2 things
1: Arcadey type games weren't the only type of games, nor are they some golden thing anyone who values gameplay necessarily needs to be gassing up. There are plenty more simulation based, and then there are rpgs, and all that jazz. Even the cinematic styled games or story driven games of the 90s were great interactive experiences, and they didn't need the gameplay to be arcadey.
2: WHAT FUCKING ARCADEY EXCLUSIVES are we even talking about? The ones on the WiiU?
What the **** did the PS4 get Bloodborne and dog shit?
Xbox One ...nothing.
Oh you know, stuff consoles generally get compared to the PC centric games PC gets. Yeah the ones on the WiiU.
Look all I'm saying is, name a good PC exclusive title this generation that isn't indie. For the thousands of developers working on PC games, the ratio is fucking abysmal. It's shit.
Who cares? If your issue is "there is too much bad stuff on steam" that's on you and your inability to do some leg work.
Otherwise what exclusives? The WiiU is the only one getting the super gamey stuff
Halo? A genre that not only plays better on PC, but specifically Halo is a dumbed down version of what that Platform used to get (and is beginning to get back)
Fable? Same scenario as Halo, and way worse, because Halo is at least a good series
Forza? Racing sim
Uncharted? A third person shooter that is way too busy being cinematic.
All of which happen to be a style of game you get on PC still. The PS2's good to bad game ratio would be pretty fucking abysmal, no one gives a shit, because that's the nature of the beast. Good things are usually outnumbered by the amount of bad products out there. Last I checked, the PS2? Damn good system. Why a bunch of indie games get dismissed, for the better part of the last 5 years now they've been offering some of the deepest, rewarding, content rich, and gameplay driven experiences vs the parade of boring banal bitchwork that you get in modern triple A games, especially if they are open world is beyond me. But sure lets qualify it with the PC is reliant on an indie scene, or a middle tier project like Soma or strat games like Europa. Big fucking whoop?
They are still games, and they are very well made. And I would sooner play an Antichmaber, an Infinifactory, or a Swapper (the latter which did show up on a console), over an admittedly polished, but ultimately dull and underwhelming experience like Captain Toad. Is the PC going to get a triple A beast anytime soon? Eh other than the Starcraft 2 expansion probably not. It doesn't need to though, the sheer variety of genres covered and how many of them are quality and enjoyable more than covers the PC.
The amount of mediocrity that is celebrated as something special, just because it is exclusive to a console is to me far more offensive. Between the 3 consoles, the WiiU is the only one batting anything special exclusive wise in Bayonetta 2, and at least The Wonderful 101 and Splatoon for being fresh. Maybe we get lenient and bump 3D World and Smash for being a style of game that isn't prominent on PC yet, but the rest of the console exclusive lineup. Barely worthy of someones spit, much less their money. The PS4's best game is the 3rd best Souls game. That's how low the bar is for these machines, they can't hop that bar though. They are trying to play limbo, when I'm asking them to hurdle.
