What huge kingdoms?[QUOTE="a_simple_gamer"]Fable 3 appeals to me more than all PS3 games combined actually, even without Kinect,so yes
I want to rule its huge open kingdoms, not play simplistic games that you shoot stuff or jump around or play quick time events
I am a hardcore RPG gamer, if that is what you mean, those games you posted dont interest me much at allGiancar
don't tell me about volumetric blah blah and lighting... welcome back, saolin!
That's what I was guessing here. Let the leaf counting begin!kinect is the complete opposite of something a hardcore gamer would want. All the games shown are made to be played in short bursts.
Color me dissapointed in the current line up for Kinect, however I do see potential in it.
What holds it back is exactly the technology, but more because of the limits of a camera based device in gaming. Both Sony and Nintendo have looked into this techonology (The guys who made Natal actually went to Nintendo first before MS), and dismissed it as being limited in gameplay mechanics.
I think the integration of Kinect in some traditional games such as headtracking for Forza could be awesome.

Actually it is the only thing a hardcore gamer would want, the most next gen way to immerse the gamer in the game in full 3D body mapping
Waving a stick is so last gen after Kinect, sorry
[QUOTE="a_simple_gamer"]
You mean Wii and Move can do full 3D body mapping ?
Zanoh
No but the Dreamcast Vision, PS2 Eyetoy, and PS3 Eye can :)
They cant actually, not even close
All Move can do is track in full 3D the body part that has move stick, nothing else
Also can track in 2D the body parts, but that is 100% different than tracking them in 3D
So, no, they cant do full 3D body tracking, only Kinect can with the 2onddepth camera
I have a question about kinect how do you move. Do you walk in place. How do you turn around do you actually turn around away from the TV. In a racing game how do you brake do you yell Xbox Brake Because if you do that I think It will just RROD.
Now combing wii/move controls with kinect that in my opinion is next gen controls.

hes right besides, if PS3 Eye can track 3D mapping, wouldnt that make the move controller fake.
[QUOTE="a_simple_gamer"][QUOTE="hd5870corei7"] Those games appeal to you more than Heavy Rain, Killzone 3, MLB 11: The Show, Socom 4 and LittleBigPlanet 2 etc, games that actually likely to score AAA? Seems like you're a hardcore lemming, not gamer.hd5870corei7

If you really were a hardcore RPG gamer you would not enjoy Fable games at all. You would be playing The Witcher, Dragon Age: Origins, etc...wouldnt a hardcore RPG enjoy any RPG?

LOL. He's not right. The Eye can do 3D mapping. The controller is just the focal point on which the camera focuses on, like the senor bars depicting movements from the Wii controller.
The Dreamcast Vision and PS2 Eyetoy can do so as well. The only thing is though is that you had to hardcode your software to do it instead of the peripheral.
It hasn't convinced me on how it will improve the core games. Especially with the price tag, it should do something.
Firstly, lets stop this stuff about Kinect being anything like what was previously done, eyetoy, etc. If it was Sony would be all over MS and sue them.
Secondly lets stop trying to make Kinect work with "core" game-play type games, that is what your controller is for.
Kinect is going to revolutionize the way we play new typesgames. Its not some gimmick like Move or the Wii where you eventually sit down and play those core games.
No, Kinect is going to get you moving and play games with way more precision than anything the Move or Wii will do.
I can't believe that all of you wouldn't just be itching to get your hands on this awesome technology. If you just take the fanboy out of the equation you have no choice but to be excited.

-Ninja_Dog-
more precision, really? did you see the demo for tiger woods with the move? that was precision that you couldnt get with just a camera.
exactly. Kinect seems impressive but we've only seen it in tightly controlled settings. The wii is miles more impressive atm because it is existing in reality and living with scrutiny from independent sources, many of who don't like nintendo. There have been some disturbing glimpses of Kinect that lead me to believe that it is not 1:1. Same goes for PSMove, which is advertised as superior to any wii control but its PR has been tightly controlledHow can there be a verdict on something that is even out yet?

Well, the games speak for themselves, and it really isn't too far fetched to have your dog beat you at Street Fighter Kinect.

The system has zero lag
Of course depends on how developers use it and optimize too, like with all software

The one i posted does not, where do you see it ? It has zero lag there
Can you pinpoint the exact time ?
Wait then what should people be excited for? To play party games, or just fun games, the games that people despised for years on the wii? I enjoyed them, personally. And i would probably enjoy kinect ones as well. But SW can't just turn around like that because it is now happening to another company.Firstly, lets stop this stuff about Kinect being anything like what was previously done, eyetoy, etc. If it was Sony would be all over MS and sue them.

There is no exact time. It all shows lag. The second post on the maxconsole link even states that the lag is around 500ms. The one above, ONE JOURNALIST, says there is no lag. So we have countless videos and eyewitnesses of lag, and then we have one journalist stating there it is lag free. Hmm...
Still looks like a glorified eyetoy with a price tag to fit to me, I still have an eyetoy and it was great fun but I paid about 10% of what MS want for kinect for it. The only genre I can think of that might make it tempting is a rts that uses interaction with on screen menu's and the hud to play it, but I don't think what I have in mind will happen.
There's no such thing as zero input lag. Kinect isn't magic.The one i posted does not, where do you see it ? It has zero lag there

a_simple_gamer
Every control scheme has lag. There is lag in that video even though all it's doing is relaying the camera input back and adding a wireframe.
Stop misinforming people, seekar.
Digital Foundry:
"Lag is present in Kinect Sports, as it is in all of the titles we see, but Rare's on-hand technical and communications expert Nick Burton pegs the game latency at 150ms, defined by the time taken for light to reach the camera and until the display information leaves the 360 output (in other words, you can add TV lag on top of that)."
[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]
[QUOTE="a_simple_gamer"]
You can use a pad with it, so every single game can be played with added Kinect support and a pad
Fable 3 is rumored to have Kinect support too
a_simple_gamer
Well you could, but then you're back to playing with a controller in front of the psEYE. That sort of seems a step backwards from Wiimote and Move does'nt it?
No, because you still get all features of Kinect, like full body tracking in 3D, something impossible for PS3 and Wii
And now we take into the fact that it took Microsoft 4 years to best Nintendo; on controls I don't even want. Whoop, di, doo.or maybe unlike blind lemmings who will follow MS of a cliff other people actually see it for what it is.sounds like people are upset it is good, lol, gotta love the hate.
