I personally don't have a preference on the VC or XBLA, they both aren't perfect, but i'm sure many will disagree but I think the horrible D-Pad on the X360 holds XBLA back from being a competent retro feature.
I can't even look forward to the new Super Street Fighter 2 game because I know this will be a severe problem, if I was MS I would swallow my pride and release a XBLA specific controller which has been redesigned to meet the needs of XBLA better.
I also personally don't like the height of the digital shoulder buttons when used for retro, for SF2 its a little too high. As it is shoulder buttons aren't as good as face buttons for SF2, I realised this when I got the 15th Anniversary controller for the original Xbox.
This isn't a personal fanboy attack on the X360, I own one and love it, its still my primary console, but it like others has its issues, some of which are not exactly insignificant.
Thats a rather rambunctious statement.Heil68
Thank you.. Like most Japanese games it is all reused material. Granted some games I like such as Silent Hill which is certainly the best to come out of Japan and Super Mario 3 which finally had the formula right.
XBLA is bringing new games and remakes rather then just being a Virtual outdated console game which isn't really fun anymore. I just don't find Fighting Force 64 as fun as I did when i was 12. XBLA tries to put new games out there and hell lets me try the game before I go throw my money at them which I respect Microsoft for doing considering the cash cow they are.
Symphony of the Night > any game on VC.Spartan070
Must agree. Cousin has it on his 360, been playing it ever since. Hell, I've invested 100's of hours in Ultimate Mortal Kombat, the best fighting franchise of all time.(Back then)
PS. There are XBLA games that blow most Wii games out of the water Visually. Small Arms for an example.
As soon as Wii Ware comes out and the Wii gets stuff like:
FFCC, Doctor Mario, brand new Bomberman, a new Star Soldier R, and several more, the VC will be unstoppable.
VC is overpriced and overrated. XLBA is better. Marble Blast, Geometry Wars (with dual analogs and HD effects), ground-up old schoolBomberman, actual UPDATED classic games, Alien Hominid (with HD), and the upcoming Castle Crashers.
Why can't I play MK64 online? XBLA has classic games for online. Why aren't there leaderboards for retro games? No director's cut version of games? XBLA has them.
Oh and it was probably $15 or morefor Sin and Punishment because you have to buy Wii Points in bulk and can't pick and schoose how many Wii Points you want to recieve. Excuse my French but that is biting my balls.
Optusnet
I agree that XBLA has a lot of great games, and at great prices considering the added online play. The one that stands out to me is TMNT Arcade game with online play for $5. When and if that game comes out for VC as the SNES game it is, it will cost $8 with no online play. VC is overpriced.
But wow, are you really going to criticize the point structure of the VC???
The LIVE marketplace point structure is AWFUL! 80pts = $1.00? You know that points system was designed solely to confuse people. Plus they make you buy in bulk as well. At least the VC point system is a very simple 100pts = $1.00
Plus, they sell in simple bulks, 1000 for $10, 2000 for $20 and so on.
Uh, sorry. XBLA provides classic games like Pacman with leaderboards, touched up graphics, and in some cases, even online integration. These can cost $4. VC offers old Nintendo games in their pure form for $5 for OLD games, $8 for semi-old, and $10 for N64 games. Virtual Console is great and all, but really Nintendo is ripping you off for games you can emulate on your computer (if you already own the game, of course).
Let's not also forget that with XBLA you can, you know, download a demo of the game first. This is something that's very annoying with the VC. Sometimes games aren't as good as you remember, and sometimes they're even better. I can't tell you how many games I've passed on downloading due to me not trusting my past opinion of them. Old classic games with updates for $4 and brand new outting with full 3D graphics and online for $8, or oldgames for $5,$8, and $10?
I will state that virtual console does function as a console, in which it includes full games. XBOX Live Arcade games are what the name implies: Arcade Games.
Apathetic-Irony
wow not at all, you dont know what ur talking about, xbla charges $5 too for games that have been remade not $4, btw i like some of the vc games better but if it had online and stuff vc would totally own xbla

You're missing the point. XBLA classic games are enhanced, so worth the $5. The Nintendo classics are only emulation with little to no enhancement.
If you're someone that never played a Snes or N64 or if Rare was still with Nintendo I'd agree with you. But really, who hasn't played all the best games on Vc before?
The good thing about XBLA is that it has a bunch of original games and nearly all of the games that aren't original always have improvements made to them. I have about 39 XBLA games atm :)
Hmmm....
Oh I know!
romware + cheap gamepad > Every damn service any console can provide... technically.
Well considering nothing good has been on VC since like August (Super Metroid) i'm going to have to go with XBLA. Shadow2k6
The VC has more AAA AA and A rated games then the XBLA...
Even with it's online play and upgrades...
I find it funny that lemmings bash Wii for being "casual" and then flaunt XBLA games like Bomberman, Pac-Man, and sometimes Uno.--ProtoMan--Whenever I'm playing Halo 3 on live I hardly ever smile. Halo 3 is not a FUN game it's a Competitive game. I spend more time being frusturated or yelling than I do anything else. I've also realized that I have a tenancy to curse more when I'm playing my 360 than I do any other system.

Man I hate casuals.
^^^^^^^^^^ INTERNET IRONY.
Besides the VC being a bit over priced and also the VC having the NEo Geo I'd say they are completely equal.meetroid8
;-; I want geometry wars.
TO PEOPLE: Yes, I'm aware that XBLA has awesome stuff. Some stuff that I'd want. I made this thread last night after having made sweet love to Sin and Punishment, which is just like... ughajd... sex.

other than that I agree. VC >>>>> Wii's real line-up.
SuperMaWiiOH
Over priced? Really? I have a store around here called "the exchage" that sells cds, dvds, and video games. They carry old NES games for $10+, SNES and 64 is more. VC is a steal.
Well then your getting ripped. If you pay more than $4 for a non-rare (and I'm talking Ogre Battle rare) SNES or NES game, your being overcharged. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you say so, I really disagree. I think VC is priced just fine.
Same. NES and SNES games may be very outdated in hardware, but they can still provide hours of enjoyment, so I think that their prices are fine. And the last time I saw Paper Mario being sold as a regular N64 cartridge, it was priced at over $20. Now it's $10 in VC.

I srsly hope your not comparing past AAA/AA scores to current games if so..even still we've played them years ago.

:( but I like Tp, mp3, Naruto, Wii sports, Wii play (With friends at parties, otherwise its like ball in a cup), excite truck, and elebits.
Paper Mario was boring to me though. I missed the RPG play.
BUT I CAN PLAY THE VC, GAMECUBE, AND WII GAMES ON MY WII SO ITS ALLLLLLL GOOD.
Get a 360 and you'll forget you ever said that.

VC sounds like a steal when you're comparing two places that both try to rip you off. Maybe then it's a steal.

And I'd like to buy a 360, if it wasn't so freaking expensive.

^ I'd suggest getting the Sonic Mega Collection. It has Sonic 1-3, Sonic Spinball and Dr. Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine (and more games) all on one disc that you could probably get for $10.yodariquoActually, that's a pretty good idea. It's still a lot more convenient to just have the games on the Wii's interface for quick access but I probably will pick up Sonic Mega Collection.

Team Rockets is simple fun, IMO.
