UT3 on PS3 Gets First User-created mod

The public release of those tools remains in limbo (don't worry; it shouldn't be too long 1UP's sources say). In the meantime, Epic themselves have stepped in and using their developer version of the tool have packaged up a surprise Holiday treat for PS3 UT3 gamers. The first ever user-created, not to mention free, map for Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 is DM-Shrine by Thomas Browett, who goes by the name Setheran on the official UT3 forums.

Finally having Epic step in and force it before the tools are even released just makes this a DLC, not a mod...

Nobody is even implying that. HOWEVER, this is hardly something to brag about.

As for the actual chances of real mods coming to the PS3, it is honestly going to be rare for modders to even bother. Epic screwed up big time making it so that modders have to REMAKETHE ENTIRE MOD on the PS3 tools. How much time do you think they honestly have? Big time mods take 1-2 years to make for one platform. The teams are only 10-20 people strong AT THE GREATEST. Do you really believe they will take all that time to port the PS3 version?

While I am sure it will happen for some, many will ignore that opportunity all together.

Yea there are 3 consoles that are in competion here. Thats why its there is systemwars. Hermoits just chime in to state the how much better it is than everthing else. Its stale. There a tread about the best CONSLOE graphics and there are 20 posts saying CRISIS TREAD. It dosent even consern you.

The PC has always been a part of System Wars. If you feel it's so superior it doesn't need to be included, that's your opinion, but mods have very clearly stated it is part of this forum.

If your so bugged by it I suggest you find another discussion forum where the PC is excluded instead of whining every time it rears it's head (in a topic about maps and user created content no less, obviously someone was going to bring the PC up).

Why? The pc is upgradeable and has no hardware constrictions. It just dosent seem fair or fun in anyway. The only thing hermits do here is put down consoles and talk about how bad#$$ the pc is. How we are all "tools" and are games are weak compared to pc. You really have nothing to add to systemwars.

you mean your pc.. why would you hook up a monitor to a HDTV...... and yes, you can easily hook up a PC to a HDTV or a HD projecor (in my case).. but this thread is about the ps3.

Tall Poppy Syndrome at it's finest.

It's here because it shares a lot of the titles with consoles, it directs the flow of console advancement and in many ways, is a vanguard for software and hardware in the industry.

That's even demonstrated by this thread (which is rapidly slipping off topic). Consoles are attempting to emulate things the PC has excelled in for years; the first UT3 map on PS3. Obviously the PC is very relevent to examining the state of gaming.

You know were allowed to discuss the DS and PSP too, even though their different to the consoles.
