Vanilla Crysis...underwhelming!

With all these Crysis threads floating about I thought there wudnt be much harm adding another! Hopefully it floats to the surface! When you guys talk about Crysis being the most ridiculously good looking game ever created im assuming you guys are talking about modded crysis as opposed to vanilla crysis! Cause ive got Crysis running at 1680x1050 on my computer with a mixture and high and very high and while its overall the best looking game ive played its certainly not head and shoulders above everything and it most certainly is no where near photorealistic! Sure you can take a pretty screenshot somewhere, which quite a few off you are quite good at on this forum, which makes the game look amazing but in vanilla crysis anyway i find it hard to belive you can just ignore all the low resolution textures that like to stick out like sore thumbs! Overall the game (or any game for that matter except Machinarium :) ) ceases to amaze me graphically! Damn the consoles for limiting the pc's graphical experience!

Vanilla Crysis doesn't look too bad. (But of course modded Crysis looks better)

And as far as some low-res textures go? That's to be expected considering maps are literally more than 5 times the size of KZ2 or Halo 3 maps.

I think it looks great, why does everyone try and pick on Crysis? It never works, running out of things to post about in SW.

Try putting everything on Very High and Enthusiast for Warhead and then come back. It will still look better than Killzone 3/Gears of War 3, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, etc.

I think Crysis looks great, but not as good as some hermits make it out to be. Its not a generation ahead of consoles. I have a few mods for Crysis that do make the game look much better, but the vanilla version is not the best overall graphics I've seen.

I'm not a fan of football and I LOVE the anime, that's how good it is. :P

It has the perfect balance of action/drama/humor. It's over-the-top (Players running at the speed of light, quarterback threatening people with guns) and it just makes it better. :P

Plus it does a great job in teaching you football if you don't know the basics/advanced plays.

I agree with TC: Machinarium is one amazing looking game.

How is it not? The consoles have 512 mb of ram total, and 5 or 6 year old graphics cards. You are wrong about that.

Lol i got some people agreeing with me :) I think i can survive without the shields. Im pretty sure i said overall its the best looking game ive ever played in my little opening paragraph....yup there it its! Why do u guys have to get so defensive so fast over Crysis's graphics? I can see why you annoy half the board. When you talk about Crysis you should really talk about its fantastic gameplay instead of its graphics! And thanks for the unmodded pictures of Crysis, thats more or less exactly like it looks on my computer just add a few jaggies and stick by what i said. It is not head and shoulders above every other game in every graphical catagory.

If the likes of Uncharted 2 and killzone were on pc and werent the jaggie low resolution messes they are on the consoles they would easily compete with vanilla crysis i think! I replayedd Crysis warhead last week (a jobless bum like me has nothing better to do) and the only part of the game that really impressed me graphically was when u were in the cave! Now that looked (and sounded) amazing! Its only when you run crysis on the top of the top computers with all the best mods in custom levels were it gets into a league of its own in terms of graphics!

It has an ending, but the anime is 145 episodes long.

And the manga goes further after the end of the anime. (333 chapters)

btw most of the graphical mods you see only change crysis' colors or if you consider changing color a great leap into a whole new crysis

I suppose Crysis can look pretty bad at 1280x768 2xAA/16xAF and an offscreen shot......

Meh. Good enough for me. Excuse the moire patterns. It's an old LCD TV. Plus, the patterns don't show up while playing.

Better yet, Crysis has some of the most enjoyable gameplay in a shooter this gen.

Crysis wins.

I have never modded my crysis, and i still say it's good in both graphics and gameplay.

Still looks better than any console games.

Chocolate Crysis is much better, you should try that 8)

Yeah, I find that some hermits do get overly defensive about Crysis. I've never personally played it and I'm sure it looks amazing, but hermits don't need to justify that with 6884x5667 resolution ultra realistic super texture mod with camera shaker and Korean face wrinkle physics screens in every thread that mentions Crysis. All that stuff eventually sort of puts people off from the game.

I agree with TC: Machinarium is one amazing looking game.
