It didn't click with me at all. There was some cool things about it but in the end I was unimpressed and the absolutely terrible voice acting and lame characters did the game no favors.

for a short sp only game its not underrated. theirs a place in the game industry for both semi realistic cover based shooter and over the top shooter like vanquish. And is sadly highly underrated. From a pure gameplay standpoint it smokes Gears of War's clunky, completely cover based shooting.
A Vanquish 2 has got to be made with the same love as GRAW. Imagine playing a Multiplayer of Vanquish gameplay...be the best **** ever.

i still say uncharted 2 is the best sp tps
Vanquish did take a whole level out of gears.. that underground level with the exploding ticker like creatures reminded me of gears underground level with its exploding tickers :|GD1551And? It was better. I bet Gears took a lot from Kill.Switch too... but you don't hear people talking about it anymore.

Killswitch lead designer helped make gears so of course it took quite a bit from it. Vanquish however copied an entire level from epic. That shows a lack of creativity.
Vanquish 2 isn't going to happen (Platinum doesn't do sequels). And even though I agree, I find it funny that I've played through Mass Effect 2 twice, and Vanquish only once... and am already planning a third run.foxhound_foxWhat even makes you think they don't do sequels? And don't you remember Vanquish ending?
Agreed. Vanquish's bad characters make Gears of War's Marcus & company seem like a debonair playboys in comparison. The recycled boss fights really hurt the game as well and the sliding/grinding gimmick is heavily over-rated too.It didn't click with me at all. There was some cool things about it but in the end I was unimpressed and the absolutely terrible voice acting and lame characters did the game no favors.

You're damn right Vanquish is the best TPS this gen, and best overall shooter this gen, and the second greatest shooter of all time, and one of the greatest video games of all time, and... s***, ran out of stuff to say.
Eh... it was fun. Incredible core gameplay, but the rest of the game (level design, enemy variety, pacing, game lenght, boss fights, set-pieces, presentation) doesn't live up to it, which finally gave me the impression of a game that didn't live up to its full potential.
Gears of War and Uncharted 2 are a much more complete package. Vanquish is definitely a great game, just it's not the best TPS this gen.

Um, the final boss fight is one of the most epic and challenging fights ever concieved in a video game. Seriously, fight the last boss on God Hard... it will change your life. 'Twas the most epic showdown of my life -a battle of pure action packed, stylish, high velocity, explosive, ungodly, hellish, insane, intellectual, over-the-top greatness.
And the set pieces were unbelievably epic. They make that overly scripted crap in CoD look like a casual walk through the playground. It helps that the core gameplay and controls are absolutely flawless.
How does it stack up compared to the original release though? That's what I want to know.[QUOTE="Vaasman"]

its not that bad and they cut all the rpg out of the game. its mroe of an open world tps now with side event and objective based gameplay. but the f2p players suffer pretty badly at the hands of paid for content as they need to keep playing in order to even stack up next to a user of the micro-store.
vehicle controls are a bit floaty but pretty driveable once you get adjusted and omitting a few abuses its pretty darn good and for a f2p game its THE msot demanding one there is and the best imho visually.
its also has a problem with tick but thats being fixed. recent fixes have really fixed matchmaking and its almsot impossible now for a high ranked most wanted veteran to get grouped with newbies and future changes will solidify this.
it also has some amazing set pieces and amazing character customization. simply put you can jsut about everything to trick out your character and then some.

as an rpg well it snot an rpg anymore so thats gone to comapre with. but as a team based online tps its got alot of unique features and can be quite fun if your willing to give it a chance and deal wtih the beta stage bugs its currently living in. its beta is actually been revised to ver 2.1 recently marking the debut of a brand new player sorting system which basically makes it impossible for high rnaking uber toons to game with lowbie's anymore. the downside si that the higher ranked players have a lot less competition and players and it also means matches ridiculosuly easy to find and be balanced in on higher ones. i join games now never having to fear mr gold rank 13 with his neon green bulletbroof hummer and rpg. and instead need only fret about the silly fools with the horrible auto sniper and the ever so inaccurate smg.
Sorry but the core gameplay is a solid part of what made the game atrocious, and what you said does nothing to make me think they've fixed the gunplay, driving, or matchmaking, other than maybe not being matched up with op characters.I thought Vanquish was very overrated. I thought the game played well and look really nice. However, the story was really boring and the game was pretty repetitive once I reached Chapter 4. Also most of the weapons are useless, I stuck with the shotgun, Assault rifle, and heavy machine gun combo because its the only combo thats actually does any good damage.
It's like a crappy version of virtual on the game sucks. And is sadly highly underrated. From a pure gameplay standpoint it smokes Gears of War's clunky, completely cover based shooting.

The scripted sequences in MW2 had far more impact on me then Vanquish. It also helps that MW2 is just a more fun to play game.

Virtual on? No way, aside from the Sega cheesiness, they aren't remotely similar. Vanquish plays like a fast paced Gears with style.
From a developer who creates games that has that anime feel to them.... vanquish was the best TPS no doubt. I beat it with english dialogue then 2nd time I played it in japanese with english subtitle. THe japanese voice sounds so much better. And is sadly highly underrated. From a pure gameplay standpoint it smokes Gears of War's clunky, completely cover based shooting.

challenging fights ever concieved in a video game. Seriously, fight the last boss on God Hard... it will change your life.if you thought that was challenging, you should try unlocking and fighting Zatsuza from ddpdfkbl. Unlocking took me probably well over 150 hours, not to mention only seeing him twice and never being able to beat him. my attempts and that video are on stock (normal) difficulty - 2 levels below the hardest difficulty.Master_ShakeXXX
I won't even say that those bosses are the hardest of all time because such a statement is absurd. I don't know if they are, but I do know they are the hardest fights I've encountered (and I have played vanquish multiple times over on varying difficulties).
No game is that good so just stop it please.Um, the final boss fight is one of the most epic and challenging fights ever concieved in a video game. Vanquish is easily one of the most OVERRATED games in these forums. A SP game that lasts 5 hours. Sure it's fun but literally everyone that plays it just seems to shrug off all it's flaws simply because it's not a huge commercial success. Both Gears and UC are far better games. HoolaHoopMan
Vanquish is probably closer to 8. and it's meant to be replayed.
[QUOTE="doll94"]was I the only person who thought it was garbage.. I was so looking forward to it aswell. massive dissapointment.GD1551
No you weren't, people overrated the game because of the developer.
yeah, that was the main reason I was so hyped about it. Bayonetta is one of my favourite games this gen and I thought they would produce another amazing game. How wrong could I have been.In terms of gameplay I guess it's right up there with GeoW and UC but there just wasn't enough content. Having said that, I had a blast with it and finishing challenge 6 made me feel god-like (and gave my my first platinum) so good times with Vanquish :P
