Users with Defective Xbox Ones will be Given Free Game

Microsoft is offering a free first-party game to some Xbox One users affected by hardware problems. Microsoft said in a statement, "While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios."

A digital copy of the selectable games -- you'd receive one copy of Forza Motorsport 5,Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, or Zoo Tycoon -- will still play on a machine with a malfunctioning disc drive, of course. In addition, Microsoft is replacing hardware at a faster rate than usual with its advance exchange program; Microsoft is sending replacement units before users mail out their faulty machines for repair.

Very classy of Microsoft. On the other end(Playstation), I heard that people who were having problems were only given $10 PSN when asking for it and that they had to wait weeks in order to get their replacement sent if not going to Sony directly.

That's assuming you can get thought to MS and can afford the 10 hour wait on a premium rate line. And then have $500 to put down in order to get your xbox anytime in the next century.... yes its a nice gesture... but it doesn't fix all this and everything leading up to this through out the year... haha silly lems :)

if ms really cared they would give you the option of using the free game token on anything, even for future releases

@danabo: However they are only doing replacements to those that call... chat support does not count

If you select warranties and repair and then chat, it's the same thing. They'll even get you a call back at a specified time if you want to talk over the phone.

Ahh those were the worst days in gaming. I had so many problems with my PSX systems. It was so amazing of a system I stuck with it though.

I like that they are letting you keep the console while a new one ships. I mentioned in another thread that while it wasn't ideal but that playing a downloaded game would at least be an option if your drive crapped out. MS even one upped that idea by shipping the replacement first. Good news for those unlucky ones with the broken drives.

Also, if Microsoft is giving away free games to anyone that has had faulty xbone hardware, that tells you that the problems with xbone hardware are becoming more common.

Games are easy to give away and they are planning to give away a lot of them as a quick "fix"

Microsoft thinks that this can fix the problem and make everything go away. Wrong on all fronts. Typical Microsoft being shady and incompetent.

Just to go off topic for a moment, by all accounts the Xbone is having much bigger hardware problems then the PS4 too.

PS4 failure rate is at 1%

Xbone failure rate is already pushing past 15%

So all the xbots who were jumping on any little negatives they could find with the PS4 and blowing it way out of proportion, even making up lies about PS4s "bricking," its time to eat that karma now.

The issues with the xbone are REAL and widespread.

The xbone is going to get blowback 100x worse now for all the FUD and BS xbot shills and xboner fanboys were trying to spread about the PS4. Well deserved.
