Valve is an overrated Developer

Yeah they are overrated. The only games I like of theirs are HL2 and TF2. They aren't bad , but they aren't the best.OnlyZiiDane

I like Blizzard and Bioware (ill pretend DA2 doesn't exist) a bit more than Valve, but I don't think Valve are overrated. Overrated is what I would call just about any first party dev for consoles. They are presented as making way better games than they do.

ill give props to them in the fact that they listen to the community and have no problem giving away free dlc. Unless thier arms are twisted by a company ala MS to put a price on items. We saw where that got MS.

Overrrated? Sure they are. But this doesn't mean Valve isn't one of the best developers out there.

Valve is an overrated developer, I agree wholeheartedly!

Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat? Left 4 Dead? These properties were not original - Valve just bought them and brought the developers to these games in-house.

I have more regard for their digital distribution system (which is fantastic, addictive, and easy to use).

They only made one good game, and that was Half-Life. Half-Life was awesome. Half-Life 2 and its subsequent expansions were merely good, but pale in comparison with the original game.

CS was really good but its a mod not really created by valve

I really dont see the appeal of TF2, I thought it was really boring and the paying for weapons thing just made it worse

Portal was good but really short

L4d1 and 2 got old quick I would never pay more than the 6$ i paid for it

HL2 was the most boring game I played in my life, I never even got around to beating it and this is with the cinamatic mod

I love valve for steam but their games are meh

Also I find it funny when cod devs use the same engine in there games they are called lazy, but when valve does it everyone still worships them. For the love of god the source engine is like almost a decade old!

i tend to agree. didn't like left 4 dead, dont like team fortress, or counterstrike, portal was ok, the only thing great they have done is half life.

They are gods. They've been delivering incredibly high-quality games for over a decade now. And have revolutionized modern PC gaming with Steam.

What game has valve made that isn't good, plus their ceo isn't full of crap like every other ceo is.

And what other developer has created the most successful video game digital distribution service on a home platform? Oh wait that's Valve :lol:

Idk if they are overrated, I would say they are one of the few developers on here that get their dues while others are bashed so heavily that they just seem like they get more praise then they should compared to anyone else... I mean EVERY other dev. that makes fps apparently makes boring, casual, generic shooters. Valve is the only one who doesn't make Generic FPS according to this site.

Valve is an amazing developer because they keep putting out excellent games that are well worth the money. Even long after a title has been out they still release DLC for it and its free. Plus they have developed one of the best online markets ever, Steam!

Valve isn't as good as many claim they are, but they're still a good development house. I may not care for Portal or Left 4 Dead, but I do care for some Half-Life. And they tend to have good multiplayer games like Team Fortress and Counter Strike, so they're good, but not everything they touch is instant gold in my opinion.
