Skyrim 2011 (I found this pic online I *think* it's vanilla. Might be on 360.)

Skyrim 2015. I tried to match the image best I could but I couldn't tell the time of day of the 360 pick. Graphically, I think we'll be fine (unless you're on console, but you don't buy consoles for top of the line IQ anyway). The reviewers/Bethesda should focus on things that matter like plot, mechanics, and voice acting. Better animations would be icing on the cake.

Edit: I used DSR when I captured this, Steam makes aliasing really apparent in my screenshots for some reason and ENB's don't fully support more aggressive AA. Not sure what kind of compression Gamespot uses I'm new here.

I don't care? Games like these shouldn't be graphical powerhouses they should be specifically scaled back so there can be larger worlds, more game assets, more enemies on screen...etc

Screw the sandbox open world game where the graphics are so insane all you have are two guns, two enemies, and a world the size of a room.

It could be the worst looking, most completely unplayable game in the series, and millions of people would still buy it.

Fallout 3/NV are ugly as sin, so that does'nt bode well. Seing as it's Bethesda, the game is in genuine danger of being downright bad too. Their writing is... Inconsistent.. Let's just call it that.

Edit: And graphics do matter. Especially animations, the emotionless Bethesdians are highly off-putting. And the leaked video does suggest it looks decidedly last gen, even if the quality sucked.

I think they need to go back and play FO3. Yes - FO4 is far from being a great looking game, but it's still an obvious step up from FO3 and FO:NV.

It looks terrible, it really does. Not from a graphics perspective but overall. In comparison to other top tier developers Bethesda are awful. The animations, the story and most importantly the immersion is terrible. Stiff blocky animations with characters that float and terrible character models.

Bethesda are falling behind big time and this may be their final hurrah if they keep releasing trash. If they fall much farther behind the dumbed down audience will begin to notice. We came a long way from Morrowind.
