[QUOTE="ATrillionaire"]Halo has the best story I've ever experienced in a video game. The problem is, that story isn't explained well in the game, and I, too, wouldn't understand much of it had I not read the books. The books are wonderful science fiction fun, and trust me, they really open the story up in the game. Maybe Bungie should clue people in who only play the game on some important elements with a free fiction guide or something.Coyo7e

you clearly have not read, watched, or played that much....

halohas no message

MGS4 portrays on the world not and how its getting to a point where war is what the world revolves around

Dude, you need to learn to accept other's opinions and not try to overide their's with your own.

i respect eoples choices, im just telling you that you shoudl look deeper into the story and plot before saying anything

and im not overideing them with my own, im saying my own, im not changing your quote, like a lemming did to be a few min ago

Busting out Metal gear story lines as great story telling is not your best weapon.

I despise metal gear story lines. The characters feel dull and and cookie cutter to me.

Am I saying you are wrong for liking it? no.

In my opinion metal gear sucks. Halo is just as good as metal gear if not better as far as I am concerned.

I agree.

MGS's story was mostly gibberish.

And the boring way in which they told it did nothing to make you care, anyway. (In fact, I fell asleep during a cutscene in MGS 2.)

Yeah, no other story compares to that certain "halo feel." The game sucks you in and makes you feel like you are part of something epic, huge, and very important. other games may have great stories, but they can get dull and don't have that feel of importantness.

It wasnt the story that gave me an epic feel for halo 1. It was the epic battles. Never had a console ever seen anything like that. WHen halo 1 came out I will say the PC hadnt either. Half life was awsome..... but not defending your position against swarms of enemy like halo... a position you picked out and what at the time were huge wide open outdoor enviorments.

Cant recall the name of the mission but it was mission four.... were you get dropped into an LZ on the beach.. a hot LZ..... that was insane.

Andpeople say halo doesn't have a good story.

II-FBIsniper-II

People who say that don't take the time to understand it. It really is a great story, addressing a lot of cool questions about the origin of life in the universe.

They must have not played a tons of great story driven games. :oVandalvideo

Like Crysis, UT and Far Cry?

You might as well take the plot elements completely from these games. Their that bad.

For me it was both the huge battles and simple, yet complex story. I loved that battle too.

Man, I wish people would just buck up, and admit that Halo has an amazing story. It really puts you in this epic, exciting world which is beautiful and vast. It's high time people start respecing Halo's story as well as it's gameplay.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, remember there was a huge battle at the end of Two Betrayels, mission 8, there's a huge battle with more enimies I have ever seen in one setting...in 2001. That's why Halo is considered one of the best FPS, no other game is like that yet.

my 360 broke last night. no joke. MS says it will be 1 week to recieve the box (halo 3 is out by then) and 3 weeks to fix. I have been a halo fan since NOV.15th 2001. Now Im left without anything. And my B-day was the 16th, I actually paid in full for the dang game already. I am in such a bad mood.

Halo's story "is rich and complicated in ways that we're not used to in video games," Lev Grossman declared recently in Time. The level of lore rivals that of Jane Austen novels, he wrote, and its quality is Wagnerian. "Halo takes itself seriously as, if not art, certainly a spectacle. But art seems more apt."

Halo does "what a truly good book or film or TV show does," says Peter Molyneux, a pioneering game developer (Populous, Black & White) and founder of Lionhead Studios, which like Bungie was acquired by Microsoft. "Halo delivers it in a way that more than ever before is emotionally engaging. In our industry, Halo represents pretty much the top of the game of what we are able to do with our dramatic content."

Uzumaki_Naruto5

publicity much...halo has the worst story ever, designed for the USA of today

MGS has a real story

pretty much every FF has a real story

Killzone has a real story

heck even kingdom hearts (made for kids in japan by square/disney) has a better story, i watched thehalo 3ending its just as i predicted.

and i can tell you this halo isnot emotionally engaging in anyway, im starting to think this guy is joking

when i see master cheif i feel no emotion, you knwo why because he cant show emotion, even if he had a face, the game engine sucks too much to give him emotion

Even though your a fanboy I kinda agree with you. Master Cheif has no personality or character at all. He is just a blank character who casuals think is cool because he do teh big jumps and shoot people. He has no personality whatsoever which is just stupid.

I agree

Blade had no emotion either....yet his original movie was very good(sequels sucked)...

He isn't meant to have emotion...the entire point is to show that one (almost) human of an unknown race, nationality and religion can unite humanity and make them put aside their differences.

WOW. TIME, you fail, play MGS before you start talking about storylines in games, that's art. How is Halo's story good, there hasn't been any character development on Master Cheif since the first of the series. I'm throwing away any of your trash that comes to my mailbox from now on.

I think you guys are kind of forgetting something about Halo when you dismiss its story and single player.

Halo FEELS epic. From the moment you turn it on and hear that bad ass theme music, you feel like you are really taking part of something big, and this whole sense of being involved in something that is on a grand scale comes from its success in the SP area.

Halo is one of the few games that really makes you feel like you are part of some grand event. You feel like part of the epic Halo world.

MSG isn't that orignal either...it reminds me quite abit of the 007 series ( generally speaking character wise....come on in MSG3 he even has his own "bond" chick basically....If you look into it( I dont remember which movie) you will find that James Bond once had his own Russian Girl he met while on a mission....does that sound familiar?)

But I only played MSG3 So I could very well just be talking out of my ass
