Upgrade to PS4 Pro or get Scorpio?

No, I meant I wouldn't mind upgrading from Playstation to Playstation every 3 - 4 yrs, because you brought up a potential PS5. So I guess I kinda answered my own question then, since if I did get the Scorpio eventually a PS5 will come out that outperforms that anyways, so I guess why change the ecosystem when all my games will be carried forward now that they switched to X86. Thanks for helping me out.

Every comment I have made on this thread was aimed at console gamers. It doesn't apply to PC gamers who can upgrade every aspect of their system when they want to move to the next level. One console v the other. It's not fucking difficult to grasp bro, really it isn't.

@blueinheaven: You honestly believe all the Madden, Fifa, CoD, Battlefield games are gonna be totally night and day difference between scorpio and PRO? They really wont be dude. Kind of underwhelming, but hey, that's what I've come to expect from this Gen of consoles.

I'ts about time to invest in a 4k TV, so maybe I will just treat myself and get the Pro and a 4K TV in time for Xmas.

Then when Scorpio rolls around (which I have no doubt will be much later than MS would have us believe) shit will already be set in play, ready to roll.

Hopefully I can just throw my 2TB Drive from my current PS4 straight in, although it might even be worth going bigger as that one is nearly full already.

Scorpio for me. The PS4 is already stronger than the Xbox One so there is no real advantage to purchasing the Pro. And besides I don't have a 4k TV.

the pro would be defenitely worth it and this is coming from an xbox fan. I don't care for playstation exclusives, but if you're looking for a multiplat system and/or playstation exclusives then I would sell that ps4 as fast as possible, it's going to drop in price severly and the ps4 pro is a bargain.

You will get better performance and quality on the ps4 pro, even on a 1080p tv.

I'll be upgrading to a PS4 Pro because I heavily use my PS4 now. It's my most-used console by far. So a PS4 Pro is kind of a no-brainer for me.

As for Xbox...I don't have an Xbox One at all. I only have a 360. So at the moment I'm thinking I should wait for Scorpio before diving into the Xbox pool again. I'm *so* tempted by the Xbox One S - if the Scorpio weren't fairly close (i.e. 2017 sometime), I'd probably jump on the S.

The one that has the games you want. I don't see why you'd choose a system, regardless of its power advantage, if it didn't offer the games you want. Now, since you already have a PS4, whether or not to bother with a Pro upgrade is its own issue

I own a ton of ps4 games since they ran better on ps4, and most of them are getting free upgrades on the pro.

I see no reason to switch especially since all my games get a free upgrade while xb1 scorpion i would have to rebuy all my games for any kind of improvements waste of my money an time. I'm wrapped up in the playstation ecosystem since all my games i bought for it will get upgraded free.

You didn't watch the meeting texture quality, preformance, draw distance and framerate are also upgraded. You can run TR at maximum settings.

The developers need to make the upgrades happen, it's up to them to add the support for old games.

Why would someone with a ps4 switch an entire eco system when scorpio comes out?

It's not like PC where oh AMD made a new graphics card better than nvidia let me switch it out.

IF You switch and sell your Ps4 pro for scorpio all those games you have to rebuy for xbox one they won't work on xbox one its not like steam or pc you have to move your whole eco system over to xbox all those videos you bought on ps4 are gone all those games all those digital purchases

STICK with one eco system imo don't double dip all over the place imo especially on consoles.

@ProtossRushX: You can rebuy the games for super cheap, or get them on that games for gold. Could just sell you PS4 copies for same price to buy used Xbox copies. Its easy to switch when have physical games.

But if you have digital, yeah, can keep your games, etc, and buy system to have two.

@ProtossRushX: You should get the Iphone 7s, it will be the fast version. I only buy S versions. If you want something cheap, id go with the Xbox One S, best bang for your buck.

@ProtossRushX: They have plenty of time to make it 4K. They were just trying to trick Sony into making a 6 flops one. Sony fell for it and released a weak console, now Microsoft is in the lab cookin.

Upgrade to Pro. Scorpio has no exclusives so it's a pointless machine. Sony steps up their game late during the gen so you'll be getting better games for sure.

Any GPU can miss 4K/60 fps target i.e. it depends on the game's resource consumption, hence why NVIDIA's G-sync and AMD/Display Port's Free-Sync exist on PCs. It would be nicer if PS4 Pro and Scorpio supports FreeSync over HDMI.

1070 and 1080 are nice GPUs but there's a reason why $399 complete working games machine solution are not built with these GPUs.

Please be aware of consumer spending habits.

Most high end PC effects has very high computation and memory bandwidth consumption with lesser visual quality gains.

Anyway, for Scorpio...

PS4 Pro has 4K rendered games i.e. programmers can budget their game's resource consumption to fit target goals.

RX-480 has 5.83 TFLOPS

R9-390X has 5.9 TFLOPS

980 Ti has 5.63 TFLOPS

1070 has 6.5 TFLOPS

The result roughly follows GPU's TFLOPS power rankings.

Summary,

The "Sweet Spot" resolution range requires a 4K UHDTV.

Sony can spec GTX 1080 and Intel Core i7 machine, but this config install base would be worst than Wii U or Sony is unwilling to post massive lost to subsidize $399 price target.

Companies such as MS and Sony are not charity organisations.

So I ended up selling my OG PS4 to a friend for $250 and will preorder the Pro tomorrow. Thanks for the input guys.

What settings were the games on? Were they on ultra were on they low?

That chart doesn't tell us anything and who made it i don't trust anything AMD says for themselves we need to know the settings thats most important thing.

Any card can run 4k if all settings are on low and the game looks like crap.

Some charts was from AMD i.e. same PR materials that AMD sends to other companies like Sony or MS.

AMD sourced benchmarks and game console programmers would be careful with tessellation usage (e.g. Witcher 3) and other NVIDIA Gameworks related effects which are heavy with tessellation. PC benchmarks are filled with GPU benchmark politics.

Ultimately, both Sony and MS looks at the hardware's asking price and nuked NVIDIA from the game console supply list

The main reason why I use AMD sponsored games are mostly due to game console's exclusives which is 100 percent AMD code path with zero NVIDIA code path.
