You mean Wii and Move can do full 3D body mapping ? Link ?

And hands free also, with support for multiple players out of the box too ?

well project natal/kinect creeps me out, i just sits there watching you flail your arms about, plotting. And kinect doesnt fit that at all it makes it sound like some 3 year olds toy. Project natal sounds like a new pregnancy test but it would fit something creepy a bit more.

Next gen refers to the next generation of consoles, if kinect is MS' next gen console then I have serious concerns.

there's nothing new about hands free controls the ps2eye did it before kinect. So if anything Kinect has last gen controls.

Supporting multiple players doesn't make it next gen. Hands free is accompanied by set backs and limitations, it's more like a step to the side than a step to the next.

Multiple gamers? You mean 2 players max? Stop spreading misinformation about the Kinect there's nothing next gen or this gen about it. If anything it's upgraded last gen technology which will add nothing to gaming in general unless you like waving your feet and arms into thin air. Yeah real exciting and revolutionary.

The fact that you can't play many traditional generes with it makes it a step backwards though.

Funny thing is that it simply SCREAMS rts and rpg but I suspect that's not what we'll get.

It fully tracks 6 players, that is confirmed

Good luck with the rumored 2 players

You seems to spread the misinformation actually, based on some random articles on the net and zero actual proof, the same article you took your "info", says it tracks 6 players fully, so if a developers likes can have 6 players at once with the right software implementation

If you dont like waving, then dont bother with Wii, Move or Kinect, it is simple, that does not mean that everyone else is not interested

You can use a pad with it, so every single game can be played with added Kinect support and a pad

I do own a WII and PS3 and yes i plan to get MOVE for the PS3 and good luck jumping around and waving your arms when six of you are standing net to each other. Just that idea proves the Kinect CANNOT support up to 6 players. I'd rather believe random articles then MS's propaganda.

Like with Move, 6 players will be fine, hiting each others heads with a stick if are close by, that may break as well

Good luck with that

The random articvles say that tracks 6 people fine, so ...

Well you could, but then you're back to playing with a controller in front of the psEYE. That sort of seems a step backwards from Wiimote and Move does'nt it?

No, because you still get all features of Kinect, like full body tracking in 3D, something impossible for PS3 and Wii

Ok, but you're expecting too much of the devs. You're not going to get some incredible control scheme that combines a classic controller with extreme minority report implementation.

It's going to be:

A: Flailing

B: Controller in front of psEYE style. How is full body tracking in 3D going to benefit you when you're in the couch with your gamepad? They're going to add simple waves and voice commands. Or are you going to be playing, standing in the middle of the room, riverdancing?

You start to wonder if this man is MS employee lurking this forums cause any sane person can see The Kinect is nothing special and adds nothing to a game experience instead it takes things away leaving you with simple party games and Scittles!

Lets suppose Kinect is as amazing as is being claimed. Big deal. All the games for Kinect will be mini-games, fitness games, and other casual crap. No core games will be made specifically for Kinect. Kinect will be an after-thought on core games; if at all.... a silly, tacked-on gimmick.

Nice wishfull thinking, Kinect adds full 3D body immersion in gaming, and voice recognition and multiple (6) gamers without holding a single thing in hand

Now, if you dont like it, is an antirely other matter

It doesn't map 6 people's motion. It can only track 2 "active players." 20 joints per active player.

Anything else is equivalent to furniture background noise.

With all do respect, who cares? Moving around to relax and play a videogame? Those just don't sit that well with the majority of gamers, I would think. If I'm doing physical activitiy, I'm really going to go do it. I won't deny the technology is pretty cool, but other than the fitness game, it just doesn't mix with games, imo.

The Move, which offers the ability to control games in 3D, and in tandem with 3Dtv, offers the more realistic bridge from the wii to the next generation of consoles. Sure sonys setup is a ripoff, but it is still an intelligent one. 3D is being backed by not only Sony, but nintendo as well. Games made for wii, can now be upgraded for move--and vice versa. This leaves Kinect in a dead zone. Why would developers develop for kinect, when they can make a game for the highest selling console, and release it for one that seems to be up and coming?

Like I said Kinect is just an add-on gimmick for Fable 3 and Child of Eden those games were not designed for kinect and can be played perfectly fine without. They certainly don't warrant the $150 price. And I bet this will be the same for all core games.

Milo was a tech demo and not even a real game. The Star Wars game looked like crap from the demo. Slow and fake looking.

I agree that the tech is better than both Wii and Move, but it still is a $150 peripheral that I don't see appealing to core gamers at all.

This kinect is really just a plug for more casual gamers, and that's a good thing. I do think it'll be mostly mini games, party games(basically eyetoy-esque games) that will support kinect. However, $150 is pretty steep for an add-on. That price will have to drop before consumers, and devs, seriously support it.

haha. So you would rather navigate menus and such through clumsy voice control and hand-waving over a simple and precise controller... whatever floats your boat.

Fable 3, Milo, Child of Eden, Sega game, Star Wars etc seem fine to me

it is a definatgly far more advanced , feture full and amazing gimick than Move or Wii mote imo

a_simple_gamer

Like I said Kinect is just an add-on gimmick for Fable 3 and Child of Eden those games were not designed for kinect and can be played perfectly fine without. They certainly don't warrant the $150 price. And I bet this will be the same for all core games.

Milo was a tech demo and not even a real game. The Star Wars game looked like crap from the demo. Slow and fake looking.

I agree that the tech is better than both Wii and Move, but it still is a $150 peripheral that I don't see appealing to core gamers at all.

Strange, because Fable 3, Child of Eden, Star Wars, SEGA game etc appeal to me and i am a hardcore gamer

Those games appeal to you more than Heavy Rain, Killzone 3, MLB 11: The Show, Socom 4 and LittleBigPlanet 2 etc, games that actually likely to score AAA? Seems like you're a hardcore lemming, not gamer.

Kinect is clearly the most advanced out of the 3 motion controls. I give credit to MS for choose the hardest way and not just copy/past an already successfull technology!

Now, MS just needs so make it cheaper than i think it will be and develop some good core games for it to deliver.

If you dont like waving, then dont bother with Wii, Move or Kinect, it is simple, that does not mean that everyone else is not interested

a_simple_gamer

I don't like waving, but I love using my GC controller on my Wii. this right here ^^^ is bad logic.

Nice wishfull thinking, Kinect adds full 3D body immersion in gaming, and voice recognition and multiple (6) gamers without holding a single thing in hand

Now, if you dont like it, is an antirely other matter

a_simple_gamer

since you know so much about the kinect, what games are being developed for it? I can give you a list of games that are already available for the Wii and games that are being developed with the move for the ps3. Will the kinect give the true 3D gaming experience? as in, is your 360 capable of displaying real 3d with the right tv? With the PS3 you will be able to play games with the move AND in 3D to create a true 3D gaming experience.

btw, no fanboy, but I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing. I dislike all motion controls, move, kinect, and wii-mote included.

Fable 3 appeals to me more than all PS3 games combined actually, even without Kinect,so yes

I want to rule its huge open kingdoms, not play simplistic games that you shoot stuff or jump around or play quick time events

I am a hardcore RPG gamer, if that is what you mean, those games you posted dont interest me much at all

demon's souls and valkyria chronicles seems right down your alley. and have you played ICO or shadow of the colossus? because the last guardian which is probably coming out on the ps3 next year should be a very similar experience. not interested in final fantasy xiii versus?

Some-Mist

Demon Soul is my best PS3 game by far, you got that right and definatly up there with Fable 2-3, Mass Effedt 1-2-3 etc

As for valkyria, i hated it, i dont like the missions based gameplay at all, i could not even finish the demo to be frank

I am also interested in Last Guardian, will buy it day one, unless something terribly wrong happens

And FF13vs is a wait and see, after FF12 and FF13 i am sceptical, ihated both those, so dont have many hopes for FF13vs

I also will buy the new Gimbli JRPG

But the fact still remains, in 2010, PS3 has almost nothing for me, i liked GOW3, but was a rent for me and a very shallow, short and repeatitve game

If you really were a hardcore RPG gamer you would not enjoy Fable games at all. You would be playing The Witcher, Dragon Age: Origins, etc...

I like mostly RPGs that are adventures too, that is why i like Zelda too in the first place

And why do you think i did not play and like Dragon Age and Witcher ? I have both and finished both

They are just very standard games though, comparing to Fable 3 especially, that you can rule kingdoms than just play a story line

So, basically, what I gather from this thread is that a_simple_gamer is kind of like the lemming version of Aku101...
