Next time don't steal from the PC and then maybe port it to consoles. MS has a lot to learn.

True you disproved my Opinion but Now you're comparing a Game that's $60 to Games that are $20-$30. Of course the consumer will only pay less.

LegatoSkyheart

Whoa whoa whoa. But those games probably made the sales when they were 60 dollars. :P

Well we're obviously not on the Same Page here. Think about this Gears of War 1 and 2 and Halo 3 were in like 2006-2008 We're in 2010 where some people are a bit cautious of their Money.

Ahh ok. Understood then.I also think releasing it on the same day as Red dead didn't help

They should have kept it a PC/360 multiplat and released it next month. It was kind of foolish of them to release the game the same month of the Reach Beta and RDR

When did they show it at E3? 2006 i think? Because I saw a trailer for it on an Xbox original demo disc promoting next gen games.

I'm surprised it took so long for this news to surface here.

I posted it in the "Aaron Greenburg: Lots more exclusives" thread to highlight the irony...

No,I believe the first time we´ve heard of AW was as a PC exclusive, then the console versions were anounced and then much later it was anounced to be a 360 exclusive.

I thought Alan Wake was pretty average. I played through it on Hard and had to force myself to finish it. I have a laundry-list of complaints about this game which mainly involve the boring combat-system and obnoxious (while rather easy) AI. The story-line was just a garbled mess of cliche rip-offs and heavy-handed drivel. I honestly don't get what all the hub-bub is about; I would prefer almost any mediocre mystery novel to playing through Alan Wake again. Just my two-cents, but I would rather see Remedy focus on Max Payne 3 instead of an AW sequel.

1- Rockstar is making that bastard child for you 2- WHy? Max Payne 2 provided closure for the series. There is no real reason to add a sequel when the first 2 games book ended everything in such a perfect way.

I dont think remedy could be happier with the final product. Its not because its on a console. Its because it didnt get a single TV ad and came out the same day as RDR.

That too,but do you remember when it was a PC game it was supposed to be an open world game? Then it migrated to the 360 and they started the whole development almost from the beggining, that´s why the game took so much time to come out.(one of the reasons, not the only one of course)

AW is a good game, but it could have been great.

No, the open world idea was only in development for around 6 months, before they realised it wouldn't work with the tight narrative, that they wanted to focus on. And having played it, I'm glad it's not open world - the narrative flows perfectly.

For one there was poor advertisment, MS did nothing to premote this game at all. I mean was there even a commercial on tv for it? The other thing that hurt it which other people eluded to is the fact the RDR came out on the same day and I saw that on tv for like 3 weeks! This is a great game I think it will ultimately sell well down the road, but I don't think it will at MS's pace. I mean what gets me is they probably won't pick up the sequel but they will advertise the hell out of a medocre game such as crackdown.

This ^^ an open world would have not worked with this game at all with the way the story went. I mean what were you going to do with Alan? Drive around and look at mountains during the day time, and then at night time get ripped to heck by the darkness while roaming. It didn't make sense to have it an open world. Maybe they had different ideas at first, but they themselves realized that at the end of the day it just didn't make much sense to have it that way.

You may be rigth, but that open world concept worked really well in a story heavy game like Deadly Premonition, surely it could work with AW as well.

A pretty good game, because that open world idea was the stupidest idea that gets an insane amount of love affair for.

It did turn out a pretty good game, but it could have been great.

I guess we´ll never know now.

It would have been a technically impressive sandbox environment, but the actual play of the game would have been worse in comparrison if anything.

Remedys strengths or what they were aiming for(a pyschological thriller) would just work better if it was linear and paced how they wanted it to be. Making it open world would have created something technically more impressive, but one thats just flashy and hollow. Brightfalls would be such a boring sandbox it wouldn't even be funny. What would it really add? He can go hunting with the locals?

The whole town is forests, and as far as the action goes it would have played the same. I think the linear route worked much better than the "technically groundbreaking sandbox" they were going to go for at first. Sure it would have been awe-inspiring at first to look but **** in comparrison does it sound lame. It would have been a glorified tech demo that looked really really pretty.

What they should have done to the game was add some more diversity to the enemies and environments. They got the atmosphere on point in the forest, but I hate how most of the games moments are in the forrest. Take me to the town, and show how disturbing the town can be at night. Also I hated how the game tips its hand and gives you the locations of the taken. They have such a good feeling of tension for some segments, but others are just flat out stupid.

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] A pretty good game, because that open world idea was the stupidest idea that gets an insane amount of love affair for.

I don´t disagree with you champ, but like I stated in my last post,Deadly Premonition does that very well as an open world game,it´s not about the graphics,it´s about the atmosphere, and it works pretty well with DP.

Surely it could have worked with AW as well.

Looking to hopefully buy it this week end. Funny how when MS does release on the 360 and PC, "360 is weak, it has no exclusives", but now it is the answer to this issue. Can't wait to play this game regardless.

I'll need to play DP, but eh with me Alan Wake didn't bother me that it wasn't open world. It actually bugged me at how it missed some shots at being an awesome linear game.

I honestly don't have any interest in this game. Make stuff thats more awesome, like Red Dead.

They should have called it Alien Wake, with no flashlight and open world and allround be more interesting and I would have bought it maybe. Pretty much be a completely different game, lol

Putting it on the PC is a good idea. Nut I'd do it on multiple platforms. Putting Alan Wake on PC and 360 is a good idea. I think microsoft should have advertised the game a little bit more for higher sales. But I think this game is good enough for a sequel. I know for one thing that some games sell less than Alan Wake and make a sequel and become extremely popular.

Too bad they didn't just give the game a proper ending. Back in my day, you made a good game, and if it was a success you might make a sequel or two. Nowadays, the logic seems to be that you make a game, break it into 3 parts, and if part one sells then you get to release the rest of it. Sega tried doing that with Shenmue, and look where they ended up. So why is this approach all the rage suddenly?

Ok I know it has been said before but I'm going to repeat it. Why the hell didn't you actually back the game and advertise it Microsoft? Someone in Redmond really needs to be beat for this.

I'm beginning to hope MS doesn't publish the 2nd game and Remedy pulls a Bungie and goes to EA or Activision to get it published.
