1. They didn't want to put a "Next" or 2 in the name because of the psychological effect it might have against a PS3. Using a unique number like 360 eliminates the "3 vs. 2" issue.

2. They named it for the all-encompassing (as in it's all around you, 360 degrees) experience intended with the console.

You are missing a lot of this point i'm making. All other Valve Software and games on 720. Left 4 Dead for example. You should see the amount of threads in the Sony forums asking if they may get Left 4 Dead. So surly we will have a Left 4 Dead 2 on 720 most likley.

Gordon Freeman 3 on Xbox 720 will DEVASTATE Sony as far as system sales in the states next gen.

Half Life 3 very likely ending up exclusive for Xbox 720 and all other Valve products and games. Could mean system hatred for a Sony system in the states next gen. I mean Valve already boycotts Sony and even says they stink now.

We all know Valve is at the top of the list for games and development. Maybe not in Asia but USA we all know this.

Sony not having Gordon Freeman and company in the USA is a very bad bad thing. And will do MAJOR DAMAGE to A Sony system in the states.

The only company that can kill a system now is EA. If EA decided to exclusively support console 1, console 2 would be dead.

I have to agree that if EA decided to support only one console then the competition would be hurting pretty badly as EA has such a huge part of the market. However the point is to make the most money and with development costs so high this generation all 3rd party companies are going multiplatform so that they can be sure to make up their dev costs as well as larger profits.

ie-GTA 4, FF 13, Bioshock, Resident Evil 5

Even the Orange Box was ported to the PS3 by EA.

I doubt EA would decide to support only one platform no matter how popular it becomes. Companies know that they can make money by going multiplatform so if its an option they'll go for it.

It could go either way PC games half become much more the norm on home systems these days. And Valve may decide to develop simultaneously for 720 and launch same day as PC.

Irony? He is just going in order, like people call the next PS "the PS4". What happens when you double 360? You get 720.

On topic: I do not agree with TC about Half-Life 3 being exclusive to the "720". Even if I was I doubt one good game would kill off Sony. Did MGS4 kill off 360? No, not even close.
