Don't blame console owners. I'm sure most of us want Starcraft, but Blizzard isn't going to do it. It's not our fault some PC developers are money hungry and care more about the money instead of putting out the highest quality product.

Oh really...

1) Awful menu ... I noticed this the second I fired up the Demo .. not a big deal but it was awful compared with UT2004.

2) Double Jump ... what the hell has happened. .. not only cant we do trick jumps anymore, we cant even jump over peoples heads without struggle ... making it a strafe-twitch like console shooters.

3) Vehicle movement ....

4) Weapon enphasis on close range, particulally the flak cannon which is no stripped of its glory.

5) Huge hitboxes ...

i pretty much 100% agree with everything you listed, although i cant comment about Halo as i haven't played it yet#

I personally dont think Halo 3 is that great. The melee was not so great, graphics were not at all that great either. Replay value was definatly there, but after 1 play through, i just had enough. The scarab fights were cool though, they should have had more of those kind of battles, but thats just my oppinion. A 9.0 is what Halo 3 deserved imho.

Come on, everyone knows these games deserve AAA minimum. I have played all 3 of these and would prefer to play these over Halo 3 (no, i aint a fanboy).

Well in terms of halo 3,no respected review site/mag would give it a low score in fear of being scrutinized,same with gears,people would be like "omg they gave halo 3 a 8.5!!! they must be crazy!!" and there 'respect' would go down,well i mean people's respect for gamepsot reviews seem to be going down all the time as the amount of these thread that keep popping up in gamespots forums,but most of the people who post topics like this are fanboys so...whatever.

Also another factor people can't seem to get there heads around is that anything under a 9 is considered garbage and a 'flop' which is sooo...uhh well it's soo ignorant tbh.But then again you could say it's partly the big review sites/mags faults for given the top hyped games of the year big scores when they know they don't really deliver,or i could be totally wrong and Jeff honestly thinks halo 3 is worth a 9.5,then well....I've lost all respect for that guy lol

Unreal III really isn't that great - I was in the closed and open beta. think gears, but with weird vehicles, some strange controls, and fast and incredible loose gameplay.

i'm a fan of the adage 'if it ain't broke' but Epic really dropped the ball on Unreal III, it feels more like Gears than it does Unreal - and even the parts that feel like Unreal just aren't 'right'.

Halo 3 deserved 9.5 because they threw in one more function that Halo 2 didn't have? Hell, EA sports games do more than that. I've never played Mass Effect, so I can't make a judgement call on that. Uncharted deserved a 9. Ratchet and Clank deserved an 8. I've not play UTIII, so I can't say either.pielover666

contextually yes it does.

remember games are reviewed based on the time they game out and what the expectations were back then.. and TH3 blew a lot of hats off people at the time.

The Mass Effect score was due to several problems within the game that occur often. Uncharted is just an average good game, not the AAA killer PS3 fanboys were hoping for.

UT3 plays TOO MUCH like Gears, and looks TOO MUCH like gears. it's not that fun, i was in beta for 3 months, closed and open. i had far more fun with previous Unreal games.

Partly true. Developers make games with a mass appeal in mind. Fewer games nowadays are targeted at the more experienced players, nowadays in terms of complexity, sadly. They could at least make games withactual "advanced" modes as well as normal modes. But no, that would be too time consuming for certain developers *cough* EA *cough* Rush through everything. Yes, there are alot of complex games coming up still, but half ofthe games that I wanted have become too simple or multiplayer-orientated. Wtf, what happened to long, decent games which have good storylines? Call of Duty was a huge disappointment for me, I wanted a long-lasting single player campaign. Hopefully, Haze will remedy that. I can only play PC multiplayer on my aging comp, none of the new games, nothing new since 2006. I play RTS as well as shooters and RPGs, but I like to vary between the sort of games I play.

The Orange Box is a must for me, you can always trust Valve to come up with great games. I haven't played any of the "episodes" yet, either.

They all seem pretty reasonable to me. Merely because you play the game and like it doesn't mean everyone who is going to play that game is going to like it. Did you even pay attention to the thread concerning how GS gives its rankings? A 1 means nobody will like it while a 10 means everyone will like it. A 7 means the majority of people within a specfic group of gamers will like it and so on... Scores are not completelt based on game quality rather they are based on game quality as well as how many people will enjoy the game.

Thats intresting, although it makes sence it seems like a very strange way to review a game.

I think they all deserve AAA

nope they are fine unreal 3 got an good score and is near to other sites (85% GR)

uncharted got what it deserved no way is it AAA

mass effect got what it deserved too many bugs

Did someone in this thread really use the height of a double jump to insult consoles? What a stretch just for the sake of backing up a completely invalid (and purely opinionated, supported by no factual evidence) point.

As soon as you can show me an interview with Epic that says the reason the double jump is smaller is because of consoles, then you have a valid point. And we know that's never going to happen. And does the height of a jump really simplify a game? Come on...

Zelda:TP - should have gotten a 9.5 instead of an 8.8 (IGN gave it a 9.5)

Metroid Prime 3 - should have gotten a 9.0 or 9.5 instead of an 8.5 (also got 9.5 at IGN)

For the love of God how the hell is a 8/8.5 bad in fact it says great right under the score.:evil: Do you know what means? IT MEANS THE GAME IS GREAT NOT SUPERB BUT GREAT which is exactly what those games are great but not supurb. Why can't you people understand that? Actually, it doesnt even mean that here. Games that are awesome, but have technical issues or something else about them that might make people who arent fans of the genre not like them get 8.0-8.5 scores. Games like Mario Galaxy and Halo 3 which are accessible by almost anyone get 9.5 scores here. Some games like Ninja Gaiden and Crysis are so good that Gamespot actually bends the rules.
