People have finally got some sense knocked into them.
Millions of people weren't going to buy a CoD game every year indefinitely. So, this a great thing. Mind you, when the next fad hits, we're going to have to repeat this cycle all over again.
Plus, remember, this is Activision. They literally do run their franchises into the ground and make their own fans hate them. Guitar Hero was huge, Tony Hawks was huge and Spiderman was huge. CoD wasn't going to be somehow exempt from their reign of destruction.
There's probably a sh*tload more I'm forgetting.

I'm not going to lie, I'm so dissapointed in the multiplayer I'm not buying the next one until I've at least rented it.Thats exactly what happens to every successful activision franchise. Once they have a game that is widely successful they start relasing a version of it every year until people no longer buy it because the IP has been so watered down. Call of Duty isn't exempt from this judging by how people have reacted to CoD:MW3 and COD:BO2
