A card game
A dota card game
It's like the richer Valve gets, the cheaper they get in their game production.
before clicking the thread i knew it would have been F2P. but its a card game??
Valve no longer game development company.

Valve is only interested in copying Blizzard games now.
DOTA, a mod for Warcraft once
A card game now, probably like Blizzards card game.
What's next ? An overwatch copy?
This made me think that Valve should release a HL3 card game just for the lol.
People would go mental ! xD
Or a "Half Life 3: create your own adventure" type game :p
Ah well, Valve and Blizzard love to copy each others ideas, they been doing it for years. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, considering it's a Valve backed F2P game on steam, it'll probably do quite well.
It's not Valve backed.
It's created in house by Valve.
@R4gn4r0k:
It might as well have been a card game about Half Life 3. That would complete the giant middle finger to the fans.

Valve not making HL3 in house should be a Crime!
Overwatch is already like a less fun version of Team Fortress 2. I'd love a Team Fortress 3 so I don't have to play Overwatch for my teambased FPS fix.
I'm playing Day of Infamy, Rising Storm 2 and battlefield 1.
Great team based shooters just not the same as TF2 or Overwatch.

Agreed Gabe Newell should be in jail :P
It's great digital card games are doing so well.
Thank you Valve.
Valve certainly popularised in game gambling and selling crates or skins on the market place in the last years.
Thankssssssssssssssssss

It's not Valves fault everyone around them is evil.
Friendly reminder: This card game will have more gameplay than Uncharted, Last of Us or any David Cage game.
Also it's free, Valve (a world class developer) is giving you this game for free.
So entitled.
Friendly reminder: This card game will have more gameplay than Uncharted, Last of Us or any David Cage game.
That really doesn't matter to me though.
I enjoy games like TLOU and Uncharted, eventhough they are on rails.
Heck I enjoy linear on rails shooters like Half Life too :P
I have never played Heartstone and have no intention to ever do it.
But man, imagine another shooter from Valve ? Now that would be awesome !
They make games?
No they don't.
That's crazy talk :P
Valve can just **** off at this point.
what the hell do they even do all day. honestly there have been next to no meaningful improvements to steam for years and they don't make games anymore.
Hearthstone, Gwent, Elder Scrolls Legends, and now this. Are collectable card games truly that popular?

It's interesting seeing how disconnected Valve are now. These are the guys who were forward thinking in specifically building Halflife 1/2 with modding in mind and low spec computers. Changed the game with Steam to a deluge of poor imitators who were never really as successful because they didn't view pc gaming as a different beast separated from console gaming. Maybe success has gone to their heads like Rocky 3.
You must be confused.
What they are releasing here is another business model.
Games aren't made at Valve any more and all of the money from Half Life, Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead sales that built them will not be making it back into the industry.

I guess it's down to apathy.
They could make another Half Life but then all the money is in online games (yeah right)
They could make another online shooter, but then all the money is in card games.
Seriously for a privately owned company they make their decission based on what shareholders would make them do...
But ok, I'm getting off track. I genuinly think Valve doesn't even care anymore, they don't care about their franchises (Left 4 Dead, Half Life, Day of Defeat), they don't really care about their fans, heck they don't really care about Steam either.
All they care about, it seems, is that next big market that can bring in loads of money.

Well I mean they are business, at the end of the day.
Difference is they generally haven't been as big an asshole as possible about it.
Witness the Crowd's Excitement!
Lmao.
I think we just have to come to terms with the fact that Valve isn't going to make AAA games anymore.

3 games in development.

No I don't think Valve develops anything with "3" in it. Nice try.
Valve can just **** off at this point.

They curate the platform and collect obscene amounts of money.
They have found a way to collect all the money they will ever want or need with the most minimal amount of effort possible.
@uninspiredcup: But are they 'proper' games like Portal and Half-Life or just games like this card game?
@endofaugust: They don't curate anything on Steam though. You pay them a hundred bucks and 1/3 of the sales and BAM your game is on steam. It's really that simple, it could be an asset flip, or not even your own work and just stolen ideas, or nothing you actually worked on. Just pay em the hundred bucks and 1/3 of the profit and it's good enough for Valve.
Just last month 200 games were allowed onto steam, or last week. I don't remember, if Valve doesn't care, why should I ? xD
@uninspiredcup: I'm gonna read that as "games" for now. Until Valve proves it still knows how to develop proper stuff.
Also read they are working on VR "games" so they might just be techdemos and not even games.

I meant curate in terms of keeping up the platform itself.
LOL what a joke. So many valuable IP's, and they make a fucking card game.
It's disgusting, honestly.
Where the hell is Left 4 Dead 3?
That was one game we know was actually being worked on and was a part of Source 2's development. My question is, where is not only a new game but Source 2?
