I'll start.

1. That you could catch Mew in Pokemon Red/Blue by walking around that car parked by the SS Anne.

2. That you could get get the triforce in Zelda OOT by throwing your boomerang through a wall at Hyrule Castle

Edit: I changed the title to give people a better idea of what this thread is about.

Oh they all had to do with Pokemon and beating the Elite Four with a level 2 Pidgey using only Growl then talking to Professor Oak who shows you his magic wand and makes a level 10000000000000000000 Mewthree appear to catch you.

All with cheesy dialouge of course.

There was a secret haunted mansion level inside of the Mall level in THPS1 if you could ramp off the quarter pipe outside.

Luigi was in Super Mario 64

Sonic was in Super Smash Bros Melee (At least I learned to be unstoppable as Roy because of that.)

Numerous Pokemon lies.

You could get this certain mount in WoW by visiting this secret cave and buying it from a vendor. I wasted so much time

All my friends told me Celebi will appear in the lake at Mt.Silver if you beat the Elite 4 333 times. I did this and I was so p***** when Celebi didn't appear.

It isn't. If you take your time and don't miss the one key that almost everyone does. -- I remember hearing, and telling, plenty of gaming-related fibs. But none in particular come to mind.

Only one I remember: -You can face Sheng Long in SFII by perfecting every round on the highest difficulty, then going every round in the final Bison fight both with no damage, and dealing no damage for the whole time period. I knew pretty quickly this one was fake, but didn't stop me from attempting it.

There actually is a legit way to get Mew. GameTrailers has the method. It isn't something you'd ever consider, but apparently it works.

Are you referring to the key that you get in that structure in the very middle of the temple? (where you play Zelda's lullaby and the rising water also raises that platform on the ground allowing you to go down there and get the small key)

All the people talking about Mew in Pokemon :P

When I was back in school and had Pokemon Blue, I ran into someone who had a mew. I used a save backup add on to copy his save, transfer Mew to myself, then reinsert his old save were he still had mew.

I then used mine to pretty much duplicate Mew to the point that everyone in my class had one.

lol i heard that celebi appears at midnight at the shrine in Ilex forest. I also heard that in legacy of goku, if you reach the max level you turn super saiyin. I grinded to level 25 and got nothing. I remember checking the menus and pressing all the buttons trying to get that fool to transform. :(

* If you hide behind a wall for a few minutes, you recover health
* even if you see an expansive vista past a river, or a short ledge (or what ever) there are invisible barriers preventing you from going that way
* earning sums of money in the hundreds and thousands can be accmplished in about 20 minutes
* a backpack can store dozens of swords and wardrobe of armor varieties, while fitting conveniently on your back
* there's always a minimap of where ever you are, that conveniently follows you around
* you always know the health of opponents and other threats to you by a hovering bar
* there are icon prompts to help you execute elaborate combat and acrobatic maneuvers
* even unarmored enemies require 4 full ammo clips to kill

I once told an old friend that if he beat Rachet and Clank 100 times he could make his own weapon at a vendor.

I feel bad because a few years later (we stopped talking that year for some reason) he called me up and asked me "What the **** man?"

I honestly thought it was too stupid to believe and didn't think he would take it seriously. He did. Some funny, sad stuff though.

Silver....Saddle

I was told that if you got 3 perfect (300?) scores in the gerudo archery test (ocarina of time) that you would get the silver saddle for epona. THEN when I didn't get it, I was told it had to be three times...IN A ROW. Then I did not get it after that either. Verry dissapointed.

The "Pikablu" myth: Before Pokemon the first movie came out in the states and before Silver or Gold came out, there was all these rumors online that Merill, or as it was known at the time as Pikablu, could be caught in pokemon red, blue and yellow by doing some extremely delicate, long, and ridiculously tedious sequence of events that unlocked Pikablu. I don't remember the exact order of things, but you had to travel the entire perimeter of Kanto, followed by catching a special pikachu that would appear off the coast of Cinnabar island. With that pikachu you had to beat the elite four using only it and then you had to talk to some random guy who was standing next to Oak;s lab who says that he'll trade you the pikablu for the special pikachu. lol I remember seeing doctored photos of this so called series of events that led up to getting pikablue, however I was never stupid or persistant enough to try it. lol good thing I didn't because Pikablue (aka Merill) ended up sucking anyways in Silver and Gold :p

This is literally the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. Man that was a letdown. Although my 11 year-old self should have known better. Also, that Okami Wii's motion controls were actually good. Nope.

I assume he hasn't read and seen the direction of this thread and as such assumed the TC is asking what common used gaming mechanics are lies, when compared to real life.
