Okay so I really didn't care that much about the VC personally. I mean sure, having access to a bunch of old games was AWSM, but all of the basics, *mario, zelda, so on* I already have. Seeing as I keep old systems lying around spending money to have them on my Wii is mostly wasteful.

But now we are getting imports.

Bam.

I'd have payed 50 for this game. My fingers hurt. This is hardcore.

Now, if XBLA had geometry wars exclusively, then I'd give it a chance, but now thats for the Wii too (Nov 20th, I'm giddy), so yeah. The Wii has better downloadable games then the 360 now. :\

Best $12 ever.

:( but I like Tp, mp3, Naruto, Wii sports, Wii play (With friends at parties, otherwise its like ball in a cup), excite truck, and elebits.

Paper Mario was boring to me though. I missed the RPG play.

BUT I CAN PLAY THE VC, GAMECUBE, AND WII GAMES ON MY WII SO ITS ALLLLLLL GOOD.

VC is overpriced and overrated. XLBA is better. Marble Blast, Geometry Wars (with dual analogs and HD effects), ground-up old schoolBomberman, actual UPDATED classic games, Alien Hominid (with HD), and the upcoming Castle Crashers.

Why can't I play MK64 online? XBLA has classic games for online. Why aren't there leaderboards for retro games? No director's cut version of games? XBLA has them.

Oh and it was probably $15 or morefor Sin and Punishment because you have to buy Wii Points in bulk and can't pick and schoose how many Wii Points you want to recieve. Excuse my French but that is biting my balls.

It's actually from a poster that was in a gaming magazine. I found in on /v/ and posted it here. He liked it. : D

The best thing about gamespot isn't having unfounded hate of inaminate electronics, its showing everyone online that I do!

Overpriced? Really? I have a store around here called "the exchange" that sells cds, dvds, and video games. They carry old NES games for $10+, SNES and 64 is more. VC is a steal.

Well then your getting ripped. If you pay more than $4 for a non-rare (and I'm talking Ogre Battle rare) SNES or NES game, your being overcharged. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I know I'm feeding a troll but...

Marble Blast, lolwut.

Geometry wars, you have me on HD, but you can play dual analogs on the wii version too. Then again GW is not about TEH BLOOM ZOMG.

Bomberman is for the VC too. In its untouched, original version.

Alien Hominid http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/59593

Eh. I don't know about online play. It never occurred to me that they should add it. Thats just you opinion I guess. Leaderboards are available for Geometry wars wii. Directors Cut, lolwut.

I actually only payed 10, because I happened to have 200 left over. But yeah, why do I have to pay in increments of 1000?

Make an exception for Rez HD when it comes out. Not that it applies in my case since I already own the PS2 version, but it's still an incredible game. For the most part though, I agree. Slowly building a collection of N64 games I never played :)

Yeah I'm actually leaning with D3mo here.

I picked up WWF No mercy (Best wrestling game ever, also just spectacular fighting game too) for 5 bucks.

Again though, it was used. Which, if you know anything about the way merchandise works, makes it less valuable. 10 bucks isn't that bad. 8 for snes games is too much though.

VC is great IMO. I've got 6 games on it, LOZ orcarina of time, f-zero x, starfox 64, paper mario, donkey kong 2 and super metroid. There all great games. Then again I can't really compare them as I don't have a 360

If its 10+ years old and not-rare, yes. Well maybe up to $6...$6.50 MAX, and that's if u really want the game.

The only way I can justify paying $5-7 for shipping is if its a bundle or lot of games. Paying $5 for a game, and $5 for shipping is a rip-off. Don't buy SNES/NES/N64/PS1 games over the internet unless its a rare game, or a bundle. Go to local garage sales, you can find some real gems, and pay little next to nothing.

Sorry, XBLA is much better than VC.... XBLA you get original titles & classic remakes... with VC you just get the same old game as b4, with no leaderboards or anything.....

so while the VC has alot of great great classic games..... XBLA still has alot more to offer. I can play UNO, Texas Hold'em Poker, Super Puzzle FIghter, Geometry Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog I & II, E4, ZUMA, Double Dragon, Prince of Persia, Castlevania, Assault Heroes etc. and the list goes on and on.

the only 2 VC games i have are SM64 (a must have) & Donkey Kong Country.

I'd take XBLA over VC. I already lived through all those old generations of games, and I have all the old games I want to play in one form or another. Bring on some new games, and some arcade classics that I can't get on old consoles.

OMG can we have 1 topic where we don't have a Hermit running around claiming PC owns all, with no proof or even examples as to why he/she is correct. This topic is not about the PC, it's about XBLA vs VC, go make ur own thread and post ur garbage there.

I disagree, VC games are overpriced are just emulated classics offer no new functions, there are less of them then XBLA, and I've yet to run out of space on my xbox, but my wii? i've run out of space and channels even with a 2 gig SD card.

VC is cool and all, but I can get all those games for free. I mean...Nevermind...

Anyway, VC is a downloadable game service. XBLA on the other hand, is only for simple arcade titles, despite the fewclas sictitles. So yeah, VC is better if you disregard those differences.

Uh, sorry. XBLA provides classic games like Pacman with leaderboards, touched up graphics, and in some cases, even online integration. These can cost $4. VC offers old Nintendo games in their pure form for $5 for OLD games, $8 for semi-old, and $10 for N64 games. Virtual Console is great and all, but really Nintendo is ripping you off for games you can emulate on your computer (if you already own the game, of course).

Let's not also forget that with XBLA you can, you know, download a demo of the game first. This is something that's very annoying with the VC. Sometimes games aren't as good as you remember, and sometimes they're even better. I can't tell you how many games I've passed on downloading due to me not trusting my past opinion of them. Old classic games with updates for $4 and brand new outting with full 3D graphics and online for $8, or oldgames for $5,$8, and $10?

I will state that virtual console does function as a console, in which it includes full games. XBOX Live Arcade games are what the name implies: Arcade Games.

Unless you're stupid enough to pay for games which you can easily emulate on your PC...no.

XBLA > V.C.

Fact.

You'd have to be an absolute moron if you've tricked yourself into thinking that XBLA is better than the VC. Online play or not, it's not even close.

Geometry Wars since launch looking real sweet...

Marble Blast Ultra.

Uno with webcams

Pacman champ edition

Pinball FX

Puzzle Quest

Assault Heroes

Worms

All with online play and with tonnes of other stuff... And with stuff like Ikaruga and Rez on the horizon.

You really think a bunch of easily emulated old games with one or two actual decent classics beats XBLA?

The Virtual Console is better in some respects, and the Xbox Live Arcade is superior in other respects.I wouldn't say any service is better than the other overall.

An absolute moron? You mean like paying for a new controller, and then re-buying games you probably already bought years ago, when you could easily play them for free on your PC via emulators? No mate, I think you've things mixed up here. XBLA > VC. No question about it.

WWF No Mercy, was, is, and will remain the best wrestling game ever.

I remember spending 100's of hours on that game....it was PERFECT.

mushroomscout89

I mean like, I just found it, and I'm playing it today just for the gameplay.

THATS HOW YOU MAKE A GOOD GAME PEOPLE. YUKES? YOU SEE THAT YUKES? YEAH, AIM FOR THAT. THANKS.

OMG I could NOT agree more, I love that game too and have spent comparible hours playing it to my brother playing Football Manager. It still has bugs, like the PAL version, if you play the Royal Rumble in Exebition for the main title, it resets the title holder to the default champion.

I have created so many characters, mainly cos the defualt versions have crap moves.

My fav match has got to be Royal Rumble 40 man, no count out, no ring out, only pins, TKO andsubmissions. So basically fight anywhere buteliminate only in the ring. Matchs have lasted sooo long.

Easily the best wrestling game ever made though. What I wouldn't do for online play in that.

It's been said already, but it bears repeating. XBLA games:

  • enhanced graphics and sound
  • added gameplay elements
  • added online at least with leaderboards, but in games where it makes sense: multiplayer
  • programmed to include achievements and integration with Xbox Live functionality
  • ALL of them have a playable demo to try before you buy

I think Nintendo really copped out by doing just emulation.
