.

Guys!!! This thread is about Uncharted 4 and how awesome it is, not to compare your e-penises!!!

And could we please leave dynamitecop alone? He clearly has insecurity issues so lets not add fuel to the fire okay? Though on the other hand this is comedy gold.

@dynamitecop: Well those arent my full credentials. I have to go to bed. I will deal with this tomorrow. Check my pictures or go to the PC Hardware board. Ive benched with 2 Titan blacks and a 690 for Physx to prove that Physx cards still mattered. I would be more than happy to try something new. My sig is incomplete, yes. But I wasn't the one calling out credentials...

I haven´t ´posted here in a long time.

But damn, I should come more often to SW. Now posters ask for "credentials", what would be next? You should have spent at least 100+ hours to give an opinion about a game? o_0

Your not a real PC Gamer unless you can diagnose machine code, have a full knowledge of micro-electronics and a doctorate in electrical engineering!!!!

This is what i'm picking up from this thread.

Or, a pc gamer is someone who plays games on PC.

Also Uncharted 4 has nice looking albeit very flat surfaced lemons.

To all the reasonable people out there: Does this sufficiently prove my 'credentials' as a PC gamer?

Starcraft 2 lol? I would have respected this post a lot more had it been the original game. Man, your Steam account is under 6 years old and the most hours you have in any one game is 52 hours...

"PC gamer"

[citation needed]

Seriously? This again...

Okay well here my fucking citation:

What game do you want me to benchmark to convince you I'm a PC gamer?
What game do you want me to benchmark to convince you I'm a PC gamer?
Yes Triss is hot as **** on a 1440p IPS Monitor, would look even hotter on a LG OLED 4K TV but hey we can't have everything right?

All you've proven is that you're a graphics junkie. "As a PC gamer" in your case is still pretty meaningless.

The Xbone could easily run Uncharted 4's campaign at 900p, and you'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from the PS4 version. Uncharted 4 doesn't seem so technically impressive now, does it?

This is likely very true, another harsh reality with Uncharted 4 that people don't like to hear is due to the method of AA used, the game has a large amount of blur over the whole image which makes it appear like a 900p game.

I know this thread is about Uncharted 4 and I don't like comparing e-penises but for someone who claims they are so knowledgeable about PCs I'm perplexed by the fact you would argue over something which can be logically ascertained with certainty, I guess delusion has gotten the better of you.

For all those who aren't hardware enthusiasts or pc gamers, a Radeon R9 290X is similar but not as powerful as a Nvidia GTX 780Ti which is currently 3 generations behind the latest X80 Nvidia offering. I used to have 2x 780Ti OC in SLI and I'm telling you now the GTX 1080 gives more than 10fps minus the microstutter from SLI. GTX 1070 is equivalent to a Maxwell Titan X or 980Ti, all 3 are better than 2x R9 290X in Crossfire if you take into account their ability to utilise Nvidia's Gimpworks in certain games and no microstutter, whilst Sandy Bridge was a very strong gen of Intel processors which still hold up these days after overclocking, there is no way it can match an overclocked 5960X... Sure extreme cores are overpriced as **** and the extra amount you sink into it doesn't translate proportionately with performance, it is still nonetheless powerful.

Dynamitecop, mate, for your sake just walk away. You've already made a huge ass of yourself most people would have realised that and left long ago...

@dynamitecop: You are being silly. A PC Gamer is somebody that prefers gaming on PC as their primary platform. That's it. Sure, there are different levels of interest/involvement in the platform. People may not be as experienced or hardcore, but that doesn't disqualify them from being PC gamers.

My 980's which are faster than your R290X's are about as fast as a 1080. Your 290X's sure as hell ain't faster.

Or is this another case of your theoretical 290X's with 100% scaling being faster?

@R10nu: Err yes it is, that's why you keep posting the same picture over and over again. That's an intro level where basically all you do is swim. And although those trees are not as detailed as what's later in the game they are still not 2d sprite based.

It's not an intro level, it happens after you've been heavily exposed to basically all core game mechanics. Call it what it is: a slow walking (swimming) section.

With such limited interactions you'd expect it to look even better, no?

Try not playing it like a stage demo next time, aye?

They use the same tricks throughout the entire game.
