Not really my favorite, but the GBA-SP becuz I was younger back then I had the most fun with it. Im not exactly a big handheld guy anyways. I only had 3: GB-Color, SP, and PSP and the SP was the only one I actually played the hell out of

I never liked the idea behind handhelds nor i ever will. If i had to choose one of them though i would go with the most ""innovative" of its time that brought some great games as a handheld which is oldschool Gameboy. And thats it.

How is the Oldskool gameboy Innovative and brought great games? The Old Gameboys 90% of the library is pure crap. All the good games are ingored because those systems didnt sell. Oh and yeah, Innovative?

Kinda liked the Gameboy Advance, But the DS has some pretty neat games.

I don't know what to choose. Also the 3DS has some amazing stuff happening to it that is making it seem to be my favorite handheld.

It plays Game Boy games, and that's what I own. I never had a fat white one, as I did all my handheld gaming on the Game Gear until Pokemon came out.

I have only ever owned 3. The original Game Boy, a PSP and a DS. I guess my favourite is the Game Boy because of Tetris, mario and Zelda. Then the DS has been good fun although I never use it. The PSP I had on launch and only had Wipeout and a game that I cant even remember the name of. I liked it but never played it and sold it about 3 months later. i still have my original Game Boy and gave the DS to my ex girlfriend so she still had something to game on.

Back in the mid-90's I had a Sega Game Gear with TV Tuner similar to this:

I haven't had any handhelds since until the original DS and PSP1000. I want the Vita next.

Back then, most countries still had broadcast TV. The TV tuner was awesome although the Game Gear ate up a lot of AA batteries when I used it on the road. He He.

I've only had

Gameboy Color

Nintendo DS Lite

PSP 1000

PSP Go

and as far as what i've loved as handheld, it was easily the PSP Go followed closely by the DS Lite.

Go did everything i wanted a handheld to be, except it had zero support.

Uhmm... the Nintendo one for all of them. The DS is my favourite overall, followed by the Gameboy Color, and then the 3DS, and then the GBA.

I never understood how the original Gameboy sold so many units. Probably because of the lack of any real competition, because it has the most god-awful screen. Just try to play Donkey Kong Land 1 on the original 1989 one. The game runs great from a performance stand-point, it's fast, it has a steady FPS, it features great graphics, but, due to the atrociously bad response time of the LCD, in some parts it becomes almost unplayable. From it's generation it's still the best handheld, the 'competition' was too weak. From all the versions of the grayscale ones I prefer the Light. It's hard to find one, but it has the better response time of the Pocket + a backlight.

I think the Neo Geo Pocket was way cooler than the Gameboy Color, but it failed due to lack of games (was it ever released in Europe ?). The Wonderswan isn't worth mentioning as it was only released in Japan, but it looked cool, had some Final Fantasy games on it, and was designed by the Gameboy's designer.

The GBA didn't have any real competition.

The DS won.

Are you serious? it was teris. Tetris attracted people to the system which later attracted them to Pokemon and a few other games while the majority of the library as filled with horrible games. Tetris got on the Gamecube way later, and while the Lynx has **** loads of quality games (and some bad ones here and there) they were overshadowed severly by tetris mostly because it was easy, and cheap and it appealed to casuals, and tetris got the Gameboy all it needed. Everything without tetris was irrelevnt.

I liked the GBA the most, design wise. I haven't played with the DS/PSP much, but I liked the DS a lot. Didn't really like the dual screens, and it didn't feel as solid as the GBA but it has an awesome line-up of games.

What? How?

The technology behind that system was amazing at the time; the graphics were full color and they looked great. The system was quite powerful and Master System games were easily ported to Game Gear Cartridges.

I think it required six batteries and they would drain at the speed of light though. And software support was weak since they were competing with Nintendo.

I don't think the Game Gear was that advanced. Both the Atari Lynx and Nintendo Gameboy preceded it. But, it did have a lot of games at the time and the TV tuner was wonderful. Plus there was an adapter that allowed Sega Master System cartridges to play on the Game Gear.

Atari Lynx had a bright backlight and full color with 3D effects with an adapter to play 2600 games (and I think 5200) It had wonderful software and if I am not mistaken had made more profit then the Gamegear did well, until they pulled out because of the Jaguar but yeah.
