So it looks exactly the same with a higher resolution and double the framerate.

That's almost literally what you do with a game, you change the resolution parameters and set a higher framerate cap...
Welcome to a Sony "remaster".

I'm done.

No, it's not pushing a button, it's literally as simple as every game has configuration files within them with set parameters for the resolution and the framerate. All they have to do is alter those parameters and it's gone from 1280x720 to 1920x1080, and 30 FPS to 60 FPS.
It's not complicated, not even remotely complicated. The only complicated part they had to do was porting the game code over to function on x86, beyond that it's literally just a resolution and frame rate increase.
This isn't rocket science.
I was more excited before I watched that video. That sort of game doesn't seem too interesting right now.
Back to Rocket League.....

Dude....the files on your PC and changing them there....is not the same as what the developers would do.
I'm sure they're putting a little more effort into it.

Hence why its called a remaster and not a remake.
You guys don't quite get the point of why Sony has been releasing a ton of remasters. Its because a good portion of the PS4's install base never owned a PS3. This is a great way to get into the franchise before Uncharted 4 comes out.
Dude....the files on your PC and changing them there....is not the same as what the developers would do.
I'm sure they're putting a little more effort into it.
And I'm sure they're not, all of these files which exist on PC games were ported over from consoles, they're just unencrypted lines of code and operating parameters which existed prior. What you're doing right now is trying to make what Sony did seem complicated to give worth or value to this collection, I'm not fucking blind kiddo...
Like I said, the only complicated thing they would have to do is porting it over to x86 and the obvious optimization that comes a long with that.
So it looks exactly the same with a higher resolution and double the framerate.

What did they remaster? They increased the resolution and framerate, I don't see any new shadow or lighting work, reworked audio or textures, it's a copy paste job like every Sony 'remaster' is.

It still meets the minimal requirements to be considered a remaster. Better resolution and frame rate goes a long way my friend.
@nyadc: You're literally spouting shit that the average PC user knows and trying to pass it off as complicated PC knowledge.
Nothing you says proves that all they are doing is changing "resolution 720p = true" to "resolution 1080p = true" or some shit.

They may go a long way and clean up the image, but don't try to peddle this as more than it is. That's like me playing a game with a 30 FPS cap on my PC at 1280x720, moving the cap to 60 FPS and increasing my resolution to 1920x1080, I just remastered a game!

I'd love to hear your explanation as to what you think they have to do, you don't get this, what I am saying is literally what they did... I'm not even debating this with you, it's a 30 second change, maybe 20-30 minutes if the code is encrypted. That's the reason they can pop these remasters out in a few months, the only part that actually takes work and time is the porting and optimization process...

You can't compare PC to consoles, that isn't fair. Consoles don't have the luxury of being upgradable in terms of hardware.
This sequence was so freaking impressive six years ago but now meh obviously. It doesn't look like much has been changed to be honest. Not worth the day one purchase.

What does that have to do with anything?
P.S. Is the PlayStation 4 not a hardware upgrade from the PS3?

The games were originally coded for the Cell architecture. Porting that to X86 requires a tremendous amount of work, especially when you have to port three full blown games. The amount of recoding that has to go on is extensive.

Do you even read peoples posts... I literally said that three times in three different posts...

Then you should be rather impressed that they were able to get the games up and running at 1080p 60fps. Yes, the PS4 is around 9x more powerful than the PS3, but when you have to do such extensive recoding there is so much optimizations you have to do to get the game to even work right at all, let alone have it run at twice the frame rate and resolution of the original.

Why would I be impressed, you said it yourself in the very next sentence, the PS4 is around 9x more powerful. Sure they had to put in some work, especially with the convoluted architecture that the cell had. However, that doesn't negate the fact that the actual changes done we're extremely minute, they changed two things, that of which are as simple as configuration edits.

You do realize Naughty Dog isn't handling the Remaster right? Bluepoint Games is doing the remaster and I'm sure they were limited to whatever assets they were given.

They gave them the source code of the game, they were limited in nothing.

They obviously have a limited budget and development time. Anyways, most gamers are more than happy being able to play Uncharted again with simply better resolution and frame rates. The games already looked good on the PS3.

Sure, it would have been nice if they went all out, but is reasonable to expect them to be able to do that for all three games?
Will they sell the games separately? I don't give a crap about Uncharted 1 and 3, UC2 is the only one worth a damn.
Sony have really played this "let's take away backwards compatibility and charge them $60 a second time for every game" thing really well.

Maybe at least one of them, The Master Chief Collection for example came into existence because they were creating Halo 2 Anniversary because it was the anniversary, it had a real reason and point in being created. While making it 343 said 'let's just put all the MC Halo games in one bundle as a service to the fans'. Two of those games were what could be classified as full remakes, the third game got lighting improvements and the fourth game because it was so new and looked great anyways needed really nothing but a resolution and framerate increase. The point is the amount of work that went into what they did was massive, unheard of, this in comparison just seems like a cash grab, just like the God of War 3 'remaster' looks like a cash grab...
The amount of effort they put into these games is next to nothing, they don't do really anything, they just upped the resolution and framerate, ported it and optimized it, that's the extent of their work. What reason did this actually need to exist? Is it the anniversary of the first game? Did they recreate the game? No, their logic is it's for people that missed them... There's been countless consoles and I've missed god knows how many games over the years, does that rationalize all those games being ported over to a console the next generation? **** no, this shit is just a cash grab to get as many people as possible interested in Uncharted 4 so they'll purchase it...
Oh, and don't even get me going on God of War 3, the third game in the franchise? You ported over the third game and not the other two? Really? Could the laziness and cash grabbing get anymore obvious...
@nyadc: You think they add better textures by just simply pressing a button? It's not as easy as you are trying to imply. Also this is PS3 code being ported to PS4 which also no walk in the park.
FYI they are also changing/tweaking gameplay across all three games to them more uniform. Uncharted Drake's Fortune will need a lot of work.
Have they announced anything about multiplayer yet? I would love for a revitalization of the Uncharted 2 multiplayer like it was near release.
It will be nice as I only own UC2, never played UC1, and only played UC3 once. And the 60fps is an amazing addition.

What better textures? It looks exactly the same. Also where are they on record saying they tweaked the gameplay?
Have they announced anything about multiplayer yet?
Yeah they have, it doesn't exist.
I may receive it for Christmas. Only way I will get it. I will not spend my money on remasters. Not Gears, GoW3, Uncharted, none. But like MCC I am open to gifts LOL
I would play 2 again but 1 or 3? Screw that.
I'll play the Rare games I didn't play because I was never a Nintendo owner until the Wii. That's about the only remaster I'll buy.
@nyadc: They have definitely improved the textures. I saw some side-by-side comparison shot of the helicopter from that set piece. I looks like a blurry mess on PS3 compared to the remaster. I'm sure more comparison will come when we get more footage and stills.
Also the slightest bit of research would have informed you that are indeed making gameplay changes...which invalidates everything you have said about it being lazy.
