What makes the most sense for someone who already owns an original PS4, but doesn't care about Xbox exclusives?

Would it be smarter to sell your current PS4 and put that money towards a pro, or keep current PS4 and pay full price for a Scorpio? Wondering if Scorpio will be worth spending the extra money for a 40% improvement in multiplats over the Pro.

I will be upgrading towards the Pro. Scropio is still a year away with no idea about its price. And remains without worthwhile exclusives.

Maybe the Power of the Cloud will render the Scorpio in DX12 while Hololens creates the highest quality pixels.

Someone offered me $250 for my original PS4, so I might go for the upgrade for only $150.

Save yourself the troubles and just buy Nintendo NX, the real deal next-gen console, not these fake ass next-gen consoles.

I was going to get a Pro but now I'm like I don't even have a 4k TV so I need to spedn $800 on a 4k TV then $400 on the console so that's $1200. Now that price isn't really an issue for me but then the PS4 pro doesn't have a UHD bluray drive so I would still need to buy another media player. Or I could just buy a PS4 slim (looking better and better the more I think about it) and when I upgrade to 4k TV buy a scorpio next year. Sony dropped the ball on the pro. Looks like microsoft will deliver a more complete 4k experience so if you dont have a 4k TV what's the rush?

It will have crap third party support and will be weaker than the OG PS4, let alone the Pro.

@NFJSupreme: Then a few $100 on a SSD. I recommend the 1TB for $299. Will help with speed and the extra data for the advanced games.

Tough question. I really do think it comes down to a number of factors like whether or not you actually want both or whether or not you want to move to a new ecosystem, how much you're willing pay / wait etc.

How long are you willing to wait for 'better performance'? I ask because chasing after better performance alone is a losing battle because there's nothing to say that Sony won't release a PS5 or PS4 Pro + in two years which would out perform Scorpio. At the end of the day, PS4 Pro will be the most powerful console for at least the next 9+ months.

Tbh, if you're unsure, I'd wait until we know more about Scorpio to decide whether or not to upgrade or get Scorpio.

You don't need a 4K TV to benefit from the Pro or Scorpio. Games will still take advantage of 1080p screen with enhanced visuals and or performance. I just hope more Devs go the Crystal Dyanmics route with Rise of the Tomb Raider where they give you multiple visual fidelity options depending on the resolution of your screen, or if you prefer better performance over graphics.

keep the original PS4 and get a scorpio. As much as we all love exclusives here. everyone knows that most people play like 95% multiplatform games. Having both systems means you get all the exclusives plus you get the best multi plats as well with the scorpio. and if you play online, the best online with scorpio as well. No need for both subscriptions and since sony doesn't really make MP games , i can do without plus. I'm not renewing my plus personally anymore. Had it for 3 years now, barely used it

not according to what sony showed and what i'vebeen hearing from devs. If so they sure did a piss poor job of showing what the advantages of having a Pro for a 1080p screen is over having the regular PS4.

also that cpu is still crap and terrible for feeding a GPU at 1080p at high frame rates. That aspect of the system has not changed so I really question just how much you are getting at 1080p. Sony didn't once show a game that now runs at 1080p 60fps on the pro compared to 1080p 30fps on the OG PS4

The question you need ask yourself is whether or not an upgraded PS4 that will play all (if not most) of your games better worth $150. If yes, then go for it. You could very likely get both over a span of 12 months without any issue. What I wouldn't suggest getting is the Xbox One S unless you don't see yourself upgrading to Pro or getting the Scorpio, which doesn't seem to be what you want.

super sampling and better lighting i already know. That's not moving the needle for me and a lot of people. I'll just wait for price drops. My PC kicks ass anyway. When I get a new TV i'll get a pro but all this does is make the Slim look like a good option which is win win for sony i guess.

trade in your OG PS4 for the PRO.

Come E3 when MS talks more about the scorpio specs and what the system is capable of you can decide from there if you want the scorpio or not.

if Yes: trade/sell your PRO towards the scorpio

if No: just keep the PRO.

problem solved

You can buy a PS4 Pro in November. If you have a good 4K TV it will be an excellent upgrade for all your PS4 games. 1080p there is still an improvement but not so noticeable. I suppose you could ignore all that and wait till the end of next year suffering an inferior PS4 experience in the hope Scorpio will be amazing though I can't imagine why anyone would put off great gaming for a whole year unless they're an all out casual who just dips in and out.

The Pro is very cheap for what it does. You can buy one and then have a whole fucking year to save up for a Scorpio if multiplats are your thing. I don't know why people are so cheap about gaming hardware when they blow tons of money on everything else and think nothing of it.

It would be my multiplat machine, but if the difference between Pro vs Scorpio in actual real world situation isn't that huge then maybe just upgrading to Pro is the better option for me.

My friends/neighbor who thinks we are streaming live, asked me: How about your mothers anus?

I apologize. War.................war never changes.

Yeah, NO.

If I bought One of these upgrades, why on God's green earth would I settle for the 4.2TFLOP one? When 6Tflop is 11 months away?

Is it related to pee pee size?

Nobody gives a flying **** about your PC.

I'll be getting Scorpio and keeping my PS4 for exclusives. Doesn't make much sense upgrading to the significantly weaker console.

Pro is more viable contrary to what others say. $400 for a console twice as powerful as PS4 is a damn good deal, u get the excellent exclusives unavaiable elsewhere, and multiplats will largely run fairly similar between scorpio and PRO. God knows how much scorpio will cost with those specs: $500 or 600 easily not including VR a year away. Pro and PS VR could easily drop price of both down in a year while scorpio would empty the bank account with games u can get on pc or run similarly to PRO. So whats the point?

Why do you think games will run similar to Pro on much better hardware? That makes no sense. Scorpio will have to run games in 4K natively for anyone to sit up and take notice. Xbox has no exclusives anymore so it will have to sell on performance and they better get the price right too but I don't believe for a second you will get similar performance on Pro that you'll get from Scorpio.

Get the Pro if you want to keep your PS4 games and still get the benefits. Get the Scorpio is you don't mind switching ecosystems, it's all about the games in the end and what platform you have them on.

@blueinheaven: It really wont be much different between multiplat games. Developers dont waste their time making a huge night and day differences between consoles especially when the weaker ones brand is dominating the market

@blueinheaven: i think you missed my point. If i have a pc i can wait. Im not missing out on anything. Especially this year. Not saying i will but the option is there. U can unind your panties now

I think you missed not only my point but the point of the whole thread. The thread didn't even mention PC's it's a console discussion but you want to make it all about you and your PC. You're basically talking to yourself on a thread that has nothing to do with you. That must feel kind of lonely, and weird.

Huge night and day difference incoming on the vast majority of PS4 games with the Pro for people with 4K TV's. Developers obviously completely wasted their time doing that, I am going to go ahead and assume they will do it again with Scorpio. No doubt you will be on hand to tell them how futile it all is, a hero and a visionary is what you are.

Neither. Sticking to my XB1 for the long haul of this generation. I'll pick up a Scorpio when it's the right time or my XB1 really dies on me.

I was commenting on the comment I high lighted and only the comment I highlighted. That's why I specifically highlighted it. sorry that went over your head but carry on.
