Which of these otherwise great devs is the most notorious for making us wait eons for new games?

Valve (no mention of anything new yet, let alone Half-Life 3)

Team Ico (may require putting a gun to their heads in order to have them decide on a release date for The Last Guardian)

Team ICO because they've made only two games in the past decade.

When it comes to games quality I prefer Team ICO. Hell, compare TI to any dev out there and it wins for me. The fact they even only made two games yet makes this feat even more impressive. I felt really bad when Fumito Ueda left TI, like when Nirvana fans felt when Kurt Cobain blew his brains out :P

edit: Ok, didnt read TC, only the title :). Its still Team ICO cause TLG waiting is getting me desperate. Been waiting impatiently for their next game since SotC and that was like 7! years ago. In each year came out HL2: Ep2? I doubt it was more then 7 years ago

Team ICO easily. Their games are good but nowhere near Valve's quality not to mention it takes them too damn long to release anything.

I don't know maybe replaying it when it rereleased on PS3 kinda made get tired of it. I remember loving it when I got it on PS2 way back. I still prefer most of Valve's offerings a lot more than SotC

If Shadow of the Colossus had a decent camera then it could possibly be considered better than anything Valve have released.

for Art Direction, I'd go for Team Ico.

If there is one set of Games to go for for it's art it's Team Ico's Games.

If you just want to play and have fun and not care about whatever crap, play Valve games.

Loads of Fun can be had with Left 4 Dead 2 or Team Fortress 2.

Valve has put out 20+ games since 2000, with two more coming this year. Team Ico has released 2 games in their lifetime. This isn't a hard question to answer.

Out of your choices I'd say Team Ico, but Blizzard is worse than both when it comes to making fans wait (well, except for WoW).

Possibly for a first time experience, but Valve's games have much bigger lasting value simply because many of them are multiplayer, like TF2.

Episode 3 was actually announced before The Last Guardian was. So, in this case, Valve would be the worse developer for vaporware.

Not so much these days "my sig" is based on my memory recording of my gaming history. there was bound to be more of one genre than the other. but I have spent more time on MMOs and MOBAs than shooters. Still, my point stands, you climb giant being ins rather simple game for 15 hours ... yes it was good. but what next? oh right, one time gimmick concept. vs a slew of very high production value multiplayer games that are still some of the most popular on the platform today?. Yah...

Valve releases games, just not the game everyone wants. CS:GO is coming out next month.

If you condense the game to it's simplest concepts maybe, but you could easily do that for any other game to. Half-Life? Run around and shoot stuff. Portal? Just running around shooting holes in walls.

If the concept was so great why has it not been largely mimicked? because it was a one time gimmick, a nice experience that will not become tried or true. Or are you going to neglect the fact that I wasnt making it THAT basic, that literally is what Shadow of the Collusses consisted of, the game had no depth.... only in its variants of the ideal. Half-Life opened up the modern shooter. Portal 1 + 2 are 2 of the best puzzle games of all time, and with steam workshop there are now 1000s of more complex puzzles that even valve didn't implement ... far beyond climbing a few golem puzzles that were mostly simple. Counter-strike is still one of the top played shooters of this day due to its die-hard core mechanics and polish. Team Fortress 2 is massive, constantly updated and living proof that Free2Play can be amazing. And here comes DoTA 2. still in beta and already competing with LoL. but with much higher production values, better competitive scene and proof casual market doesn't always win. So really, your point doesn't fly with me. SoC was simple by all means.

So a game has to be imitated to be good? COD must be one of the greatest then and by that logic Portal must not be good either since I don't see a lot other games where you use portals to solve puzzles. Saying all you do in SotC is climb colossi is simplifying it, that is the basic concept of it, yes, but most games can be summed up in a similar way, get from point A to point B. What matters is the means in which you do so which is what makes games like SotC, Portal, and Half Life great to begin with.

No, its quite easy to answer really. Team ICO is still better. Why? Because those only 2 games surpass anything ever made by Valve BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS!

See? I can simplify whole games with minimalistic aproach too

yes, Valve games have more replayability but that not automatically means they're better. I only beat SotC twice and its experience was more unique then any valve game I've ever played EVEN if Valve games lasted me longer. SotC is my fav game ever. Not even one valve game is on my top 25 of all time.

I think it depends on a persons definition of replay value. If game has to keep offering new things to keep you interested, is that really replay value? I've beaten SotC around 30 times, still not bored of that game. Hell, I've beaten MGS3 at least 60+ and not bored of it either

[QUOTE="Kaze_no_Mirai"]Team ICO easily. Their games are good but nowhere near Valve's quality not to mention it takes them too damn long to release anything.lx_theo
Shadow of the Colossus is easily better than anything Valve has released.

Not even close.

I'm a huge Shadow fan and only really like the Day of Defeat games from VALVe... and I agree.

I think more than anything Valve has earned the right to have it's most anticipated game in a very long development cycle.Since Ep. 2 they've changed the entire landscape of digital distribution. I think they could get a pass for making us wait for HL3.:)

Off topic: Breaking Bad. Hell YEAH.

I honestly think VALVe is waiting until they need to make a new engine to make HL3. It's about time Source get either a substantial reworking or complete replacement. There is only so much patchwork upgrades that they can do before it starts showing it's age. And yeah, they definitely get a free pass for really stepping up the bar for DD. I find it almost disappointing that Team ICO barely has anything to show for the last 6+ years of development (they started it right after Shadow and given us a pretty trailer). The rumors about Ueda being a control-freak perfectionist aren't confidence-inspiring. I heard they've restarted the entire game several times already. If I were in charge of signing the cheques going to their company, I would have put stop-payments out a couple years ago. Off-topic: Hell yeah! *high five*
