Valve is Overrated

I'll just use this as evidence--> they created a 4 hour generic zombie game (in every sense-- even generic shotgun, etc. weapons)and yet people try to pretend that game was anything more than good.

And really, in short, they really only make smaller games. They haven't made a full production since HL2 really.

While I agree that people give Valve way way too much hype and prestige, they are still a solid dev and haven't really made a bad game. L4D is by no means bad (slightly overrated sure) although I agree that you get the feeling your getting copped out 60 bucks for no content but that is where the replay value. However, if your the kinda guy that doesn't like to replay old stuff, then don't get it.

I agree with you. Valve does make good games, but they are far from the Holy Grail of game developing that their PC cult will lead you to be leave they are. On a side not you are about to be crucified by PC gamers for challenging the all mighty Valve.

The term overrated is overrated. I'm sick of it. Things get rated the way they are because that's how the majority of "raters" feel. Majority opinion > Minority opinion when it comes to determining how something is rated. You just don't like something lots of others do. Your rating is different. Valve and L4D are not overrated. Except maybe to you, but the term is asinine.

I'm sure some poster is going to come along with objective deconstruction to prove a "superior" opinion based on sensing nuances and other inane traits to somehow dictate to people that they are right because they are better, or smarter, or can piss farther then the ignorant masses.

lol at TC´s 4 hours. I spent more than 200 hours playing it and im still not bored. One of the funnes games i have ever played and an impressive level design!!! :D

I'm talking more about technical perfection.

At launch their games are usually nearly bug free, and they usually run very well, and can be scaled back to run on old hardware.

actually unless you use cheats and exploit the game by taking short cuts the game is around 6-8 hours long.

However valve put a lot of explotaions in it to let you skip through levels fast

IE in No Mercy where you can skip the whole beginning apartment part by simply jumping off the roof onto a heater down below.

I haven't played L4D beside the demo, but Portal and Team Fortress 2 are awesome. And TF2 gets major updates which are great. I think Valve is one of the best developers out there so I disagree with you.

These days it can be difficult to find something that isn't over rated. At least Half Life isn't completely generic. Left 4 Dead = generic. Halo = generic. There's a lot of high rated series out there that are generic.
