That was only a minor, but true, reason. Atari 2600 was a failure. Case closed again.

stika

So, I'm assuming you are 7-8 years old or so,
but, once you grow up, you'll realize that just because you want something to be true,
does not make it so. I could make up some stupid impossible argument too,
like...iono...Canada is identical to Mars, in every way, including climate, city structure,
population, and human created landmarks! I'm not giving up until I win!
But, without any evidence to back it up (like you have currently, no evidence),
I will be proven both insane, and wrong

well im sure underneath all that chocolate and caramel layer mars is just like canada

I wish,
we're actually like Coffee Crisp,
inoffensive, but lacking excitement.

Maybe you need to grow up and realize that you can not win every arguement. The case has been closed and opened several time due to you (and everyone else) not accepting the truth. I don't want to open it again, so now everyone should realize that I'm right and not open it again. Case definitively closed.

Lol,
dude, you are like 7-8,
you realize in a debate especially, neither of the arguing partys cannot be a mediator nor can they be a judge right? As a previous poster said, holding your hands to your ears, and not reading your own evidencial link provided, does not equal a victory, it equals a failure on several levels.
As you get older, you'll understand this.
Also, the fact that you off all people in this debate are the one stating "you can not win every argument", is kind of ironic...and sad in many ways

Yup, I don't see how someone could have such hate for a 31 year old machine that spawned popular console gaming as a whole, maybe he is actually an anti-gaming guy or something? Maybe he is Hilary Clinton or Tipper Gore or something:shock:

If you had the ability to prove anyone wrong,
you'd have demonstrated so while several people were trashing your argument with facts,
what's your real deal here? You realize you can like multiple platforms yes?
If you are an angry pc gamer, it's okay to like consoles too, I won't tell your friends :D

It was just blamed for everything.

This thread has degenerated into so much fail that no matter which funny picture I link to it isn't going to do it justice.

In fact the only instance in my life I can think of with as much fail was this;

My mate got a can of lighter fluid when we were about 13. Having put some on his hand and set fire to it with little ill effect he decided to put some on his nose and try again. Unsuprisingly, it badly burned the end of his nose and took half of his eyebrows with it. He then had to attend school and explain what had happened.

You fail as much as he did. Case Closed!

Some people can't "except"...except what?
You'd be right "except" you have no facts, post nothing but "case closed", and project your bitter nature onto others? The facts you presented make no sense:
Atari 2600 failed - Over 6 Billion in profits
Atari 2600 caused the crash - Your own wiki entry shows home computers reducing in price, and many many cheap immitation consoles flooding the market, on top of horrible third party games killed the console market.
Then you go back to Atari 2600 - First ever popular video game console, paved the way for companys like nintendo to make home machines, not just arcade games, also essentially created popularized console gaming

There you go, not, close your eyes and type "case closed" again. Make yourself look even more foolish.

So, I'm assuming you are 7-8 years old or so,
but, once you grow up, you'll realize that just because you want something to be true,
does not make it so. I could make up some stupid impossible argument too,
like...iono...Canada is identical to Mars, in every way, including climate, city structure,

But, without any evidence to back it up (like you have currently, no evidence),
I will be proven both insane, and wrong

Maybe you need to grow up and realize that you can not win every arguement. The case has been closed and opened several time due to you (and everyone else) not accepting the truth. I don't want to open it again, so now everyone should realize that I'm right and not open it again. Case definitively closed.

It isn't but is often a good starting place for researching a topic as it can surely point you in the right direction. Never use the information directly as if it is gospel however :P.

As an owner of both I'm not really so sure, but I'd say the Virtua Boy.

Personally none of these consoles are that bad.

Virtua Boy's concept was stupid and gave you headaches but the games in general were decent.

TeleroBoxer was a fun gem.

The Mario Tennis series started on it which was pretty fun.

And though I haven't played it I've heard that WarioLand is great.

See the Virtua Boy is kinda hard to describe. Usually for the worse systems it's the game library that makes them horrible, but the Virtua Boy is the complete opposite. The software wasn't bad but the hardware was.

I mean the Angry Video Game Nerd even says that the software line-up isn't bad (just small).

How the hell did Atari 2600 get in this? I can understand 3DO, Jaguar, Lynx, hell, even the Master System if you want to be an a-hole, but the 2600? No, not at all.

Actually, the concept was pretty good. It was ahead of its time. And that was the problem: it was ahead of its time. The technology during that time wasn't enough to execute it, and the execution totally sucked.

I've seen the concept done (to a limited extent) at DisneyQuest, so of course it could be done.

Because TC is a misinformed child that believes everything he reads in Wiki and harbors belief that the 2600 prominantly caused the Videogame Crash. He seems to have trouble coming to grips with the reality that some of us actually lived through the era and know the 2600 can't be blamed for the oversaturation of the market and poor business choices Warner Brothers made after aquiring Atari...

ET was merely the final straw. That game was anticipated, and Atari rushed it to the market and created a confusing fetch quest. The idea could've worked on a console with more buttons, but the Atari 2600 only had 1 button, so your powers changed at random.
