USA Today: "PS3 sales abysmal, Wii top dog"

Despite the buildup and hype around its arrival in November, the PS3 has been outsold so far — at a rate of almost 2-to-1 — by the Nintendo Wii.

In February, the Wii was the top-selling console video game system with an estimated 335,000 sold, outpacing the Microsoft Xbox 360 (228,000) and the PS3 (127,000), according to The NPD Group.

The Wii is still trash. It can sell 352356236236 but it will have no good third party games due to lack of power. AHUGECAT

Heh, frankly, I don't consider the Wii apart of the 360/PS3 consoles. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii. With that however, it is an entirely different type of entertainment as to what the PS3/360 give you.nowakawon

Not really, maybe a few exceptions, but some of the best games had top of the graphics (for their time), ie Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Halo, Final Fantasy VII, etc. etc.

Exactly! That's why the Wii60 thing is so good. You get the best of both worlds.

well after playing all 3 and owning 2 i say 360 is the best wii is fun for a little but i find myself quickly bored with the gamesGen007

Yeah Xbox 360 is by far the best. It doesn't need primitive gimmicks for fun gameplay.

Then great wii games just need to optimize the Wii's power to its full extent, they may not look as good as PS3/360 games but they sure as hell wont look bad... I mean just because titles like Metroid Prime, RE4 and Halo are now last gen dosent make them obsolete, they are still just as good as when they were released, even with out the shiny high def gloss of this gen.

As long as the games are optimized for the Wii,Wii will get some great "new" titles.

it's not suprising that a news source would comment on this story. the only people defending these sales have been Cows. that should tell us all something.Dreams-Visions

Sometimes I feel pity for the die hard Cows from SDF. I really do. They finally get some happy news with Home and LBP.....And then less than a week later, get socked by a one two combo of NPD numbers and DMC4 going multiplat......I mean, it seems right now as much as Sony wants to go forward, the instant they take one step forward, they are forced two steps back by events out of their control......POOR cows! So they are now desperately damge controlling to make their favorite console look good when it's ever slowly sinking now.

Are those official sales for Feburary? If so doesn't this sound the death knell for the Wii?

It went down by 100,000 units between Jan and Feb. The 360 is not moving. PS3 looks like it needs life support.

The GC catered for my tastes more, Metroid Prime 1&2, RE 4 & Remake, Killer 7 (minus horrible loading), Zelda WW & TP, Paper Mario, SC: II (with Link), Eternal Darkness, Fire Emblem etc.

However I would be lying If I didnt say I envied the likes of Okami, Silent Hill, FF & DQ as well as all the JRPG love you guys got...

What sad damage control but what else can you expect from cows these days. Even if you take out the Wii the PS3 got outsold but the GBA...the freaking GBA come on. So much for Sony 100 million user base to give the PS3 the edge. People dont want a mediocre system with  nothing but lackluster games and a expensive price tag
