DOTA 2 eh? They hired Icefrog, not RIOT games. As it was the guys behind RIOT games that made DotA. This is selling another person's product without his consent. This is pretty much an IP theft, but since from what I am aware of no one actually owned the IP therefore while it is legal, it is still very immoral.

Icefrog was not alone in creating Dota-allstars,

The problem is he had no hand in actually creating DOTA, he just took over after few years. So creators in good faith left it for him and he cashed in on it and ran away. He even had a nerve to call it DOTA.And knowingly purchasing stolen goods is what Valve did.
Ouch, I knew this was bad but not this bad. My respect for both Valve and Icefrog plummeted, really low. I just hope this DotA 2 is free like Alien Swarm was or else I will be really angry.
Edit: according to Blizzard's EULA.Blizzard has rights over any icon/names/code/etc from WC3 and over any custom map, but not the concepts. I assume this means that if anyone has the right to do DotA 2, it would be none other than blizzard, correct me if I am wrong though.
