Pretty disappointing it's for PSP. Oh well, I'll pick it up.

This is wonderful news. All of the sudden there are a lot of really great titles coming to the PSP. Hopefully there will be a UMD release, in both regions.
[QUOTE="mitu123"]Yeh but why is it not on the PS3 i don't get it.Well, looks like I need a PSP now. The sequel to my favorite PS3 game can't be missed.

The PSP is extremely popular in Japan right now.

Why PSP can't have awesome games?[QUOTE="navstar29"][QUOTE="pyromaniac223"]I went from extremely happy to extremely sad in the space of a second.NoobisMaxcimus
it can get awesome games sure, but not at the expense of the PS3.
I guess thats true. Although I personally think that both; the psp's and the ps3's upcoming lineups are stacked. Personally I think Sega should have made it for both the PS3 and PSP. It would make a lot more sense, hopefully its still possible for them, with the engine already made for the PS3.[QUOTE="navstar29"][QUOTE="pyromaniac223"]I went from extremely happy to extremely sad in the space of a second.pyromaniac223Why PSP can't have awesome games? Sure it can. I'm just sad I can't play the sequel to one of my favorites this gen. Really no PSP? The PSP's lineup is looking quite awesome, plus its had a lot of awesome games in the past. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get one, unless of course its out of budget, you lack time, or you just have an immense hate for handhelds.
Why the PSP? I'm really not liking this move, not every franchise need to be on a portable. Instead of getting an improved sequel, they rather downgrade it? I don't think the CANVAS Engine will work well on the PSP. luisen123maybe they are saving it up for Sakura Taisen 6 or Skies of Arcadia 2.... let's just hope they really are.
I still need to finish the first one, great news though.
On another note, god DAMN the PSP has picked itself back up.

Skies of Arcaida 2, yes. Sakura Taisen ... ugh ... I hate games with dating sim aspects. I would have bought the first two for my Saturn if it wasn't for the dating sim aspects. :(
Anyways, the reason why it's on PSP is probably because SEGA wouldn't give the producer a PS3 budget, but was willing to let him produce the game for PSP, which is essentially the equivalent of a PS2 production so it's all good.
[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="mitu123"] I don't get it either.mitu123PSP has a larger install base, and a largerr install base in Japan. So I'm assuming thats what mattered to the guys who made this game(i don't know there name). Oh, that explains it, never thought of it like that.
Not to mention the development cost will be considerably lower. I wonder if the 80% reduction in PSP dev kits + increased focus by Sony toward the PSP had something to do with this as well.
I wish this was a PS3 game, but I'm just happy it's being made right now.

2x the install base, and a fraction of the cost to develop for. Also, this game's primary market is handheld crazy at the moment.
I can't say I wouldn't prefer to have a PS3 version, but I'll enjoy this thoroughly nonetheless.
I love the first game, but I have some doubt about this one... Dunno. I guess I just wish it was on the PS3.
Nice, all the good games are now coming out on the PSP. Seems like Sony is really taking it to the DS. david_lck
I think the "war" with the DS is over. But Sony has finally realized that they still have a profitable platform in the PSP, with nearly a 50 million install base. They'll never beat the DS, in any way at all other than technology, but they don't have to "beat" the DS to make a boat load of money. With proper attention from Sony and massive dev support, the PSP, and its eventual sequel can be very profitable platforms for Sony over the next decade.
i am so angry right now,all good jrpgs are releashed for handhelds......make them for consoles like last gens you lazy bums developers ,all you care is for quick cash.at least change the name to valkyria chronicles exa or sth and make the 2nd for the ps3 or 360.jrpgs are hard and long to develop but they are the major reason i own consoles,if they stop coming out then i will probably bail.imagine final fantasy xv to come for psp, that suc#%@^%s.those bloodT@$^%@ idi5@$^%$

im playing the first one right now, and it's pretty good. i actually love date-sim so that's probably why, but the system they have is.... well... intense, it keeps you on the toe despite being a date-sim. but that system is only on 5th one and the remake of first one on ps2if they made them for consoles they'd cost 30 million dollars, take 7 years to make and sell like crap RPGs belong on handheld and that's where they should stayi am so angry right now,all good jrpgs are releashed for handhelds......make them for consoles like last gens you lazy bums developers ,all you care is for quick cash.at least change the name to valkyria chronicles exa or sth and make the 2nd for the ps3 or 360.jrpgs are hard and long to develop but they are the major reason i own consoles,if they stop coming out then i will probably bail.imagine final fantasy xv to come for psp, that suc#%@^%s.those bloodT@$^%@ idi5@$^%$

Somehow i got the feeling that in 2010 we'll see another Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 but its great news that VC2 will be available on PSP.. Its a day one purchase for me :)
Sony / 3rd Party devssurelyare doing a great job with supportingPSP, there is a huge no. of interesting upcoming titles (mostly exclusives) which surely will make all PSP owners happy and probably get the attention of new gamers who'll buy a PSP Go..

we'll wait and see, but imo we'll surely see an announcement...

every game for console costs alot, they dont take 7 years to make but 2-4.and they sell great if they are quality games ,check ff games, dragonquest games, etc
rpgs dont belong to the handhelds, they belong to the consoles, they should have the best cinematic expierences and thats only possible on consoles, ffxiii will sell like hotcakes and the developers will see that a polished rpg can make them money.

1. Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 is well known for being a great title.
2. The best RPGs are foundo n consoles (excluding ports).
3. Valkyria Chronicles sold well enough (especially in Japan) and did not take 7 years to make.
4. You have an irrational hatred for the PS3.
They seriously could not have announced a game better suited for the psp or one that would get me more excited to play it. I mean the style and gameplay of the original i think will translate almost perfectly to the handheld
This pretty much confirms I'm getting a PSP. I might have to sell my DS for the cash.
Oh and how is anyone complaining that they will get to play awsome VC on th road? Word is the graphichs are still going to look great. Not like the original was a Crysis killer to begin with.
I went from extremely happy to extremely sad in the space of a second.pyromaniac223Likewise. The disappointment is epic.

developing games on HD systems takes up a tremendous amount of time and resources, doubly so given the PS3's convoluted useless architecture
if you want cinematic experiences watch a movie, if you want androgynous gackt clones jumping around with swords watch that crappy final fantasy 7 movie if you want games buy a better system
somehow i doubt that they'll be bringing the series back to a gigantic failure like the PS3, especially since it costs to much to make games for the thing and no-one in japan owns itwe'll wait and see, but imo we'll surely see an announcement...

Actually it's no that hard. :P
Developing games for the PSP has to be considerably cheaper than the PS3. And considering most sales for VC came from Japan (where even there it was pretty low) it makes sense to develop on the cheaper hardware and higher install base.

1. and?
2. not any more they're not, have you been paying attention this gen?
3. no it didn't. it only sold about 200k, and we can safely assume that it took longer to make than a PSP game
4. irrational suggests that i cant provide reasons for disliking the system, you and i both know that i can

1. + 1 for the PS3 and a great reason to produce it for the PS3 again
2. I'm not talking about this gen; I'm talking about throughout the history of gaming. And really, the handheld RPGs this gen aren't that great.
3. Was that before or after tha 200% increase and does that include the Japanese sales or were you even aware of those?
4. You might be able to list a few reasons, but other than complaining about its complex architecture, would any of them be valid?
5. Oh please, cinematic experiences in videogames have been important in many games beyond the JRPG genre even since the 90s and have had amazing results. Most of them better experiences than that awful CG movie you referrenced.
